- The LA Clippers have lost in the 1st Round of the NBA Playoffs two straight years. While not having a healthy Kawhi Leonard is the biggest reason for that, the recent loss of Paul George doesn't put them any closer to title contention. So how can they get back to being a serious contender?
In this episode, die hard Los Angeles Clippers fan and Host Darian Vaziri explains how the team can get back to title contention potentially. He starts by addressing what he feels is a missing piece at the 4, then talks about the main reason which is Kawhi's health. Addition by subtraction. Without Russ, we diminish turnovers and missed layups. While PG gave us outside shooting, without him we diminish over dribbling and relying on 3pt shooting. Also, it is a dumb idea to have Kawhi play the 4 position.

Look at Kawhi teams that won championships, he never play the 4 he was at the SF position. In the spurs Tim play the 4 and in Toronto Siakam play the 4. They need to get a solid PF, also this team need Mann & Zubac to have a breakout season to have a fighter chance at a championship. If this season a failure expect Kawhi and Harden Trade next year.

Not gonna lie you are spot on about John Collins. He is the exact fit we need in terms of his fit and also his situation. Looks like Utah is looking to rebuild but if clippers aren’t going to give draft capital (which they SHOULDNT) then they will want probably Norman Powell or Mann and I don’t know if it’s worth it at that point

I know the conference is tough but those three teams still have great star players in Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Steph Curry, and yes Draymond Green even though i know he doesn't add much from a scoring perspective like the other guys.
I believe all 3 will be in that 44-50 win range.
The issue is whether or not that gets you a top 6 seed or finds you in a play in game as a 7 thru 10 seed.
I was looking at seeding in relation to titles and if you are not a 1 thru 3 seed your odds of becoming champion is next to impossible.
If i'm not mistake only the Hakeem led Rockets were able to win a title as less than a 4 seed.

Only a few would agree but the clippers are a much better team because we finally got some grit guys and defenders. Our biggest off season signing was Jeff Vangundy he will help the role players and young guys ready to contribute. Vangundy is great at this sort of thing.

It continues to baffle/blow my mind that the Clippers aren’t making an upgrade at the 4 a top priority! It makes absolutely no sense if they don’t pick up more length and size at the four. Kawhi, our franchise player, likes to play at the three so why are we having him play at the four? Also, our lack of depth and size in that position really hurt us last season as evident in the Dallas series, as well as when we played bigger teams like Denver, Minnesota and the Lakers. We don’t need more guards, we need more length and athleticism at the four and five. Without it, we will continue to get bullied and steamrolled.
Also, I continue to question Ty Lou as a coach. He has proven countless times year in and year out to make poor decisions and likes to go small when that doesn’t work in the west. It worked for Golden State Warriors because they had two of the best/most prolific shooters of all time. We don’t have that luxury. In short, if we don’t get more athletic and bigger at the four, it is going to be another embarrassing season of underperforming.
The optimistic take is that IF Kawhi is healthy come postseason, even right now without any additions we have an improved roster compared to what we had in that 1st round against Dallas last season, since you’re basically going from PG to Kawhi, and trading Russ, Coffey and Plumlee for Dunn, DJJ, Nico, and Bamba. That’s a better team and we did take the eventual West champion to 6. However, I do agree the 4 is a big need especially in the reg season to keep Kawhi healthy, be able to sit him in b2b, etc. We’d be able to roll with Harden, Mann, DJJ, Collins, Zu for a few games where Kawhi rests. That’s still good enough to go .500 during those stretches.

Ok Darian decent takes, but I don't think they should upgrade the roster, because they will throw away first round picks to do so, and the 2030 and 2031 first round picks are pretty awesome, plus we don't control our picks till 2030 so... Also you cannot throw the precious picks you have in a player who's constantly unavailable. I'm sorry for Kawhi, he's great but this is gonna be the case once more, I'm sure. Stay put, maybe some new guy shows up (Bones, Kobe Brown, or Miller), with potential trade value in the deadline,and go to the play in and hope the Rockets go say in the 10th or 9th spot, so that OKC swaps with their pick and we keep our own

The Clippers are going to manage Kawhi Leonard's health properly this season they want him fully ready for the playoffs so he'll play about 60 to 65 regular season games and then get shut down until the playoffs start simple
This roster is weak and aslong as Kawhi is the head of the snake then we can kiss any hope of a championship goodbye. Title contention 10 years from now perhaps.

If we can get Zubac to average 14-16 ppg, Mann 11-13ppg and Norm 18-20ppg and also secure a forward like Dorian Finney Smith and of course Kawhi stay healthy averaging close to 26-30 ppg we can definitely be a championship contender. I think if Zubac can be a contender for most valuable player next season we have a great chance. The first game of the playoffs last season showed me something. He can do things if he’s given the opportunities with PG gone, with the help of harden he can be more of a factor on offense. Also without pg and Russ less bad decision making we’ll be more of an efficient offensive attack. Also norm will benefit greatly with more shots

I think the door is always open for Paul George to come back to la despite that he said that hurt well the fact that he said hurts but I am going to put that to the side and that's because without him the clippers would have never even came close to beating Dallas
As a Kawhi fan, I believe he should consider retiring if he can't stay healthy this season.
His training is obviously not working. He needs to go outside of what he's been doing. IMO, he needs to contact the Knees Over Toes Guy and have him help rebuild his knees.

@@LockedOnClippers I know it's hindsight, but at the time, I didn't want them to trade SGA. I blame Kawhi. If he had come without requring the Clips to get PG, we would have kept SGA and a bunch of draft picks, and we would be OKC and OKC would not be the team they now are.
So we gave in the Kawhi, and he still failed to deliver. I don't care what the reasons are. The bottom line is he didn't deliver.
