      eventually. he and the mayweathers tried to smear him with the steroid thing, after the fight he kept saying in interviews pac is fast but doesn't hit hard, blamed it on the weight drain. maybe it took years for him to come clean. maybe loosening the wig and fishnet bodysuit cleared his thinking

      Oscar was a great fighter and a true champion. You're right, he didn't duck anyone. He was the victim of some bullshit decisions i.e., Trinidad and Mayweather (it's the ONLY win on Floyd's record, that shouldn't be there). Also, by the time he faced Pacquiao, Oscar was done. He'd have beaten him, if they fought five years earlier. Anyway, great that De La Hoya is in hall of fame and has seemingly conquered his 'demons'. A truly talented fighter and a class act!

    Let's give credit to both fighters and stop making excuses. Oscar wasn't exactly old, 34-35 at the time of the fight. Yes, on the downside of his career, but still at the top at the time. Pacquiao came in and it wasn't even close. Pacquiao dominated the fight with ease and treated Oscar like he was an amateur. If it were a close fight, then I might think a few extra pounds for oscar and a couple years younger would have made the difference, but because it was a complete landslide victory for Pacquiao, not even a few pounds and few years younger oscar would have been able to beat Pacquiao. That's why Floyd has avoided Pacquiao for dear life. After Oscar took Floyd to a split decision (a fight in which many believe Oscar actually won), there's no way Floyd was going to fight Pacquiao seeing what he did to Oscar so easily. Imagine what he would have done to floyd too. I give oscar credit and respect for fighting pacquiao and admitting he was defeated. Floyd gets no credit or respect for ducking pacquiao and arrogantly calling himself the best when he avoids the best.

    • @hawkermustang

      Manny draining de la Hoya per freddie roach. Hes no fool. Floyd went up in weight to fight de la hoya. You didnt have a weight drained oscar fighting floyd. Just like cotto and every other fighter roach drained to give pac the advantage. Freddie doesnt like catch weights unless its in his favor. He even said it himself

    • @ipowers2927
      @ipowers2927 Před 9 lety +2

      hawkermustang and Shane Mosley did the same thing when he fought Oscar, the difference was that Oscar had been fighting at 147 during that time and didn't have to drain himself to make wight and he was more competitive in that fight. He hadn't fought at 147 in 8 fucking years before he fought Manny. He was severely dehydrated and had to be taken to the hospital after the fight. Here's an article talking about the weight issue Oscar had before, during and after the fight www.boxingnews24.com/2008/12/is-de-la-hoyas-diet-the-cause-of-his-loss-to-pacquiao/ any decent fighter would've beaten Oscar that night. As far as the rematch with Floyd is concerned, Floyd retired, he didn't run, there was nothing to run from. I just watched the Floyd/De La Hoya fight again a few weeks ago and only a hater would think Oscar won that fight or that it was even close. A rematch would've been the same story. Manny is not a better fighter than Floyd and won't beat him. He is tailor made for Floyd and instead of making up shit about Floyd ducking him explain why Manny has actually been the one to turn the fight down on more than one occasion Stop being a fucking hater and face reality man.

    • @hawkermustang
      @hawkermustang Před 9 lety

      ipowers2927 Floyd couldn't beat Oscar that night, that is why he ducked the rematch and Manny fought him. And Shane Mosley was on PEDS when he fought Oscar. And Mosley lost the 2nd fight while he was heating on the juice. The last Gayrunner fight I ever paid for was when he fought Oscar. That fight was horrible. Floyd fought like a lil bitch. None expected pac to to win that fight, infact if i remember correctly delahoya was like 3-1 favorite. Delahoya just destroyed mayorga and in my opinion beat mayweather a year prior and then dominated forbes. Pacman just 2 fights prior was fighting at super featherweight 130lbs, moved up to 135 to destroy diaz and the move up to basically 147 to demolish the great delahoya. Oscar didnt know what hit him even thought he should of taken this fight at a catchweight. He took pac lightly and paid the price

Maybe he knew he had no match at all but wanted that last fat payday since Floyd didn't wanna give him a rematch. If you're gonna lose, lose big. There is a manufactured idea Floyd was best of era, especially when Pac lost to jmm. But Pac is without question best of era. Beat all common opponents more convincingly being smaller than floyd. Titles in 8 divisions.
    Cotto will say he was drained but that s just mainly out of embarasment in losing to a former flyweight. Citto won't want people to think Pac beat the best Miguel.

    Anybody with a brain can see how high Oscar is in this interview. He looks on cloud 9 the whole time, can't keep still and says "Miron Ike Tyson" at one point. Teddy Atlas knows Oscar wasn't right in this interview, that's why he looked him in the eye and asked him a second time about it.
