As far as I know you are not permitted to put a tent up and have a fire unless your at a designated paid campsite The local sheriff as you calls him probably doesn’t know about it. Dale hollow is owned by the army corps of engineers wich means the lake and all lands around it is federal property. You can fish anywhere you like as long as you don’t have an open fire or bivvy up.it’s the same way in my home state PA . Just to give you a heads up mate...
I'm very aware of the rules. The local sheriff approached me in a designated, state camp ground that's why I was annoyed that the two old boys had decided to make their own boat ramp. The place where I ended up moving is beyond a "camp ground" sign. A fish and wildlife officer visited us last year and was fine where we were. Also all of the islands can be camped on and have fires. I do appreciate your info though.
