LOVE the back ground music...!! 🐦🦜🐦🐦🐦
Thank you.. first positive comment in a long time!!
Let me explain something to you guys. The toothpaste has a mild grit to it, its taking a thin layer of plastic off of your head lights. They make head light repair kits that work alot better. (obviously) You'll completely destroy the head light with heavy grit sand paper, then get finer and finer until your polishing it. The toothpaste idea was a goof that actually worked.. Results may vary. Having people mock me is upsetting, because I did this to prove to you that it actually works.. and it clearly does. If I did it again, I bet it would have looked better the second time around... And enough with the bird... Its a mocking bird.. And it was defending her nest making that racket...lol
I used a magic eraser with the paste, and they looked great. It's a temporary fix, but works awesome on the cheap
+Robert Richard What a great idea! Magic Eraser!
Robert Richard is that a Clorox magic eraser?
Haven't tried idea yet but you did a great job explaining how to do it. Reading the comments makes me think some people don't know how to appreciate nature by complaining about the birds and some people commented how much they liked listening to the birds and told you so, I also enjoyed the chirps and you wrote a very good nice comment back. Thanks.
Joeteck you don't need to explain yourself to these people brother. Thanks
If people mocked you then "F" them! The results speak for themselves. To remove the toothpaste I used the 'gritty ' side of a common kitchen sponge with the sponge on one side and an abrasive on the other. Worked great! It took 5 minutes and the results were fantastic! Thanks and great tip!
Pinned! Awesome comment!!!
Today is the 6 year Anniversary of this video! Holy crap! Thank you everyone for watching and supporting my channel!
Yes were are..Its 2019 and Thanks for sharing..Im going to try it on my 03 Monte Carlo head lights.😀
Not here.. Long Island. NY
@@Joeteck in 2021
Wow, didn't know it was that easy! Will try it out. Thank you!
not only are those babies sparkling clean.. but they are minty fresh as well :)
Thankyou for the time and great tip ! Always looking for home products that help in other ways ! Great video. and again thanks for taking your time to help others !
I've tried many other things that haven't worked , so I'll definitely give this a shot!
Yeah this works. Loved the sounds of the birds by the way, made me enjoy watching.
Perfect!! PINNED!!!!!
Joeteck Thank you and thanks for sharing
I need to do mine, Thanks for the tip . Keep em coming.
Thx for sharing. Love the lesson and those peaceful birds.
Love the Mocking Bird in the back ground... nice!
I bought my Chevy venture in 2002 and from that time I never cleaned those lights but when I saw this video and tried it on my headlights the results were found to be magnificent. I did the process twice and the results were outstanding
Thanks Joe your the best.
Glad it worked out for you !
Very helpful and relaxing video with the bird song.
Thank you very much,.pinned!
Going to try this, thanks! I avoid flouride (city water and toothpaste) as it is really bad for you but I'm sure I have some around in my emergency backup supplies.
Loved the background birds. :)
If your bored check out my short post a message to our future.
Great idea. Great sound track as well!
I might try the toothpaste on my jag lights and compare it to using the proper perspex polishes (two grades) I have as well.
I'm loving the sounds of the birds..... 🐦🕊🦅
Thankyou for posting. My car has just failed its MOT for misty headlights so I will try this.
Thank you for taking the time to show us this easy, effective and very cheap method. Also, what a great avian concert! I wish I could wake up to this 🎶 every morning.
The abrasives in the toothpaste seem to be just right for the initial treatment of that badly deteriorated headlight housing. However, further improvement is possible, using the same technique a second time, this time with a clear plastic cleaner such as Meguiar's PlastX (at Walmart etc). The abrasives in a clear plastic cleaner are finer, and will further improve the result (a finer polish).
I just did this on my 2004 civic that had very cloudy lights.
I used a brush and a little water to help get the foam going but both lights have come up a treat.
Good video, thanks mate! 👍
Thank you so much for this and for taking the time to help others 😊
Tamar Salazar You are very welcome Tamar! Thank you for watching and becoming a subscriber!!
Joeteck I also subbed, after this worked!!! Saved 50 bucks!!
Very common problem thank you for uploading 😊😎😊😎😊🙏
Just did this on my 97 Ford Contour headlight. They are really yellowed. Found a very old tube of Crest whitening with baking soda. Did just as you did with no prep. The 1st round looked wonderful. Went ahead and repeated the process as before and now it looks brand new !!! Plan on hitting the other one tomorrow. Thanks again !
I do headlamp restoration, crest paste does not work, in order to get it nice and smoothy, they need to get sand down to remove the yellow film, by the Sylvania restoration kit, the best thing in the market.
Thanks Joe. I bought some special stuff to remove the haze but your results prove that there are cheaper alternatives. I have read that baking soda and vinegar with a little dish soap work also.
Great job Joe I followed your directions and it worked like a charm Thanks that's one for the good guys
PINNED! Awesome comment
Nice job! Thanks bro
The song birds lended a real nice extra special touch to this video.
Awesome. I'm trying to do a good clean up on my older car! Thanks for sharing!
Yes! I'm going to try this! (And I love the sound of all the birds in the background!)
That was a Mockingbird. We have them around here and they make a variety of other bird calls. I love them!
Very good! Correct!
The birds sound so beautiful it makes me want to sit on my porch drinking some strawberry lemonade!!!
Thanks!!!!
lemonade is made by LEMON ;)
I love the bird providing background music...beautiful! Just seeing this, so am anxious to try it myself! Thank ya Joe!
You're welcome. That is just one bird, crazy, right?
Wow you must have some beautiful birds around your home! Thanks for the review!
Thanks for the kind words... ;)
As soon as you clean all the toothpaste off add a coat of car wax to it just like you would your paint and it'll make it even clearer
Yt
The birds singing
Omg! Thank you for posting, I just bought a 2003 Nissan 350z, and the headlights were SUPER YELLOW. I thought I would have to spend hundreds of $$ to fix, nope...1oz of aquafresh! thank you so much, they look brand new.
Thanks for the tip. And that bird made for a killer soundtrack. :)
I love the bird. I love your reaction. I love this idea. I'm doing it!
Awesome comment
This works! I did this to my 93 Corolla!
You did a good job, Joe. Thanks!
my husband and i just tried this on his truck. it worked great and was super easy!! thank you very much for sharing your video.
Sharon Gayle very cool, thanks for the comment!
Omg awesome! & dang that bird was sooo loud lol
Sounds like you’re doing this demonstration somewhere in the Amazon river! Good job 👍
Lol
Was a bit sceptical after watching this.
Tried it tonight. Considering the cost and time spent; the result is fantastic! Thanks Joeteck!
Worked so well!!! I had doubts, but wow. Best hack ever. Thanks :-)
Those people complaining about the birds are so unaware of the beauty of life. They deserve to be put in a certain trap that will make them appreciate life. If not then we won't EVER have to hear from them ever again. It's called thinning out the trash.
That was a very thoughtful reply to everyone. I have pinned it for everyone to see! Nicely done!
I hardly noticed the bird, mostly the task at hand. Some peeps are waaay too nervy..

So let me understand your reasoning and thought process. To encourage people to appreciate the beauty of Life your approach is to take theirs? I think you might want to rethink your thought process there tough guy.
I just watched a few vidos on this and I liked yours the best because it is fast because it is cold winter where I am and I can;t work with gloves, Thank you.
Thank you Jim, That means alot coming from supporters like yourself. Its cold here too. Long Island, NY. I'm actually done with this crap! lol Thanks for the comment!
I just read 24F so I think I will see if it warms in a few days before I will try cleaning he headlights,
jim spry yeah, not going to work
Can't wait to try this. Love the sounds of the birds.
Thanks for the tip!...love the birds chirping!
Nice Video, Thank you sir for sharing this information.
You are welcome!
Up j jhhjo
It works! first i did not believe it, but then i did try it and it works! Thanks!
Thank you Kevin for your post!
No it didn't work
Just didn’t twice in 5 mins. Awesome results! I had already purchased a used one but now I can put it on the shelf . Saved me a bunch of time and money.
Pinned!!
Super excited to try this out this weekend :) I will take before & after pictures!!!
i am LOVING the birds chirping in the background!! :] also awesome to see that this works so well
It worked, thanks for making this video!
Glad I was able to help!
I'm only here for the birds.. The chirps relaxes me.. Remind me of of ol grandad countryside.
Great comment, probably one of the first positive about the bird in a long time!!
This worked great. Thanks. I read somewhere to add in bicarb soda. I did and scrubbed for 5 mins with toothbrush. Worked a treat.
Great tip. Worked a treat. Went ftom opaque yellow to clear see through in 10 mins of polishing. Best use for toothpaste yet.
Pinned!
Did you use Crest Complete Sensodyne, or just regular AIM?
@@djaftermath4313 did you watch the video? I show the tube used..
@@Joeteck I see it now, sorry about that. I'm getting old lol
@@djaftermath4313 aren't we all..lol
Works a treat, and my car smells so minty fresh....😂
It cleans your headlights well ,and gives you a minty finger 👍
spektrum33 lol, funny
Exactly! I only did it once! to show it does work. People need to see also that I dried the lens too. some people think its still wet, but its not! Thank you Ian!
Toothpaste in fact does work ((I used it on my truck)) but it depends on how severe your headlights are weathered. The minivan featured in this video only suffered from oxidized lens which is pretty easy to take out with toothpaste. Now if your headlights are scratched or have hard water staining on them then toothpaste will not work and that calls for either replacing the fixture or wet sanding them.
dsteward85 - Toothpaste does work on severely fogged and stained headlights. I have an 06, and I just tried the toothpaste on it, and it worked wonders!
Bring back the glass headlights and dump theses plastic lenses .
Used Colgate Complete on our 2005 Toyota Sienna and 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid and with minimal effort restored both sets of headlights!!! Some recommendations to consider...water the headlights down first before adding the toothpaste and let toothpaste sit for a minute or two before rinsing and wiping away!
glad it worked out for you..
Thank you Joe! really appreciate your advise, thats AMAZING!!!!👏👏👏👍
You're welcome! I reply to all comments directed to me! Glad you enjoyed it Angelyn!
Worked perfectly, thanks!
Ohhh i get it yellow teeth.... Yellow headlight makes perfect sense lol
Javier Saravia lmfao
I,m very happy for hearing this bird !!!
Blessed bird. 👀👆
Hey, thanks, this really works well for headlights that are not in bad shape, just a little hazy, EPIC.
Nice job, thanks for sharing, works great on my 2005 Volvo s-60 with 139,000 miles (and Perelli tires) smile Thanks Joe look forward to other you tubes from you
FYI, the haze is a product of the OEM coating breaking down. This coating has a UV inhibitor that prevents the plastic lens from effectively dry rotting and becoming brittle. Hence those little micro-fractures in the plastic you will see that form after prolonged use of polishes and compounds like this that simply smooth the surface but provide no protection to the plastic underneath from the sun.
It is far better to simply replace the UV inhibitors by repainting the lenses with a good quality clear coat by removing the headlights or taillights, wet sanding with 1000 grit, and painting the lenses with a good clear coat. Sound complicated but it isn't.
Use 3-4 even coats of Krylon Fusion Clear Gloss or Duplicolor Acrylic Clear Gloss (Both have UV inhibitors that protect the plastic). For best results, allow the paint to cure overnight before you gently wet sand the next day with 2000 grit and polish with an automotive rubbing compound.
Re-coated, the lenses will likely outlast the car and will require nothing more than the same coat of wax you should already be using on your cars paint.
I'm going to try this! Sounds far more logical - my BF is an automotive painter so what you're saying makes perfect sense!
Is the Krylon available in a spray can, or do you have to use a paint sprayer?
it's way easier to use the toothpaste. Provides the exact same results. Believe me. I live in the southwest desert and the toothpaste works!
Thanks bro
WHY DON'T THEY JUSS MAKE THEM OUT OF GLASS???? PROBLEM SOLVED!!! STOP THE PLASTIC STUFF!!! IN THE 50'S, 60'S, AND 70's, THEY USED GLASS. CHEAP BASTARDS!!!! BRING BACK GLASS HEADLIGHTS!!!!
Tata Nokomis true ! Out of thick glass though.
Thick clear glass not as thin as the plastic ones. You'll be on the freeway and those big trucks will throw rocks at your windshield and headlights and they'll eventually break and crack
I think it is now illegal to use glass for pedestrian safety.
Glass deal with more temperature.
AMEN FOR THE GLASS.. I Have a 1983 Buick Park ave With Glass Headlights... I Don't Know WHY They Started Making These Headlights PLASTIC.. That's Stupid of THEM..
80's and some 90's and 00's had glass headlights, a 1990 Chevy Cavalier has glass headlights, a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo has glass headlights, and a 2000 Jeep Cherokee has glass headlights.
Excellent vid...and the happy bird in the background makes it much more better...love him...
Mr.Joe Thank you for Headlight clean.
Pa Mok Pa-Mok thanks for the kind words sir!
Well done 👍😊but I like the birds singing to 🎶🎵🎶🐦
I love the sound of the birds in this video. So relaxing.
With the amount of snow the east coast has been getting, yes I agree.
Holy shit. That's pretty neat. Makes me VERY happy that I stocked up on toothpaste during my hoarding phase a few years ago. I'm gonna go try it out right now, thanks for the upload!
Well thank you 😊 love the birds 🦅 look you and your family stay safe Lyn

Men the bird singing ,you missed the bird awesome..
Fuck alright
THat is one happy bird in the background.
Incredibly effective low cost and practically effortless solution to a common problem.
I paid $30 to have them cleaned the previous time and the results were just as good using this method. Great share! Thanks...
PS It took 10 minutes of my time plus half a tube of toothpaste. Result!!
Then spray with some clear coat to prevent it from returning some say.
Joe....you are truly funny and have convinced me! I'm doing this tomorrow morning!! Thanks!!!

Dammit I wasted whole buncha money on tv crap that don't even work! My headlights just had some tartar? lol...Thanks for ya post bud.

@SS /Hey SS! What’s the matter with you?! Vast majority of viewers actually loved the bird chirping. Pay attention.
you have amazing birds.... mannnn am loving the background...
Greetings from beautiful BC!
This video is excellent, the only thing I would suggest is whenever doing this kind of remediation work it's always a good idea to get some 2in wide masking tape and mask off any painted area.
Love them birds singing 💙
I like the background sound 👍
Thank you
BMM wanted to charge me $175 just to wash my car. Thank you for saving me $175.....
