Amazing how many Classical musicians are of South Korean origin, especially Lady violinists such as Sarah Chang ( who was a child prodigy ) Bomsori Kim, Kyung-Wha Chung, Soyoung Yoon, Clara-Jumi Kang, Zia Hyunsu Shin, so many to mention and all quite amazing violinists !!
And pianists...and actors,actrices...singers...writers...directors,conductors...??? An inexhaustible source of beauty and talent...💝🙏🇰🇷💌🇷🇴

I was there that night, and what a marvellous night it was. I've heard the Bruch concerto recorded many times, but I'm so glad that I chose her performance for my first live version. Absolutely brilliant!
The video and recording is very good, but nothing beats getting to listen to it live with the amazing acoustics of the Royal Albert Hall.
Lucky you to have seen it live! Not many performances get recorded, let alone a high production quality like this one. My guess is that Bomsori's violin volume was more prominent when your heard it live at the concert hall? It seems to me the solo violin volume is a tad low in this video compared to many other videos in which Bomsori's violin comes through much more loud and clear. I have recently become a huge fan of her, not just her violin virtuosity, but Bomsori the person as a whole.
So was i!! sitting above the BBC3 Booth in the mobility restricted seats, spent most of her performance wiping my eyes!! She managed this despite the idiot conductor. Fair play to the Orchestra!!
(On a side note, not filmed , the BBC Phiharmonia did full justice to Mahler 1 on the next night!!)
Wonderful performance,but have to agree that the balance was incorrect with the orchestra downing out Bomsori Kim in some places

Now that was a real performance.....worth listening to...Bomsori Kim always delivers.....and always updates her version ...thanks for a super performance.
I was really astonished by the orchestral crescendo and tutti at 6:05 it was unbelievably outstanding, Bravissimo "maestra Anja Bihlmaier for this one minute of glory.
The orchestra is rushing like cats chasing laser pointers.

I think AI will have a hard time to compute the most enjoyable performance...Luckily music at its best is far away from AI, as it comes to personal playing. AI is not so personal.

Great comment, I could not agree with you more! I have searched and viewed just about every CZcams video featuring Bomsori, following her on instagram as well. Hoping she'll someday perform in Chicago where I live.
One can feel Bonsori's emotional outpouring. It's beautiful, with a warmly silky tone. I wish the violin was recorded louder as it sounds distant. I still remember her fab-winning performance at the Weinsniewskoski competition win. That dress made pretty Bonsori look very important.

Having seen Sarah Chang play this live in London April 2011 at the Royal Festival Hall, I find Bomsori Kim's version not as powerful and emotional as Sarah Chang. Two top violinists and it all come downs to personal taste but without a doubt Sarah has one of the best Violins in the world and her bowing technique brings the very best out of it. Sarah Changs main violin is the 1717 Guarneri del Gesu made by the Cremonese luthier, Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù which she inherited from her mentor, Isaac Stern.
This performance by Sarah (Click the link below ) is around the same time as when I saw her play, she is even wearing the same dress ! See the comments below this video. All in all, Sarah Chang is quite an amazing violinist.

Sarah Chang is a genius and the greatest violinist since Paganini although we only know of his playing from hearsay. This concerto is probably the most frequently played in the repertoire but nobody has ever played it like this and most probably never will. Quite simply, the definitive performance with an orchestra to match the Berlin Philharmonic and truly great conducting. Sarah Chang Bruch Violin Concerto 3rd Movement

@@lovemetu, Wow, I was swept up by your comment on Sarah Chang's Sibelius and was eager to click onto the link after such a rave review, but after hearing I concluded everyone has their own impression that isn't necessarily shared by others. I didn't listen to the whole play but only a couple of minutes here and there. Her playing is, to me, too aggressive and devoid of artistry, plus the recording is awful. My favorite version of the Sibelius violin concerto is Hilary Hahn, hands down. Bonsori made it a bit too soft and too romantically warm. I wonder if she knows that Finland is a cold place..
I restrain myself from comparing the world-class violinists or other virtuoso classical instrumentalists, as each of them expresses the beauty of music in their unique interpretation/style, and naturally the viewer/listener will be drawn closer to an artist or a particular performance for a myriad of reasons. For me, Bomsori captured my heart not just by her violin virtuosity but, after viewing several CZcams videos of her interviews, I was touched by her character at a deeper level. Of course, it does not hurt that she is blessed with a physical beauty, pretty face, and a dazzling smile, but I believe her outward beauty simply reveals her inner beauty, her true character. Having said that, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Hilary Hahn or Sarah Chang.@@lovemetu

I must have heard this particular concerto over 100 times over the years but this is the most refreshingly outstanding version ever, so glad its been uploaded to CZcams for us to enjoy over and over again. Bravo Bomsori and the BBC Philharmonic!
I'm not a fashion expert, but Bomsori's snow white dress contrasts the conductor and the orchestra brilliantly, creating a natural spotlight on the queen of violin! You can tell the entire ensemble enjoyed performing together in front of an exuberant audience!

I recently discovered Bomsori on CZcams, and now I'm a HUGE fan!!! I have watched just about all of her videos, and so happy to see her perform very recently at the BBC Proms! Her beauty, smile, wit, and charming personality is simply captivating. Such a unique Korean name meaning "Sound of Spring" is a perfect fit for her. My favorite violinist in the world, second to none!!!

I was listening to BBC on SiriusXM when I heard this Proms performance played. I was really happy to see that the same concert was available on CZcams. It's a fantastic rendition of Bruch's most famous work. Kamsa hamnida for having this posted for our viewing/listening pleasure. Ms. Kim's touch on the 1725 Guarnerius del Gesù violin is confident and brilliant!

Max Bruch is one of those composers with whom a single work is almost exclusively associated. The popularity of his violin concerto in G minor thus eclipsed his entire production. If he was not necessarily understood in his time, Bruch testified to a true genius of which this concerto is the perfect incarnation. The concerto, in its definitive version, finally knew how to touch the public and remains, today, one of the most popular in the violin repertoire. How can you resist the rhapsodic and elegiac accents of this score, which offers the soloist the opportunity to shine as much by his virtuosity as by his lyricism ! The first movement « Vorspiel - Allegro Moderato » is like a long introduction to the following two which are as intense as they are contrasting. In the second part « Adagio », the composer testifies to his melodic genius through a cantilena of overwhelming emotional power. As for the swirling « Finale : Allegro Energico » it allows the soloist to deploy the most dizzying virtuosity. Its violinist and dedicatee Joseph Joachim will write : The Germans have four violin concertos. The largest, the freest of concessions, is that of Beethoven. The one of Johannes Brahms, by its seriousness, is in line with Beethoven. The richest, the most bewitching, was written by Max Bruch. But the most interior, the jewel of the heart, comes to us from Felix Mendelssohn. It seems to me that everything is said after this soothing reflection arising from its historical context. *Lucien*

I was simply pierced by a laconic but sincere comment of 3-6 words from one of the CZcams listeners, who a few days ago simply asked, where were you, Bomsori? There are only a few options to understand him.
And I could not understand his question otherwise than something like this: “Where were you, Bomsori? Where did you go all this time? After all, you are needed like air! You have been so missed in this world all the time!”

특히 막스 브루흐(개인적으로 가장 선호하는 바이올린협주곡)는 집시풍멜로디에 한을 토해내듯 프레이징을 거듭하는,동양적정서와도 통하는 면이있고 이번에 BBC와 브루흐,그리고 김봄소리님의 앙상블도 드물게 보는 호연을 이끌어내는데 최적의 조합이었던
것 같습니다.
정말로 감동적인 일기일회의 결정판이었다고 저 개인적으로 감사하며 감상합니다,브라보,브라보🎉🎉🎉
