This is an exquisite song that could only be sung by Andrea Boccelli. It keeps reaching new heights, as his voice passionately soars.
In 1999, I traveled to Sicily, my second of 3 trips to Italy.It was breathtaking. I saw and touched the Mediterranean Sea for the first time and experienced the kindness and beauty of the people there.
As I wandered through an open air market, I found two cassettes, one “ Romanza”, the other “ Sogno” by this superb tenor. I had just split with my husband and sought refuge in the turquoise sea and the mountains. I had a cassette player and headphones as I traveled around the island on the bus. When “ Per Amore” came on, I couldn’t stop my tears. An elderly man sitting next to me, offered his handkerchief without asking any questions.
The passion of this melody touched my heart and all I could do was unleash the hurt and feelings I had held inside.
Once I had wiped my tears, I put the head phones on the gentleman and played back the song for him.
We talked and I shared my tea and food with him as we rode the bus from Palermo to Marinella di Selinunte. He was retired and was traveling to see his children.
We talked about opera and the greatest tenors in his opinion. He loved Boccelli and before I left the bus, he had invited me to visit him and his daughter in Castelvetrano. It was a beautiful highlight of my journey.

Breathtaking... My father R.I.P. went studying medicine in Italy when he was young and (alongside pizzas, pastas and many sauseges) brought this music home... This is so nostalgic for me, each and every family trip we used to listen to Bocelli and I had no clue what the words meant but I could just FEEL them through me... Considering the quality and emotion in this song I think it's really underrated... Beautiful...

Me acuerdo que esta canción la escuché cuando era pequeña ,en los 90, la pasaban en tv ,en vez de pasar tantas publicidades ponían videoclips originales de varios artistas y esta era de mis favoritas =) y más adelante escuché más temas y más porque mi madre es algo fan y tiene unos cds, dvd y aun ahora lo sigue escuchando bastante y vimos la bonita película La Música Del Silencio, juntas =)
