Aqua Cast Resin: Better and Easier than Jesmonite!!

- Recently, EliChem UK announced a new, game-changing resin product: Aqua Cast. It's an acrylic resin that comes as a powder ONLY, and is activated with tap water. Game changing! No special liquid and mind-bending math necessary. It makes a lovely white "batter" that accepts colorants easily, pours beautifully, and sets up in minutes. If you want a little more working time, just add a little more water! Of course, I had to get my hands on some, and here in this video, I'm doing a test using Aqua Cast with varying amounts of water, and -- of course -- Brusho watercolour crystals. We're going all Brit in this one!

Sorry I’m late to commenting! Today is my b-day and I was out painting the town 🥳🤣 Anyway, if you’re interested in a 2-part acrylic resin, here’s the last video on this topic:

Happy Birthday! 😊
Happy Birthday! I hope you had a great day!!
Happy Birthday! 😊
Never thought on using my brushos thanks
I’m always looking for new ways to use Brusho crystals - love playing with them (I’m very easily amused). Thanks for watching! 😊
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CINDY!!!!!!
I hope you had an awesome day!
🧡🎉🎂🎈🎁🎊🧡
Thank you!!! It was pretty fun! 😁
I use jesmonite but will be trying this for sure ❤ great video
Thank you!! Definitely - I’d love to know what you think after comparing them 😊
Please do the skull mold with color shift micas!!
Oooh, that’s a great idea - thank you!!
Love your experiment! I’d love to see how the Bombay inks work. I’m trying to order the aqua cast now.
Thank you!! I hope you enjoy the Aqua Cast - it’s a great product and fun to use 😁😁
I'm so behind on watching everything! I've been wantingbto try jesmonite and this one for ages but it's soooo freaking expensive to get here! I love the look of the terrazzo chips in jesmonite and really want to add coasters and trays with it to my line up someday! These came out great!
Thanks!!! Yeah, this new Aqua Cast really couldn’t be any easier!
I am ordering this to sell in my online shop. I’m excited to try it. 🤗🤗🤗
The Aqua Cast??? Are you UK or US?? I’ve thought about re-packaging some of the huge tub of Aqua Cast powder I ordered and selling it on eBay here in the US, but I’m not totally sure that’s ok for me to do.
@@LuxindasOtherObsessions I’m here in the US, EliChem said I would be the only one selling it as I sell their resin too. I guess you can ask. I have to try to figure out a price including shipping, but this is sure more economical than the other stuff. 🤗🤗🤗
@@usherl250 ohhhh, you were smart to jump on asking (I didn’t even think to reach out to them - I’m such a tiny biz). I don’t want to step on your toes, so I won’t take the eBay idea any farther. Good luck!!! Let me know when you get set up for selling, because I’ll send viewers your way for sales! They’re already interested but obviously don’t want to deal with large quantities and overseas shipping.

Sorry, I answered from my other account without realizing…
Luxinda, these turned out great. I love the vibrancy of brusho colours but when I tried them in Jesmonite ( before my AquaCast days) I found that the colour leached out into whatever’s the piece was touching, have you had any issues with that happening? My brusho powders are very old so it could be that. Great video I ❤ Aqua Cast
Thank you!! I haven’t found that to be the case yet, but my testing so far has been pretty limited. I want to do a video testing a variety of different colorants just to see what happens, so hopefully I’ll get to that soon 😊
Hi. Great effect - I wonder if you'd get a similar effect using 'Mica Powders' ?? Do you have the SCALLOP SHELL mould that is upside down (where the shell looks like an actual Scallop shell when de-moulded) ?
Thanks! I definitely want to try mica powders with this stuff! As for the shell mold, I do have a scallop shell/trinket tray sort of mold -- it's not an exact replica of a scallop shell, just similar to it. But that would be fun to try!!
I'll be the smart-ass and say use all of the molds. 😝
Since I'm a bit partial to piggy's, maybe a piggy mold? 🐖
I know whatever you choose it will come out awesome. 😎
Thank you!! All the molds is a great idea 😁😁
I can’t believe it, but I don’t think I have a piggy mold 😳 I’ll have to get on that!
Oooh. Can you make a stepping stone? Does it hold up to outdoor use?
It definitely should hold up well - planters are one of the popular items to make with this type of substance. I do think they need to be sealed, but sealers are available. CCDIY’s Quick Coat urethane sealer should work, as does this stone sealer:

I wanna see them all! But seriously, the skull would be cool. But I do have a question, is this similar to jepsom? I've seen people use that but I'm curious if this stuff is more durable? Love your experiments. Would love to see what happens with acrylic paint, because almost everyone has tons of it it seems, and I wonder if since it's water based if you would have to adjust the amount of water you add?
Thank you!! Definitely the skull 💀 😁 That’s a great question, because I’m not that familiar with gypsum except that it’s a component of plaster of Paris. And I’ve read that this acrylic resin is definitely more durable than plaster, but I haven’t tested it yet.
@@LuxindasOtherObsessions this definitely looks like it sets up way harder than what gypsum would, or even plaster or even a craft cement. I would love to be able to offer more stuff at shows and I've been looking for an alternative to resin that could be a little cheaper. Thank you for this and I hope we get to see more experiments with it. ☺️
Please use the skull mold...
I have it on the list - thank you!!
Hey Cindy do you have a dinosaur mold if so I would love to see it with mica powder blue or green and I would definitely purchase it from you for my 3 yrs old grandson
Thanks, Crystal! I'll have to take a look - I'm pretty sure I bought one a long time ago, so I'll see if I can find it and let you know. That would be a fun idea for coloring it!
Im curious about the skull mold as it's deeper..
We’ll definitely try that! Thanks!
Once these are set, can they be domed with epoxy?
Absolutely!
Do u have any sword molds? That would be cool.
Oooh, it would be cool! I don’t at the moment, but maybe that will change 😁
Do those crystals work with regular resin?
Not really, because Brusho crystals are activated by water, and epoxy resin isn’t water-based. But I also wouldn’t say there’s no reaction at all to resin. If you check out this tumbler video where I first tried Brusho, you’ll see some changes.
czcams.com/video/AxY78q8zOdw/video.htmlsi=GptJ9kwrSNiUON6C
Does this heat up while curing? Is there a depth limit like epoxy?
Great questions!! It definitely gets warm as it sets up, but not hot. And so far, I haven’t found any depth restrictions at all, with my testing or in the company’s literature.
@@LuxindasOtherObsessions Happy Birthday!!!!
How about molding with Aqua Cast, then break a piece off, put back in the mold, then pour resin?
Ooooh, that's a great idea -- thank you!!! I'll add it to my list!
what about adding alcohol ink or mica powder????🤔🤔🤔🤔
Mica powder, definitely! I’m not sure about alcohol ink - I don’t know if there would be some odd reaction between the powder and alcohol… but it would be a fun test!
