Nothing funny about throwing large Koi into the water. THEY DON'T LIKE IT! We've had Koi for 30 years, and would never treat even our smallest that way. Koi are smart, sensitive fish and should be treated as such. Terrible.

@@starrfaithfull6934 They are handled this way because if large powerful Koi are not quickly returned into the water after transport out of water, they will thrash and struggle as soon as they feel thenselves reentering the water, thus increasing the possibility that they will injure themselves. It is for very practical reasons that experienced Koi breeders try to minimize stress and injury to their fish; injures can become foci of infection, and also reduce the value of the fish. Stress also increases risk of disease. For the same reasons, large Koi are handled without nets whenever possible, and shallow scoop nets are used when netting is necessary.

Baby koi bought at my local pond supply store in Canada for $8 each, raised for 4 years and they are 18 inches long and growing , just as colorful.
