The caterpillars removal is so cathartic. Those bastards have decimated my tomato plants when I wasn’t paying attention.
I have chickens. Watching them fight over a big juicy caterpillar is the best.
The fact that the raised part of the caterpillar is it's butt always caught me off guard

These ongoing animal sagas are better stories than modern Hollywood movies and shows.
We keep some plants for the caterpillars to eat safely. When we see one on a vegetable or a nice plant, we move them to the other side of the backyard away from the orchard so they can eventually become months and butterflies. There aren't many around here anymore, so in my house we try to save the few caterpillars we find. I love finding the cocoons and watch them slowly evolve
They do become butterflies or moths
@@skootergirl22 we have false monarchs, giant yellow butterflies, little white ones and the chubby moths from the fat green caterpillars. It was difficult to get my grandparents to not kill caterpillars, but eventually they also joined my efforts

Those are tomato hornworms. They will devour tomato plants until there is nothing left. We pick them off and destroy them. I learned recently that they are hummingbird moths. They are often mistaken for hummingbirds.
We do that too, we preserve some space specially to cabbage for the cabbage white butterly species ☺️ the kids and I love seeing them grow and turn into butterflies. Teaches the kids that we're not the only ones who need to eat and that even though we own the property, we share it with the animals.

Yes, it was. The past life of the puppy was another new moment in KLR videos that I wish would not appear anymore. I can barely tolerate a rat and two cats. Fun fact for people in the comments, the reason why cats go crazy for catnip is because it naturally deters mosquitoes. Not all cats have a reaction to catnip (only about 50%), but the ones that do rub all over it to coat their fur in it for the repellent factor.
