The simple joy of being able to travel inside your own bloody country after all that time! I can't even begin to imagine how that felt even seeing and hearing the people living it. I was a young teenager when this happened and will remember the day I heard about it on the news in the US as long as I live.
Watching this from America. Saw it live as a10-year-old. Today, I believe the West has devolved into a Cold War and now is less free than this day, 1989. So I watching to cheer myself. Brings tears to my eyes.
This is why the right to protest peacefully is so important.

America and Ronald Reagan did more to bring down the Berlin Wall than Gorbachev did. Yes, Mikhail was pushing reforms, but only "socialism with a human face". It was President Reagan who said to the Soviet Union, "if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity...open this gate! Tear down this wall!"

I still get emotional thinking about how all this came to be, seemingly out of no where. And then the next year, the Scorpions band came out with their beautiful song Wind of Change. About that magical day. I wish the same could happen now in Israel, with the Palestinians being set free like this!
