Strike Industries Mass Driver Compensator For Glock 19 P80 Review!

- Bought the new Strike Industries mass driver comp and threw it on my P80 Glock 19 build and tested her out. I was pleased with how much flatter the gun shot and how much quicker it was to pick up the red dot. A couple downsides I found to this comp however were how much of a pain it was to install, and the change of impact I encountered. Let me know if you have any questions and or comments! Gotta love the postal system lol. You'll enjoy it once you get it installed! Let me know how you end up liking it
Thanks for the comp review. I may get one know..
You got it brother 👍🇺🇸
Yup, comps can change POI. So can a change in ammo. I'm figuring this stuff out the same way. Nice to know I'm not the only one.
I knew all of this with my rifles already, I don't know why I didn't think it would translate to pistols as well 😂 We live and learn I suppose!
No pain, No gain... Lookin' good !
That's right brother! Only 57 more until you hit 1k!... not that I'm counting 😉

It definitely has a cool factor. I put a comp on my 1911 and it changed the shot placement as well....it didn't stay on my gun very long
Yeah I hear you. To me it almost seems like you have to run it all the time or not at all. I'm not going to re zero my RMR every time I want to shoot it then re zero it again for my carry load. For now I just plink with it every now and then. I'd like to have a gun dedicated for it eventually
man I know. I love the look of this on my 19 but I just bought a gloxk 34 instead! and carry both
Pretty cool pick up....Good stuff....
Thanks Scott 😊
Definitely a pain in the butt to install it. I have to take mine to my local store to have installed.
Is there enough clearance to remove the barrel with out removing the comp/guide rod assembly completely?
The POI change is probably from the firearm staying flatter longer with the comp, and zeroing without it taking the snap of the recoil into account.
I think that's a pretty good idea as to what's causing it
Bullets leave the barrel before the slide unlocks
@@hasgunwilltravel6840 that doesn’t matter because the recoil impulse is already affecting the entire gun before the barrel unlocks from the slide as well.
@@Sh1tbagActual nevermind it’s not worth it. Yep you are right. That is why.
Cleaning becomes a pain, but the spring gets easier to install the 2nd time and anytime after that. Be careful when screwing the nut on. 25 in pounds is what is recommended.
Yeah it gets broken in the more you use it. I didn't know about the 25 inch pounds, thanks brother!
Looks badass like a John Wick race gun 💥💥👊
Yeah it does, just without the 4k+ price tag 😂
That looks pretty cool. But to me the only drawback is messing with the spring Everytime you wanted to do a complete tear down. But the added weight up front is a definite bonus
Agreed, and as someone who likes to shoot a lot and breaks down my guns to clean them every time that's a big negative. So far me at this point it's just an occasional plinking toy sin to speak. It definitely does work so you could leave it on a carry gun if you wanted but that won't be me lol
You can get the barrel out without removing the Mass Driver.
Is it still in the waly when detail cleaning?
Yes.
Beautiful gun
Thanks brother!
Great looking gun! I just got the same comp. hey bud, if you don’t mind me asking, where did you get your slide? Thanks. Also, amazing videos.
Thanks Dan! The slide is made by Thompson Leh, I bought it off of their eBay store a while back 🇺🇸
Beautiful pistol broo
Thanks!
That's a cool looking pistol comp. I like the concept of not needing a threaded barrel, but yea that assembly looks a bit rough. Cleaning your pistol will be more of a challenge. I only have 1 pistol comp and it's on my first P80 build you've seen many times I'm sure. It uses some shims to time and you have to use red thread locker or it'll come loose. Really aggravating if I want to take the barrel all the way off. Luckily I can clean the barrel with it still in the slide by tilting it down. Anyways, very nice review of this Strike comp. They seem to keep coming up with new ideas.
Yeah I like the fact that a threaded barrel wasn't needed as well. That's the main reason why I went with this one. Yeah that would be frustrating having to deal with that red lock tite whenever you needed it off. Strike Industries seems to come up with some pretty cool ideas and designs, I'm becoming quite a fan of theirs.
You’re gonna have to re zero ur red dot with every new attachment or parts. That’s with every weapon. The slightest added weight in the front, rear, middle, top, bottom or even reduced weight can change the way the fire arm shoots
It looks good on it too.
Agreed, it is probably the best looking comp I've seen
The compensator doesn't spring forward. It remains in the same place as the slide cycles independently.
Thanks for the video. Any chance that would fit on the sd9ve? They use the same guide rods as the G19.
I honestly don't have a clue. I'd reach out to SI and ask them. Their customer service is great and they got back to me quick both times I dealt with them.
Boom !!!
Bam! Quick on the draw brother!
Your trigger press and grip may have a little to do with your POA/POI. Try to get in the habit of releasing the trigger to the reset. When you let the trigger go all the way forward it allows for more deflection of your dot.
Still pretty good shots though.
I've had several similar comments. I actually shoot to reset, I don't know if it's the camera angles I use or what but it doesn't look like I do. Thanks though, I always appreciate any and all advice I get to get better!
Was that the Nepolian Dynamite version of range time...
I'm not a glock fan , but after shooting Christian's p80 builds, I definitely would take one of those.. that compensator works well...
😂 that beat totally has that kind of vibe to it now that you mention it! It's one of the beats my nephew made. I'm fan of Glocks but don't currently own any if that makes sense. What I like about the P80 more though is the under cut on the trigger guard and the angle of the grip. Christian and I have talked a lot of P80 talk. He's has some nice builds, I'm looking forward to seeing how his new one turns out
How long would it take if I order it on the website
I had an issue with the feed it would feed after the first round it kept jamming after the first round any suggestions? I did have issues with the install on how to sit the curve part on the barrel
I just recorded a quick video for you on what I think your problem may be. Let me know if it helps you out

Excellent grouping !👍
Hey brother about how much does it cost to build a P80 not including the red dot, just a basic one, nothing fancy ? Ballpark for the kit and all the parts ?
For the basics I pieced it together over a couple months catching sales and I was in it for right around $550 I believe including a handful of mags. So basically the same price as a new Glock. Benefits of a P80 of course is no serial number plus it's something you kind of get to make on your own 😁
@@AlphaRomeoOneFive Thanks man 👍
I've been thinking about building one.
@@Jerry-Parker You got it 👍 and for what it's worth, I say go for it!
Whoa, a squared guide-rod? That's pretty cool, but that install diagram doesn't inspire confidence. I actually had a 1911 guide rod cup go flying a few years back. Hit a window and looks like I shot it.
That Poly 80 with the comp looks good, man. The POI shift is interesting. I wouldn't think it would have that much effect. I want to see some high speed footage of this in action to see the unit springing forward.
Yeah the guide rod is like a rounded off rectangle that runs all the way through in order to help keep everything lined up. It's a pretty neat design. I record all of my videos on my phone so the high speed isn't high speed enough to catch it springing forward unfortunately lol. I think the strike industries video has that footage though
I kept getting feed issues every 6-8 rounds and after that I removed and installed original glock spring and guide rod and had no issues I put the comp back on and I would have a feed issue or a stove pipe malfunction
That's weird, I've not heard of that issue with the comp on before. I'd contact Strike industries and ask them about it
You installed it incorrectly
I wish they made one of these that fit a G34 just so I could build a badass robocop glock
That would definitely be sweet!
Can’t you just put a G17 comp on the 34 ?
Idk 🤔
@@christianaguilar5486 seems like it would work. I'm curious about the 34 too.
Wish they made one for the Glock 41
The muzzle part of Glock 19 P18 is similar to Desert Eagle.🇯🇵😁👍
Yeah it's a compensator to help you shoot faster 😁🇺🇸🇯🇵
Any updates on this comp? Have you found any issues with twisting or strikes during shooting?
I don't run it full time. I just toss it on occasionally when at the range. No issues with it whatsoever though
@@AlphaRomeoOneFive I just got mine and took it to the range. Put 200 rounds through it and find that my follow up sight acquisition was much faster. I had to change holsters to accommodate the additional length. I'll continue to use it for my EDC and see how it feels. I'll be switching up to a red dot very soon and that should also be a great test.
Quick question, did it ding the end of your slide? I have a Zaffirri Precision slide and barrel on my P80 and just hand racking the slide it started to wear the black off the nose of my slide. Nope!! Took it off without even firing it. Thanks for posting.
Dang that's no bueno at all. These slides aren't cheap for sure. I know they're tools in the long run but I'm like you and want to keep mine looking good too. I've not had issues with the comp rubbing my slide. Sucks that it happened to you
@@AlphaRomeoOneFive .....thanks for the reply and info. I have reached out to SI with a customer support request and sent them pics of my slide and their comp showing the contact points. Hopefully they have dealt with this before and can give me some guidance. Really like the comp and want to use it but not at the expense of beating up a 400 dollar slide!! 😳😳
@@rickhayes yeah no comp is worth scratching up a slide at that cost. I've contacted SI's customer service a few times over the years and they've been absolutely wonderful, hopefully they get you squared away quickly
I put a compensator on my 17 just to see how it would do and I really didn't see a notice a difference I have a threaded barrel for mine and I've got the thread type on it I just went ahead and took it off I couldn't tell difference
I haven't tested any other ones but this one made a big difference on mine. I've heard others say some comps definitely work better than others though
@@AlphaRomeoOneFive I just gave you a shot out the video will be up soon . I just took my compensator off so you'll get to see it.
@@RTACDaughters Well that's certainly appreciated 😁
I have the 17c and it does make a huge difference
Have you found a good holster option for this, if so what kind?
I've not even looked for one honestly. I don't plan on ever carrying it with the comp on. I'd imagine it would work with most open bottom holsters, or by slightly modifying one.
I found that g34 holster size would work for the g19 with this comp.
Recommendations for holsters with this comp been looking around feels almost impossible to find without modding being done to holster
Gen5 Glock 19
Light:TRL-1
Comp: mass driver (Strike Industries)
I've not looked for any compatible holsters for it unfortunately. You've got a setup though that I'm sure a lot of companies make holsters for. I would look to find one that just has a open bottom so the comp can slide straight through and I imagine you'd be ok. Or looking for a Glock 17 open ended holster so the comp would be protected by the kydex by another 1/2" or so
Try T Rex Arms
Overall, appears to be a success. Update us on your long term thoughts on this accessory. May look into it for my 17.
I think it's great and definitely does what it's supposed to. I made this video 4 months ago so I've had more time with it since then. My thoughts are it's great if you're putting it on something and keeping it on full time, that could be a range toy, edc gun or competition gun. You'll have to adjust your sights to account for the poi change. Since I'm still carrying this gun part time and don't have a holster that'll fit it without modifying one I just leave it off. I'll occasionally throw it on at the farm to plink with and have fun, but I don't bother adjusting the RMR instead I adjust my point of aim for it
AlphaRomeo-OneFive
Wtf! Lol 😂
Four months old already?!
@@StrictlyPlinking I actually have videos that are older that I still haven't released yet 😂 I make the videos and then release them when I feel like the time is right lol. I like to have videos stocked up so I'll always have some content to release if I'm unable to film for whatever reason. I've been consistent in my 3 videos a week goal, with one being my Sunday Thoughts. I'm not going to lie though, I've been getting pretty discouraged lately. I feel like for as hard as I work at it I should have more subs, and I know CZcams has been throttling my content. People are being unsubscribed from my channel by CZcams and the majority of the time I don't get notifications for the comments people are leaving on my videos. I lost 3 subscribers yesterday throughout the day which is a lot for a channel as small as mine, and I know it was CZcams since I hadn't posted anything since Tuesday 😕
AlphaRomeo-OneFive
I hear ya on the bs from CZcams. Or maybe my content ain’t cutting it! Lol! It’s ok and that’s why I’m done with GAWs; 43 more subs and I’ll wrap things up and no more! And again, it really is just more of a hobby channel for me. I miss Budget Gun Cinema; his trail got cold and just stopped. 😕
@@StrictlyPlinking Yeah I miss him too. Haven't seen him around in a while. I'll have to swing bybhisbchannel and make sure all is good. I haven't seen Tomon8tor around lately either 😕 I'll have to shoot him a text tomorrow and see how he's doing
I’m thinking of getting one for my 17
It's fun to have on there for sure
I have the same comp on my p80 and had issues with firing, in particular, failure to feed. I took it off and ran with factory g17 guide rods and spring and had no failures to feed. Cool factor, yes! But functionality, no. I recommend passing on this.
Are you sure you had it installed correctly? The only time I've ever heard of it causing malfunctions were with it installed incorrectly, not saying that's impossible though. Failures to feed would be really weird. Did you have the guide rod fitment washer installed? That's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head that would possibly cause the slide not to move as intended to help feed that next round
@@AlphaRomeoOneFive yea could be. But I know that yhe factory guide and spring worked just fine so I'm running the p80 without it. Thanks for the insight.
@@neoxyooj 👍 you got it. Good luck with it, hopefully you can get it to work correctly
If FTF, you're going to need to change the recoil spring... I believe 11 or 13lbs
@cjceredon1 2 years later... I'll look into this lol!
Stay safe amigo
Thanks brochacho, you as well!
Did you get any baffle strikes. Seems this would stay straight under such high compression.
I've not ever had a baffle strike or ever heard of one on a comped pistol
Rezero it please, I want to know if the Comp threw your shot off. And if it can be corrected by simply re zeroing. (Considering buying one) thanks mate.
Exactly lol have a red dot on it and didnt sight it in with the attachment
Killa Kale, Why change the zero on the red dot if it's not something I'm planning on running full time and using as a range toy? This is a gun I carry quite a bit and definitely not with the comp on. The Connoisseur, I'm sure that if you zeroed it with your red dot and irons it would hold just fine. Every time I've put it back on my poi has been the same at just high and right
AlphaRomeo-OneFive thanks, that’s a good note. I’ll let you know if it holds poi for me. If you do happen to zero it with the comp let me know. Keep making videos 👍🏼👍🏼
@@Semiautoautomatic_shaman Thanks brother I appreciate it. Definitely keep me posted on your reesults as well!
Killa kale Yeah why zero it when its not going to be convenient ;95 him? What do you think this is? Some youtube channel that supposedly wants to please viewers? Take a hike pal
Can you still install lights/laser on the rail when you have that comp on?
You sure can. Both my Olights the PL mini and PL pro both fit fine
So how do you do clean it? If you put blue thread locker?.
No barrel take down?.
I would assume using a system like the otis? Or how do you clean it?
I didn't use the thread locker on mine but would if it was permanently attached. I dont think there would be anyway of removing it without breaking the thread locker. I suppose you could just lock the slide to the rear and clean the inside of the barrel doing it that way. Definitely wouldn't be my preferred method of cleaning though. Great comment, I hadn't though of that 👍
AlphaRomeo-OneFive Thanks for the reply. I tried watching many videos. All mention installation. None, take off. Nor cleaning.
Most use the blue. Saw a video from (ammo x aloha) . He broke a mass driver from a bullet. So I’m concerned. About running it without the blue.
Gave me something to think about.
@@2tres12 You got it brother 👍 when I run it I just tighten it down good then check it every 50-100 rounds or so to make sure it's still tight.
I got one the other day, it’s cool as hell but definitely not practical for me :/ really hate it doesn’t fit my TXC holster so I’ll probably just keep it as a range toy at least until I get a 43x to replace my current edc lol
Yeah I'm in the same boat brother. Just a fun range toy for now, but it does work well.
why does it change point of impact and if you wanted to keep it on could you just adjust sights to help?
Not sure why exactly it changes the poi as it's not connected directly to the barrel but it does. You'd be able to adjust your irons for windage but have to get sights adjustable for height to change that which these don't. If you're running a red dot like here it would be as simple as adjusting your dot to the new poi
Hi 👋😊 where can I get those cool slide build you have boss?✌️
I got the slide several years ago, Idk if they're still making them actually. The company name is Thompson Leh, I had found this one on eBay. It's been a great slide for the money
any holsters you know can fit with comp? i run gen3 g19 aswell
Nothing that's made specifically for this comp off the top of my head. I'd go with an open bottomed G17 holster or maybe even a G34 holster and that should work out for getting more of the comp covered. I'd reach out to your favorite holster company and tell them what you're running and ask them what would work best. I'm a big fan of Vedder Holsters personally
I have the g19 gen4 with this comp it fits well in my serpa holster
I didn't notice, did you have those band aids on before or after you installed it?🤕🤣 Still a good review.
Definitely before 😂 I try and get in too much of a hurry when working with Rick sometimes!
I wonder if this would work on the arex delta gen 2..
I haven't a clue. You could try contacting SI and asking, they're great about getting back to you quick
Does the adapter plate grove side face the front or the grove face you
Hopefully you saw my other comment but if not I recorded a quick video for you. Drop a comment on that video and let me know if that helps czcams.com/video/eEE4qSaRffM/video.html
Is the recoil spring rod that comes wit it mad of steel or plastic?
99% sure it's metal but I'm not home so I can't verify right this second
Of course any time you put new weight or items on a gun or barrel and ect.. you should always rezero your gun
When I got it I didn't figure it would since it wasn't attached to the barrel at all. Live and learn I suppose
would this fit a glock 30 45 acp?
I ask cause my lower is a p80 but gen 4 upper
Honestly I don't know off hand if the brake itself is even big enough to fit 45 through it. I'd contatct strike industries and ask them, both times I had to contact them they were quick in getting back to me
Is that bandage from putting the spring on?
Nah it's not that bad lol. I install flooring so I often times have little cuts and nicks on my hands
Did you get any malfunctions using 115gr ammo
I've not had any malfunctions using 115gr or 124gr. Haven't tried anything other than those two though
Is the Glock disabled when the mass driver is pressed against something
I've never tried that and don't plan on it either lol. My guess is there's no way that it could possibly disable it
No, a glocks action fails IF the SLIDE is pushed back. Not the guide rod.
Any time you add a muzzle device point of aim and point of impact will change no big deal sir. 4-6 clicks tontge left and you are in business or hold over like any reactive shooter. First 2-3 shots to confirm and carry on
Yeah I knew point of impact will change for muzzle devices when throwing on something new. I just didn't think it would happen on here since the comp wasn't attached to the barrel itself lol. Live and learn as they say 😁
@@AlphaRomeoOneFive on your data book log it how ever many clicks of elevations and windage adjust at 10, 15, and 25 yards shoot log and hold over either way still kill zone
Can I still use that muzzle with a threaded barrel?
From my understanding yes you can. You'll still have to use the guide rod the mass driver comes with as that's the only way to attach it.
What brand slide is that?
The company was called Thompson Leh. I believe they went out of business a couple years back though unfortunately
How's it holding up?
I don't run it full time. I just throw it on for having fun while plinking now and then. It's been great though
That third hand would be called a vice.

@@AlphaRomeoOneFive thanks man
Why is the compact upside down???
Not sure what you mean?
Are you using gen 3 internals ?
Yeah kinda, most are oem gen 3 internals other than the trigger, minus connector and safety plunger which are all Overwatch Precision. Apex extractor, and glock gen 4 ejector
Thank you for the information
Can this work with a Taurus g3?
My guess would be no as it's specifically designed for Glocks. You could try contacting Strike Industries though, their customer service is great
Any holster options that you know of?
I don't know of any specifically made for the addition of the comp. My recommendation would be to look for an open ended holster and the comp should slide right through. If you're running it on a P80 G19 build maybe look for a P80 G17 holster so that kydex would run down a little further and cover more of the comp
can u install on g19 gen 5?
I don't believe so. I think they're making one that'll be compatible for the gen 5. SI is based out of Cali and they don't have gen 4's or 5's on their unconstitutional hand gun roster so they usually come out with gen 3 first.
will the gen 4 comp work on the gen 5 (g17)
Not a clue. Contact SI and ask them. I had to check with them before I bought this to make sure it would work with the P80, their customer swrvice is great 👍
AlphaRomeo-OneFive thank you I will contact them
Ever find out in gen 5’s?
albert oriol I contacted their customer service (amazing people btw) and they said they had something in the works about a month ago
@@stockmanbryce1 it seems like they make gen 3 items first then move on to 4 and 5. My guess is that they do that because they're based out of Cali and gen 3's are still available for their completely stupid and unconstitutional gun roster

@@PatRMG That's what I'm talking about!
5 yards dude?! 7 yards?! u know thats a gun and not a melee weapon rite?
I do indeed 😁
Did it damage your slide at all?
Not at all
putting a comp on your gun wouldnt change your point of impact. left and right variability is from trigger pull and up and down variation is generally from recoil anticipation. this is assuming your gun is sighted in accurately
The RMR is sighted in perfectly, the comp absolutley changed the point of impact. Same thing that happens when you put a new muzzle device on a AR. Your zero changes along with it.
AlphaRomeo-OneFive Unless you have a long barrel and a heavy enough comp to affect the harmonics of the barrel and make it whip a little differently (which you would only notice at long ranges and it would be like 1-2 MOA) at 5-10 yards with a glock and a small comp. the only thing that would change would be your sight acquisition on follow up shots. Two aimed shots one with comp and without would be identical if human error wasn’t a variable
