Where is the old grease going? I don't see any coming out, or know where it would come out through.

It should push the old grease out around the bearing you are greasing. That being said it may only push our new grease is there isn’t any old in it

@@Howell_Outdoors Thanks. Another question: is grease gun nozzle standard? It seems to me that the nipples of different parts of my new mower that need grease (belt drive bearing and swivel wheels) are different sizes. How do you identify the nozzle you need?

You can’t. Unless you take stuff apart and risk breaking it

How about tapping and adding a Zerk fitting to the swivel-wheel spindles? Might be a worthwhile upgrade.
