Two major problems facing the physical world today can be broadly categorized into (1) how to increase the amount of consumable energy available for the worlds needs and (2) how to decrease the amount of greenhouse gases produced. Of course, these problems are negatively linked together inasmuch as, without further offsets, an increase in the production of carbon fuels leads to an increase in the amount of greenhouse gases produced when these fuels are consumed. In this video we shall look at a method that breaks this negative link by considering a project that increases the worlds supply of oil using biofuels and which at the same time decreases the amount of atmospheric carbon dioxide used during its production. The resulting product is a sustainable biofuel whose carbon footprint is neutral inasmuch as the CO2 produced on consumption is essentially balanced by the CO2 used in its production. - Věda a technologie
Comprehensively done, it's brilliant to see the final product - the light and heat from the candle - and the conversion of sunlight energy into this storable energy medium. Thanks a million for an inspirational project!
We need a lot of vertical farms like this.
man, this video has realy inspired me, i'm going to try building an algae bioreactor and you have helped fuel my mind, thanks!
You are a great teacher. You have inspired me to try this also. Thanks a lot.
Great explian
Thanks for uploading this.
Super, can you make a second video using otter containers larger scale
Good job man, keep using that amazing brain.
best slide show ever. That is how you should use computer.
Great work
@benknefelkamp I think the coffee filter would clog up too easily. Even the coarse porosity was beginning to show signs of slowing down.
Good show, Mr. Fischer.
Great process, but show a flowchart next time, it is easier to follow.
Thanks
How is the algae research going? I am tyring to do this in my backyard this year. Starting some algae in fish tanks right now
Yes it would also be very interesting for me as I am trying to basically replicate this and just came across this video. Seems like in the most papers describing a similar approach the main problem is that the space to efficiency and therefore density of the algae limits the production and is the factor keeping the cost up.
Hello,
My name is Armin Golesch and I am writing my "VWA" (a kind of doctoral thesis in austria) about algae fuels. Could you please tell me which species of algae you used for your photobioreaktor?
Thanks in advance
HOLLYYY SHITTTT. MY HEART STOPPED FOR A SEC. I LITERALLY JUMPED. 2:48
michael fischer, how do you extract out the single wanted species of algae at home, those ones with higher lipid contents
What fertilizer u use?
I recommend using a filter that's the size for the algae being used, instead of a paper towel. Smaller than 2-5 µm if Nannochloropsis is chosen.
All are nice but what is the reaction after lighting the algae candle??
Will is emmit CO2 again???????!
@emmanbrothers how do you take the OIL from the algae using a mortar and pestle again?
@jopeace This is just a guess, but I assume there are research material manufacturing companies that can supply specific species of algae for the starter colony, and assuming you start with pure water, you should theoretically only have that species growing.
Was the amount of energy released by burning the algae paste/oil, greater than what would have been released by burning the miracle grow?
whats with the jittery movement?
hi,
Iam are also working on a project on production of biofuel from alge ..Iam looking for any subsitute of photobioreactor for algal growth.can anyone suggest any subsitute...and which is the best species of algae
How to seperate oil and algae?
how long does it take
how about fish tank water instead of miracle grow?
How is the algae and electricity produce hydrogen?
seems a micron filter would be much better for separating water from algae
how much algae per bottle, how much mircale grow per bottle, and how much co2 per bottle per day
What tyap of alge sir
@bernardengks Or should you say it will "bloom" one day? :D
audio quality
Please reply someone
so many steps
A small idea, use less paper to explain your stuff, thats more eco- friendly.
For the rest this is good stuff man.
Greetings from Belgium
Erik
get a bigger notepad
dam dude fix your mic
and you just killed 2 trees to show how genius you are whats the carbon footprint on that project lol
