The irish have been in mali since the 90s, so have many other UN forces. Its more of a combined effort
@@rhodanjones5155 maybe but it wasn't on the same scale. + France has a long tradition of being the African policeman (In mean in ex french Africa). For exemple France was involved in Chad in the 80s, Ivory coast in the 2000s and many more
The French, German, Dutch and Irish are all involved with Mali. Saying the French are the only reason for Malian Stability is insulting to every dead soldier of listed nations

None of the UN troops killed in Mali come from the Netherlands, Ireland, or Germany
All come from other third world states. French operation Barkhane is currently the only direct combat operation in the region.
Maybe you are insulting those fallen peacekeepers by thinking that they only hailed from Netherlands, Ireland, or Germany. France is certainly the only country that made the ultimate decision to launch an intervention back in 2013
@@rhodanjones5155 Irish troops went to Mali for the first time in 2014. 20 soldiers deployed to train parts of the Malian army (thus a non combat role). This deployment of Irish troops came more than a year after 5,000 French troops liberated the country in a war of rapid movement and heavy fighting. The Irish contribution has since increased to roughly 30 soldiers but still operating either as part of the EU training mission or as a reconnaissance force for the UN mission in the region. Currently French operation Barkhane is the only direct combat operation in the region with around 5,600 French troops deployed.
