Hi Deborah.. Lovely to hear from you my friend.. I have to admit that I was getting fed up when I wrote this song, but I feel I got a good song out of it.. So it was not all bad news.. Over the years, my biggest failing was not pushing my songs enough.. I found it difficult as most companies did not even want to listen to an unknown songwriter.. The reason given was you had to either be known by a company employee or you had to submit original songs via a music lawyer.. (The old saying of - It Is Who You know, comes to mind) Still, nowadays, it does not bother me anymore.. And I did get a few of my songs published.. But that is another story.. Keep well my friend.. There is too much power in the wrong hands and not enough in the right hands. Really nice Peter! This sounds amazing. Nicely written and wonderfully produced. It's got a real late Seventies West Coast vibe to it - which I love! Got a real Little River Band feel to it. On first listen I took the lyrics to be somewhat metaphorical-- that the singer was thinking of giving up on love and the line "still music in me" was referring to love for the girl still in his heart. But I'm straight now. Again, I'm very impressed by the musical skills of the entire group-- you, Russel, Andy and Ellen. As far as success in music goes, that doesn't always go hand in hand with a successful marriage. Your career in the Scottish civil service was a way to support your marriage to Yvonne and the kids. We make our choices, and you can't have everything. You wouldn't trade what you have had in this life for musical fame and fortune, I'm sure. Really nice Peter! This sounds amazing. Nicely written and wonderfully produced. It's got a real late Seventies West Coast vibe to it - which I love! Got a real Little River Band feel to it. The guitar sounds amazing too. Totally empathize with the message of the song. I guess at the end of the day we do it because we like you say we have the music in us and we gotta get it out. @@PeterStrachanMusic Reading the lyrics as I listen, I see now that this is a song of anguish by a songwriter still struggling to find recognition and thinking about giving it up. On first listen I took the lyrics to be somewhat metaphorical-- that the singer was thinking of giving up on love and the line "still music in me" was referring to love for the girl still in his heart. But I'm straight now. Again, I'm very impressed by the musical skills of the entire group-- you, Russel, Andy and Ellen.
As far as success in music goes, that doesn't always go hand in hand with a successful marriage. Your career in the Scottish civil service was a way to support your marriage to Yvonne and the kids. We make our choices, and you can't have everything. You wouldn't trade what you have had in this life for musical fame and fortune, I'm sure. You do great work in the studio and produce lovely albums.
