I have this lens and I’ve seriously never had a problem with it
What is your camera bro?
Me either
Some of us are a bit fussy to say the least, and I am one of those people. I now use a Canon EF 300mm f/4 L IS USM which for my photography type, feels much more versatile for the job.
same
@@cmdrstarlord6645 yes but for sub 200 bucks you wont find anything better. of course a 100-400 is better
I bought this lens second hand for EUR 40 (about $45) and I made some amazing pictures with it. I always shoot in RAW and use Lightroom. I was surprised that such a cheap lens could still do such a great job. For professional nature photographer I would of course advise a better quality and much more expensive lens but for an amateur like me it is good enough.
Exactly, I bought it to start getting into photography without breaking the bank. Is it the best? no, but can you get really good photos, yeah. It doesn't have IS, well I normally use a tripod, something I feel every photographer should have, for freehand is not for me, my pulse is always shaky. And after 2 years of usage, yes I am looking into upgrading to a better lens, but I never regretted my purchase. If you are just starting out, and really want a telephoto lens and are low in cash flow, I would recommend this; yes if you are more advance or pro, yes skip it.
Funny, the Tamron he recommends, I have been told by many that use it, not it isn't very good, lol
For under $100 this lens is AWESOME... Not to mention it takes beautiful pictures too.
Hey would you say they're any different quality to the 18-55mm? Looking to upgrade but don't want to spend tons of money :)
@@lib8357 You can interchange both lenses. That's what I do. The main difference is the 18-55 has image stabilization and takes wider shots. The 75-300 does not.
The 75-300 takes far away objects close up shots. I find it has a nice clean image quality, and for the low cost, highly worth it.
Stabilation? Have or not?
@@Holiday-home-Dunamis does not have stabilization.
@@lib8357 just get the 55-250, it's a far better quality lens and it has stabilization which is incredibly important with telephoto lenses
This is a beginner lens and it's not your $3500.00 lens, not to many people can afford the " expensive " lens while we are learning it is a awesome lens. I like many others comments here have taken some very fine pictures with this lens. When I can make lots of money for a business than I will think about it.
My favorite lens is the 50mm 1.8 from yongnuo best $60 I spent works amazing for portraits and I've used the 50mm 1.2L and that was softer focus than mine wasn't too impressed with it. I know it was softer because of the large f-stop sure this lens for $60 is plastic but if you aren't rough with it it will work fine and last.

Not everyone is rich bro
Exactly
He recommends another lens instead that is about the same price.
These people thing quality matters.. But some for us money matters first
@MultiDavid997 Here in NZ(online store pricing, often overpriced for everything, but equally overpriced between products) it's nz$300 vs $350 for the EF-S lens.
The Tamron suggested is certainly a lot more expensive(about 2.5x), but I'd imagine people on a budget are usually not using a full frame camera.
A cheaper Tamron is $nz300, reviews seem ok but it seems to have some of the same issues as the Canon = Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro Lens.
VC seems to standard for vibration compensation, so the cheaper one doesn't have that. Presumably there are other differences.
Either way, second hand could be a better/cheaper option.
Very good reply for this vedio i like it
Over 3 years later, I have this lens and honestly I've really enjoyed it. It's no $1,000 telephoto lens, but for around $100 I consider it an absolute steal
I have this Lens. All the photos I have taken on it has been to my liking. If i have any complains, it is that it doesn't have image stabilization, apart from that i like it- it gets the job done, and gets it done well.
Jacob Raji pls tell me is 75-300 lens have image stabilization or not?
No IS, one of many reasons the 55-250 is a better choice
@@roziakterlucky7629 There's is a 75-300 IS, but I can't find any reviews. The pictures are out there, though: album.foto.ru/photos/pr0/271014/1489439.jpg
I have this lens aswell. I don't like it and would have gone with a different kit if I knew. The chomatic aberration is horrible with water and other high contrast situations. I need to correct almost all photo's.
Maybe there is a lot of spread in quality with this lens where some are okay and other are unacceptable.
@@roziakterlucky7629 No does not have image stabilization. It also uses a DC motor so drains the camera battery a little faster than normal. What do you expect? It's price is fantastic and it does generate great pictures.
He said this lens sucks, but then recommends the Tamron? I quit watching.
that tamron lens is a lot better though.
@@avishekghatak2176 i've used both side by side and the canon is waaay better
@@Daniel-dj7fh it really isn't man. I believe you're just bullshitting to try to prove a point. The 75-300 is extremely soft, and without image stabilisation the photos are garbage. The Tamron creates much better photos.
The lens is fine stop hating bro.
Yes I also dont see anything else with 300mm to compare
tossed mine in the trash where it belongs
Any of Canon's own 70-300 lenses are much better than the 75-300
Burn it now you can! Or trash it immediately!
@@MattCookOregon I shoot both depends on what the subject matter is .that's why Iam a professional photographer for over 30 years
I think this is a great lens for my kiddos to learn with on my old canon bodies. This keep them from using my L lenses in similar range. Picked up for $45 new from Target.
LOL, how old is your kid?
45 from target? shits ~200€ everywheere in germany
@@Daniel-dj7fh Yes. It was at one point. Since then, the price has gone up to regular.
Totally agree. Was given an early version that had only been used once and put back in the box. Works ok on my Canon 200D up to about 200mm but over 200 and the AF struggles to focus (regardless of metering etc) and keeps hunting even on objects with high contrast. Manual focus isn't much better either. At full zoom it's too easy to miss the sweet spot because focus ring has 'stiction'.
This is actually a good lens. Be careful who's reviews you follow.
false. apparently you don't know what good is
@@natalieisagirlnow Nah. It's a good lens.
it seemply can not be good if it is zoom lense and no stablizer.
@@SergiiStarodubtsev It's not a pro lens...we all know that, but for what it is and what it cost... it's a good lens. I've found great uses for it and I've kept it in my inventory. If it needs to cost and arm and leg and have locks n' shit to be good to you... then rock on bro.
@@YourWifesRealBoyfriend how it could be good if one can't use it for long distance shooting if it comes with no stabilization. Cheap, not Pro should not be interfere with not ability to use it easily for zoom shooting. Every shoot with no stabilization of distant object is -1 to lense value and vasted shot & time.
One would need to carry a tripod for all time to use this lense. I agree with author's arguments. Because he has some.
Picked this up for $40.00 and have to say it's definitely worth it. Of course it has flaws, but for those that have little cash, this will more than suffice, and will make them better photographers.
40 dollars, are you out of your mind, this lens is not even worth 10 dollars!
I use this lens as part of my Canon Trinity of 16-35mm EF L f/4 and the new 28-70 RF L f/2. Honestly, this lens is good enough for my use, took several keeper photos, and the need to replace this isn’t even a consideration. It has its limitations but the reach of the 300mm is hard to ignore. Use of a tripod will maximize the potential of this lens.
I think the build quality is just all over the place with these. I've got one. The barrel is stiff and when I get some shots in focus, the CA is so bad that sometimes nothing can help. The plus side is that for a $60 telephoto zoom lens, I couldn't be happier.
It seems like this lens is only especially bad on full-frame cameras or for macro shots. But, full-frame users wouldn't buy something this cheap, and nobody buys a telephoto lens in the hopes of getting close up to their target. The vast majority of its issues are substantially minimized on APS-C. The only frequent issue I've noticed is chromatic aberration, which modern cameras can heavily minimize.
Also, mine seems to be substantially quieter when focusing. You can definitely hear it but it isn't so annoying.
Thanks for the video very informative
On full frame this is definitely quite a good lens. Perhaps there is a lot of sample variation as it's so cheap, but it's definitely not as hard to get good images from as this video implies.
I am actually finding this lens to be superb on full frame vs. crop!
Is it a 98-480mm lens on apps-c
Nope multiply the focal length x1. 6 if your shooting Canon aps-c sensor and 1.5 for Nikon camera aps-c sensor that's the difference between full frame and crop sensor
I was getting some blurry ish shots from mine but its important you remember to shoot at 1/focal length for shutter speed or use a tripod, i have a crop body so at 300mm it is actually 480mm. The shots at 1/320 and 1/200 are noticably blurry, but ones at 1/800 are excellent!
Good lens for the money and its the most affordable way to get into nature photography
or get good lenses that let in light
This lens has been good to me for a few year's. If it has any down side the stabilizer not the best. But never had problems. We still use them in our company. Maybe u got a detected 1
I've just bought this lens real cheap (£50) on ebay for adapting to my Sony 6300 and so far I'm loving it. The autofocus struggles a bit for small subjects, but it's not a native lens and I'm a big boy and can manual focus. The images are sharp and the colours rich and sumptuous. Don't know why you're hating on it.
The point is the price. With just a little bit of know how this lens can produce fine photos. It’s not for video and you do need to use a tripod at slow shutter speeds. However, in strong light it works just fine, such as daytime shooting at the beach or a park.
That's why they are 85 bucks online!
Could you do a comparison of the tamron 70 300 and this lens???
While researching this lens as a novice photographer, I have been watching many videos pro and con... but yours, while telling me I shouldn't invest in one, was thee most entertaining. But please forgive me if I ignore your warnings and buy the lens for $40 at a used shop this afternoon. ;)
So have you bought it? Do you like it or have you wasted $40? :)
Considering I am a novice, I am not fully aware of all the elements you pointed out completely but do understand and recognize your concerns and gripes. The auto stabilization is something I do recognize as a feature it needs to have at closer lens views and the lack of smooth manual focus as you turn the lens "drum." However I managed to get some decent shots at my beach of surfers at a good distance... I think it will serve my needs for now at that used price. As a beginner, (shooting with a very old Canon Rebel T1i here :p) I gain knowledge from your insights and will research better reviewed lenses as I become more proficient. Thank you.
Bought this for $75, killer cheap learner lens on a new full frame, requires skill to stabilize, and skill to avoid its weaknesses.
I’ve had this lens for a while and for what I use it for and not having money to blow on a new nice telephoto lens it’s my go to lens and i use it for landscape and wildlife that isn’t super far away and I honestly have no complaints except for one or two I can’t really think of
Could I ask please if this would fit on my Canon 700D and 2000D if the EF manual is correct. Many thanks. Robert.
I use it for wildlife Photography I use to get camouflage, learn about the animal behavior and habitat to get closer I use a tripod to be more stable over 200mm also manual focus with all the focus points activated and it works flawlessly
I have these same issues. But my gf tried it with her 5D mk IV and got decent pictures with no aberration or other issues. Guess the camera matters somehow too.
Why people keep saying this lense is bad i have this lense and its good its worth 200 its not that cheap
i have this lens and actually my results with it are quite good. Not as bad as you said. Pictures are good up to 200mm then from there quality drops fast, but i never used 300mm so much. Actually one of my best photo i took with that lense, maybe i ve got a good copy, i dont know
It is good for sport photography?
I had this lens back in the 90s on EOS film cameras. It wasn't very good at 300mm even with film. I agree the 55-250 stm is remarkable.
I do understand that no lens is good at their maximum length . But this is a good lens if you learn to use it.
I have used this lens for 3 years and have no complaints.
In spite of all negative comments, he is correct. Normally it sells for $299.00 and its on at BEST Buy for half price. Sure its OK if you paid $40.00 for it and gave it to your kids!
Just bought this for $30.. can't wait to try it..
Are those pictures you use in this video, using canon 75-300??
Learned my lesson with ef 28-135 is usm
The 35-80 might be a contender for least good canon lens. Anyhow, just received the 75-300 ultrasonic with broken AF. When I've finished my beer it'll be taken apart and made into a ludicrous macro lens by 3D printing a spacer to move the front group forward (if the AF can be fixed), or throwing most of it away, including the front group and moving the focusing group forward. Either way, fun for £33 - especially after a beer.
Aberration control profile for this lens is on my 6D.
Picked it up for about $12 plus $12 shipping brand new maybe not for photography but it could be used for sports events
from where bro?
@@4nar ebay
Ive had this lens for awhile and it never gave me any problems. If youre a pro then of course buy something better but for an amateur this is perfect. Daytime shots are pretty good and sharp but night shots can get a little fuzzy since it doesnt have IS thats pretty much my only complaint about it.
Every time I try to get rid of this camera, I simply can't. Yes, you need to know how, when, and where to use it, but when you do, it does an amazing job.
For the price, it's just a great tool.
With a full frame camera the output is really good.
I'd also say, because requires some craft, it is a learning tool that will make you a better photographer once you upgrade to a 70-200 or 100-400
I agree, I did a review search for this lens because I am having HUGE problems with it. Focusing was the BIG problem... I had endless problems and the lens was not a pleasure to use at all. I toggled between automatic and manual...found satisfaction with neither. It was recommended by a dealer, for me as a newbie using the Canon t6, because of its price and I regret buying it. I think perhaps he was trying to offload dead stock.
That 5:30 mark was savage dead-pan. Damn, son. if you got this lens and you like this lens and only are looking at reviews to figure out how bad a choice you made- if you can't be with the one you love, honey, love the one you with. 🤷🏻♂️
I’m going to say this… it is a tool. When someone sees your work; they are not going to say… this was shot on a “whatever”lens. They are judging on the story your image is telling and style; never the equipment! JMT… Keep creating art!
A lot of people do not understand photography
agree, i used this 70-300 - with stabilizer.
I'm a beginner with a Canon Rebel t3. It came with two lenses, but I don't know how to use them (of course).
1. the 18-55 mm only goes to f3.5 not lower. Do I need a different lens to go lower like f2-f1.4?
2. When I attach the 75 -300 mm lens and try to adjust the f-stops, it won't do it, it shows "f00"
Can anyone please help with this. Thanks!
Solid lens for Surveillance. Light small discrete. Can grab a license plate at 300mm no problem.
I have Canon 1300D and i have 18-55mm So I'm thinking to buy another lens So I'm thinking to buy 55-250mm lens will it be Good.
is this good for canon 80DS
if you wann give it away, i'd take it. But what other prisewise similar lense can you get. I've used the tamaron and canon 75-300 lense and the canon was way better
My copy is great. use it to train others on how to use a lens. Really sharp when used properly
What lens are u going to suggest is probably 2x more expensive. It’s a good lens I use it for wildlife and get sharp results.
Thanks
i dont know how you can say that, ive got a canon 75 x 300 and i find its a great lens for the price.i compared my lens with a friends canon 55 x 200 and i couldnt find a difference except the 55 x 200 had a stabilizer.
Niece arguments :)
I will be grateful for your help. I have an old Canon EOS450D with 18-55mm lens and 55-200mm lens, I am considering selling and buying a new one or buying a zoom for what I have. for what? I want to photograph birds, nature. what would you do? to buy a lens for what I have or for example some last year's zoom eg coolpix p1000 from nikon? thank you
P1000 is a toy, it would be a heavy downgrade in image quality compared to any DSLR, even older than your 450D. If you want a new(ish) fixed lens camera, take a look at Panasonic FZ300, FZ1000, Sony RX10III or IV. Avoid Panasonic FZ2500 or any camera with smaller than 1" sensor (FZ300 is only notable exclusion from this rule). If you want to stick to 450D get 55-250 IS STM for birding, or the new EF 70-300 IS II. It would be ideal to get something like Tamron 150-600 but that's huge and expensive, don't know what you budget is. There's a lot of choices today.
@@Camerahoarders thank you :)
Is theme lens great for dark pictures
Thanks for your video, recently I bought Canon eos 800 D. It has 18-55mm, And I don't know witch lens is good for this. I am a beginner not professional.
18-55 is perfectly fine for start, but i recommend etiing some primes, 24mm pancake and 50mm 1.8 will be great choices. czcams.com/video/mj5S8hxuAL8/video.html
Bought this for $99 for some portable astrophotography and it works fine with my crop sensor camera.
I use it for filming, and edit parts on Final Cut Pro, i use it full manual, and the results are good. Automatic focus is not always being a good photographer! Use it the way it must, not bad review but , i do not agree your review
It is very sharp lens on full frame and should be avoided in APS-C. It is perfect fit on Canon R6. It is little soft on R5 bit still works perfectly fine.
Hello CameraHoarders!!.. I need your help!
I need a new lens and making a jump from Kit lens!.
So which is better!. Canon 70-300mm IS USM or, Canon 55-250mm IS STM?.
Please help me.😊
55-250 for sure. Smaller, lighter, sharper, non rotating front element, closer focusing distance, latest more powerful IS generation and is cheaper.
is it good to use tamron 70-300mm on APS-C camera ?
is there any cons ?
It wld be more zoomed in because of the crop but i personally liked it
Does it have Image Stabiliser?
Is there stabilization?
Can I use 700d camera
My 55-250 far superior to this 75-300 which I regret buying. The far end focus accuracy is not even close to my other zoom. I suspect Sigma would be an improvement, I know Tamron has a better zoom since I own one but the contacts stopped communicating . I will watch more often and save myself some money. Thanks
In spite of you hating this lens, it does the job for the price!
The lens performs completely different on a full frame compared to aps c.
Is it really that bad of a lens for £80? I'm not expecting miracles but if it enables me to get photos that are out of the 24-105 range of my main shooter then I guess it does the job. Will see how it does though.
I bought this lens six months ago, I have used it very little, now the aperture ring is jammed - I agree with you - it's rubbish!
Can u plse suggest me shd i go for the canon ef 75 300 IS usm lens
USM is the same lens but little bit faster and little bit quiter.
I have this lens and want to sell it as I bought 70-300 f4-5.6 L. One thing I can tell you is the manual focus is very touchy as you go toward infinity. So if you want to take night pictures with the moon you will most likely need to manual focus. And this is where the difficulty comes in with that lens.
Worst lens ever i buyed
Yes
No.... it is not the worst lens Canon has built, is a regular lens with limitations, same limitations u need to understand in order to take a good picture
look, the canon 75 x 300 lens might be basic for photography but for videoing its a good lens ive had no problem with this lens even for photography.
I've just bought a Canon M50 kit and it's true the quality is not good but it's fine to learn. Or maybe I'm just saying this because I don't want to think my money is on the trash :')
Hey guys is this okay for Canon Eos 4000D?I need your help. Thank you in advance
I have it with 4000D and i can say, it's a good lens for that price. it will give you 480mm max focal length (because the APS-C crop factor).
i.ibb.co/5YzsbPx/IMG-1187.jpg
i.ibb.co/vmzGcvM/IMG-1090.jpg
It have a high chromatic aberration at 480mm (300mm), but it's a very cheap telephoto lens.
Ooooohhh.... Thanks a lot Sir
thank you!!! too late
hi can I use it for video shooting without stabilizer mode
Not really unless you don’t touch it while filming and leave it on a tripod
i don't get why people are complaining that it's a cheap lens, therefore is fine for a budget photographer. no it's not. he reviewed it based on its performance, not its value. there are far better, cheaper options that offer better optics and actually have stabilization, such as the 55-250mm. just because its cheap, doesn't justify the awful quality. look at the nifty fifty - it's the cheapest lens on the canon store, but has incredible image quality, although it is lacking in stabilization, though that is made up for with its fast aperture and intended use-case. just because you bought this lens and don't like that he said mean things about it, doesn't mean that the review is wrong, or bad. it means you don't want to admit to yourself that you wasted your money.
I like your accent, it’s really cool man.🙂
I used this lens, all my photos were ruined by sticky zoom wheel.
I wish I would have stumbled upon this video before buying one. At least I only paid $100. I wish personally also I never would have bought the Canon Rebel t7.
Bro best lens canon 75-300 tomran macro 70-300 whatever best tell me bros
You can fix most of that with the free version of light room lol
Darn.....this is my lens!
lol
dont regret. your lens is good enough.
Dose it fit on a canon 4000d camera
Yes bro, it actually sold together with 4000d in currys UK stores
I'm sure this reviewer is right on his points but however, FOR THE MONEY it's fine. I love how all these reviews come down to recommending a thousand dollar lens. Well no shit! But for weekend snappers like me who mainly shoot in the daylight, and use decent shutter speeds, it does alright. It's 83 bucks like new condition on MPB right now and that's shipped!
Can i use this for Mirrorless? Beginner.
Yes with ef+m adapter
hey men what about the canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM
same thing
wait, sorry, you mean on the new one with LCD screen? Haven't used it yet, it is supposed to be a good lens. It's early I just woke up, I thought you ask about 75-300 II USM. :)
Thanks men
Considering DXO ranks the overall score of the 75-300 iii lens higher than several L lens I'd have to say, no its not the worst lens.
Where? DXO is shit anyway, placing smartphones over real cameras.
Oh it's terrible. The image quality is so bad. You have to mega crop the entire picture because it barely even zooms and it's not even sharp
Parfocal?
Parfocal means that the lens focus on the subject doesn't change when you zoom in or out. Useful for video more than still photography.
This lens is cool! What are you saying like ''worst lens''? It's one of the bests! Definitely it's one of the bests.
Tanks
I got my new rebal t6 bundle for $280.00 beans.. and they threw in a 75/300 paper weight lol
It's a good started lens I don't have $1300 for a lense
