- In this video I unbox the 35th Anniversary Pac-Man Plug and Play. This unit boasts 12 built in games and even saves your high scores. Really there are only 11 games here because one of them is just Pac-Man at level 255 just before the infamous 256 level glitch. This gives you a much easier way to see it happen. The 11 video games contained on this unit appear to be near arcade perfect. I really like this unit and think it would make a great gift for any occasion.

No, you were very thorough in your review. I have arthritis so the hand pain from the uneven edges cutting in from holding it would be a problem.
Especially like the Pac-Man.

This is not perfect but the joystick is actually excellent. Games run very well and I get the highscores I used to get in the 80s.....and this system SAVES them.
Is there a way to reset or erase high scores ?
@@rushkiss2012 yes. You can reset high scores for single games or all games. It would be perfect to create something you can fit the system into so you don't have to hold it in place while playing....thats where its not perfect. Lol. Its a bit awkward in that respect.
@JTCT371 yes , that's also what I been wondering about too, the comfort , maybe play it in short bursts , games have perfect emulation and 256 game are selling points for me ,

I love how Galaga runs better than the $300 Arcade 1up cabinets. But these are not arcade perfect ROMs. They are custom remakes with scores on the right side of the screen. Except maybe Xevius. Anyway, looks awesome and great value at 1/10 the cost of a 1up cabinet.
Bought this for my 8 year old niece. She loves it. I played it too. Plays pretty well
For $15-$20 its definetly worth it
Joystick is pretty good. Theres a tiny bit of input lag but once you get used to it the controls feel pretty good.

Just found one today at my local thrift store for $3! I really like it. Nice selection of games and I love the wire hideaway compartment. I'm mainly using it as a display, but it's great to have the included arcade games.

Mappy is the most fun to play out of all these games in my opinion. Mappy is my favorite Arcade game of all time. I even enjoy it's sequels as well(Mappy Land and Mappy Kids). I haven't played Hopping Mappy yet though. If I find this plug and play one day, I'll mainly buy it for Mappy. Of course, I also will play Dig Dug, Galaga, Rally-X, and Galaxian since they're also very fun games.

Only problem I have is it's a little hard when turning corners. You probably won't even feel it but us who used the classic arcade joy stick know!

This version was originally released in 2012 though it likely had a reprint in 2015.
I used to have one of these around 2017 or 2018 it was very fun now I have a bunch of other consoles but I loved that one it’s like a arcade at home

If this is a Nintendo On A Chip and not actual emulation with the code slightly altered to fit on the landscape screen then they did a hell of a good job faking the arcade look sound and feel of the real thing.

Looks like the joystick is only u, d, l, and r only. Can't really play bosconian without diagonal directioning. That's a deal breaker for me bosconian is amazing.

You may only use your finger I use my finger on the phone and Pac-Man instead of remote controller remote controller is actually too hard for me using my finger moving makes Pac-Man move faster except for the control makes it slow

There is a debug mode menu for this. All you have to do is Hold A+B Until It Turns Flashing colors

Cool with Pacman 256 game you DON'T have to work your way up to 256. I lije this one better than the Arcade 1Up version and it has Galaxian!
I just found out about this and have been searching for a cheapo Arcade1up Pac-Man. You think this is better? It would save a lot of money..
When I saw the instructions and it said one of the games was Pac-Man 256, I thought it was gonna be the mobile phone game.

BOSCONIAN and XEVIOUS are hard to play because oblique input can not be made due to a structural defect of the controller

Can you change the difficulty settings on each game like can be done on the arcade machines where the number of guys bonus life and difficulty level can be changed via dip switches?

Yep, this is all original I play the original PAC-MAN and learn its patterns and they are exact! , the only changes I've seen was the high scores and insert credits are on the right and the Midway Copyright on the games are gone.

I'm not a game critic or anything, but my Atari Flashback 9 Gold is really fun to play. It has a lot of good Activision games, a good port of Frogger, and it has HDMI. But I do know about the small Sega Genesis and it's lacking quality. But really, Sonic was always meant to have poor quality!

Is it PAL or NTSC? Classic Game Room reviewed this unit and said it was PAL and you have to buy a PAL to NTSC converter and he mentioned it ran slowly compared to the arcade versions.
Oh wow, I didn't know there was a PAL version. My guess is they must have purchased the PAL version if that is the case. I assume if you purchase it in the US, it is NTSC.

Why Is There A Pacman 256??
It was a nice way of being able to play the 256th level (which is a glitch screen) without having to complete all 255 levels first. That's why it was included..

The power pellets lose a little value after each level, being replenished after the intermission screens. Eventually after about 17-18 levels I believe they have little to no effect all all, forcing the player to learn patterns in order to complete the game.

The one I have looks like the actual top of the arcade machine it even has the coin slot in the front that lights up red. It has the same games as yours though. I would not like playing holding that thing in my hand. It looks very awkward!
THAT SUCKS! On ebay they sell for quite a bit of money now. I also have the Ms. Pac-Man one that looks like the arcade panel and it is even wireless. That would be nice if you can find yours. they are pretty rare now.
It sucks because of the lack of control. It's very hard to move the way you want to in either games (if you're moving fast) because of the lack of control and it really sucks.
They included Xevious and Bosconian?? Both those games require an 8-way joystick and that thing comes with a 4-way joystick...no diagonals. Unfortunately that's not uncommon with these retro plug and plays.

In 2018 ,Me and my brother and a lot of our cousins spent the night in my old grandmother's house's basement and one of my cousins owned one of them and I played it and that's how I liked Pac man. It was fun.

Its an excellent little system. Not perfect. Buttons are out of place....gotta hold it in place while you play....but games are true to the arcade.

You said something about the controller being springy and was a problem, is that true or did you just have to get used to it?Also what about when you said it starts to dig into your hands after playing for about 15 minutes?
Oh yeah, depending on how oily your hands are and perhaps the duration of play, if the stick slips out of your hand it can cause a spring effect making pac-man go the opposite direction. It's really not a problem if you're careful. Also depending on how you hold the unit, the corners are a bit sharp and do dig into your hands after a while, but overall I still really like and recommend the device. Thanks for watching!

Make sure you are plugging it into the composite ports and not the component ports.
