You know something sad? In this Japanese pamphlet/comic I read in college, talking about the wonders that robots will bring, they have similarly gendered notions of how technology will change life. But they make it clear that the way robots will "improve" women's lives is by taking over all the domestic labor, so that women can focus their efforts on bearing more children. Like, the ideal housewife in this hypothetical future doesn't even get to do housework. She's just a glorified broodmare.
