I enjoy both versions of "Gaslight" for different reasons. Altho' this version is perhaps a little more gruesome, but I find Charles Boyer's characterization a bit more sinister, than Anton Walbrook. He has this sneer that gives me shivers. And Angela Lansbury was also wonderful as the maid. In any event both are noteworthy and should be seen. Thanks for posting this wonderful film!

I prefer Actress Angela Lansbury's sly maid to this one. This version excellent in the details of Gaslighting, the lies he weaves, expressions of mental breakdown are remarkable to second version.

@@janellmunson8084if OP would've read the description they would've seen that this movie is AKA "A Strange Case of Murder". This is an earlier (1940) British adaptation. The more well known/popular version of "Gaslight " was made in 1944 w/Ingrid Bergman n Angela Lansbury, which is what I'm assuming OP is referring to as the "original". However, imo it's kind of like comparing apples n oranges here lol..I don't think the channel was trying to imply that this was the original version, just a different one if that makes sense.
