This was the original national anthem but someone arm twisted someone to accept jana gana mana. But still there was a deadlock and couldn't decide on one. So today, both jana gana mana and vande mataram are official national anthems of our country.

@KishorVR There is still some confusion. Rabindranath Tagore' Jana Gana is the national anthem. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhya' Vande Mataram is the National song of India.
