You were basically right, when you compared "fantasy metal" to "heavy metal". Those terms are umbrella terms, that are highly overused. ^^
However, it's true that power metal and many other sub-genres very often revolve around fantasy themes, but not always. That's why the term is flawed.
Also, as someone who grew up with power metal in the past two decaces, I know this song is a banger. :D
