      "Dogs chasing fox"
It is not illegal to flush foxes with dogs.
Do you really think huntsmen are supposed to carry around "doggy bags", picking up after each one? Come on!
What is your definition of a "walkway"!? It is not illegal for a hunt to use a public road either. In fact, riders have more right to use a road then you do in your car. You need a licence for your car, but anyone has the legal right to walk or ride along any road except a motorway, in the UK.
What about kennel cough? Is it illegal for dogs to have it? I didn't know that!
You don't have to keep dogs on leads everywhere you know. And imagine thirty to forty fox hounds on leads! And please, what is your definition of a "public place'?
How is it cruel to the terriers? That's an argument I haven't heard before!
How is "driver in vehicles at danger"?

Its not the same argument, wildlife control with guns etc as predator control vs what is literally defined as a sport, for sports sake, fox hunting provides no benefit to predator control. It just a narcissistic way to enjoy suffering. Technically, hunting makes the fox gene pool stronger at predation, as only those with the wits to escape, survive. Guns dont discriminate. The energy expended to remove a single fox by a hunt is not efficient. All the cost of those horses and dogs, and half the time they dont get the fox, it can outwit them when they are not digging them out and trapping them for their cause.
The argument they use is they dont hunt foxes. It is banned, they clean boot hunt, so why would fox control be used as an argument by you or them, since the ban unless illegal hunting continues? Its just admittance of hunting foxes with dogs.

The hounds were let loose ad mixed with people, large and small dogs.
Nobody was hurt by the hounds, in fact I was surprised how big they were.
I had the pleasure of meeting Nigel Farage there, an advocate of rural traditions.
Nobody discusses the impact of foxes in urban regions but as town/city dwellers the effect that they have there.

Foxes are rarely able to kill chickens, stupid stories about foxes killing more than they eat is rubbish. They are only acting naturally by seeking food, in the wild they might only be able to catch one if they got lucky. The fact is many chickens traped in a cage means they cannot escape so any predator would act instinctively and kill several because the chickens aren't able run away.
Furthermore, if the owner of chicken coup doesn't ensure their cages are properly built and safe from predators its the responsibility and fault of the owners.

are part of rural history. A terrified animal? - hah! more sanctimonious indulgence in "personnification"
of animals. The fox is a redator that preys without mercy on livestock within its range and ability,
check a raided hencoop for the bloody evidence of its lust insofar that it runs amok without any
restriction on "killing and eating what it needs". Would this view of animal cruelty extend tp rats
and the like? I doubt it very much. More humbug from a limited viewpoint that would even extend
its state of mind to horse racing. Too many townies moving into the countryside talking from an

Hunting should never have been banned. It has an important role to play in the countryside and is an activity participated in by tens of thousands. Numbers of foxes killed are small. Culling by hunting is also much “cleaner” than by farmers shooting them. Whilst the optics may not be good, the fox is long dead before it is set upon by the hounds.
What really matters are the huge issues relating to transport of live animals and industrial-scale farming and fishing. The ban was partisan politics at its worst - the vast majority of the left have never liked it. The ban was a blatantly politicised move when Blair introduced the Hunting Act in 2004 - I recall that at the time he needed to placate the left-wingers in his Party. Hunting was made the sacrificial lamb.
Also, the Lord Burns Inquiry into hunting, instituted by the Labour Government in 1999, did not come to the conclusion that hunting was a cruel activity. The Government still proceeded with the ban as Blair needed to buttress his own position. The whole thing was a disgrace.
Most people who hunt have a deep love for animals and would never do it if it was blatantly cruel. My wife used to hunt regularly yet she had the deepest love for animals - always the first to rescue a wounded bird or deer. In terms of overall animal welfare, hunting is just a sideshow.
The supreme irony is that the vast majority of the antis (including virtually every single Labour MP) want to themselves hunt down and persecute a small rural minority - people who are not their natural supporters and who are detested, That is politics at its very worst, plain barbarism and savagery.

The real menace to farmers is domestic dogs, that attack and kill sheep. Just up the road from where I live, on National Trust land, a pregnant Highland cow was driven to her death by dogs chasing her. The incident prompted a law that domestic dogs must be on a lead around livestock. About six weeks ago I was up there - and there, two gates have to be passed through, each with an unmissable sign that dogs must be on a lead IT'S THE LAW, but of course the person there with their dog amongst the cattle, had it off the lead.

Reports of livestock being worried or killed by dogs are all too frequent here in the south-west, but still I see dogs off the lead amongst livestock.

OK bottom line ..... assess a conversation with more than 'opinion'. How many cognitive biases? You CAN NOT base an argument on 'tradition' or how many people follow it. It has to be logically and some what scientifically approached. The point that many folks like it is invalid as it DOES NOT equate to being right just by numbers of followers. AND tradition means nothing unless you can give reasoning and clear meaning to the activity and see the measured pros and cons. You cant support an argument if you deliberately cause suffering, obviously. So tradition doesn't equate to being right automatically either. Making someone unhappy because they cant inflict suffering is not a proper argument. It has been shown that hunts do kill foxes and many of these instances are not prosecuted. It is very much like a loop hole because you just say 'whoops it was an accident'. The hunt set up is to find a fox and kill it, its like saying you will drive a car and not turn left or right, its pretty much unavoidable, just as its almost impossible to stop a pack of hounds from actually chasing a real fox once they start. The situation means its OUT OF CONTROL and ultimately leads to killing the foxes illegally. SO YES ITS A 'LOOP HOLE'. Countryside spokesperson was using avoidance and unconscious appeal, not a reasoned point. Might be worth him reading more on philosophy and psychology to understand a more solid foundation?

You dont speak for all country folk. You should move to the city if you're scared of a little fox.

Thank you for your great work in trying to get this banned. Fox hunting is a barbaric cruel thing to do and causes terrible pain and stress to the fox. Please keep reporting on this.

Foxes need to be controlled. Hunting controls them selectively, usually only taking the weaker and older foxes, leaving the younger individuals to then go on to breed. It culls enough to keep the population from increasing exponentially, but not so many it threatens the species with local extinction. No other method does this. Look up the mesopredator release hypothesis.

More political time and capital wasted whilst the once great SS UK sinks below the waves as a result of politicians failing to deal with the real issues.

Why do people feel the need to constantly push their own beliefs onto others. At the same time i bet if there was an attack on something they do they would be crying and saying its unfair. Isnt it about time we all minded our own business before we make this country total intolerant of everything and no one can do anything other then the prescribed and approved activities that are allowed by government. These s activities provide a lot of much needed jobs to people in the countryside just remember that when your feelings are hurt that you are trying to put people out of work because of your ideals.

Utter BS! And yes, I DO live in the countryside and most people in the the countryside are NOT involved in this blood lust sport and many farmers find the hunt a nuisance, but dare not say so if they are tenant farmers.

😂😂😂 I don't agree with the fox hunting ban but what jobs does it provide to the countryside!?!

    • @davidb9835
      @davidb9835 Před 8 měsíci

@BoomerForever hound master, stables, farriers, all the other jobs that surround every aspect of people lives you have a narrow view. These things don't just "happen". Look at any sport or activity there is a huge infrastructure based on things we do. Walking people who make boots/shoes all the clothing everything. No mater what we do there are jobs involved that people get paid for, in the case of fox hunting which isn't fox hunting anymore cause it was banned it provides jobs for the local economy in those areas. People go to prison for actual fox hunting, so this really is just on an attack on what people see as privilege.

This is not about putting their beliefs on anyone it's about protecting vulnerable animals that CANT speak lots of things are still happening that would be much better changed

    • @davidb9835
      @davidb9835 Před 8 měsíci

@teresabyrne855 they are hardly vulnerable the damage death and destruction they cause to flocks is unbelievable. And I'll say it again fox hunting was banned, they chase a scented wrag now. Anyone who kills a fox goes to prison, so no this isn't about the foxes it's an attack on people they see as privileged.

In terms of wildlife management, hunting with hounds is a selective way of managing the fox population, in the same way wolf packs target weak, sick injured and old animals, hound packs operate the same way. The weak sick old and injured are generally the animals which cause issues with livestock, because it presents an easier opportunity. Now riflemen at 200 yards away are unable to tell if they are either healthy or weak foxes, so the the fox population is not being managed properly and more are being killed as a result.
Healthy foxes find it very easy to evade hounds, hounds aren't particularly bright, hound packs killed weak specimens and kept the population in a better state. Unfortunately this has never been about wildlife management its about perceived rich vs poor, left vs right, and a totem for perceived class hatred
