- Here is a tasty ribbon/naada/tape pakkoda recipe from our kitchen for Deepavali. The unique twist in this recipe is the use of coconut milk while mixing the dough. Enjoy this fried golden wonder. Recipe text in English below:

Ingredients:
· Rice flour/ Idiyappam flour - 3 cups
· Chickpea/besan flour - 1.5 cups
· Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
· Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
· Coconut milk - 1.5 cups
· Asafoetida - 1 tsp
· Salt
Method:
1. Mix rice and chickpea flours along with asafoetida, red chilly powder, salt, asafoetida powder to a coarse mixture.
2. Add coconut milk and make to a pliable dough.
3. Grease an extruder with oil and add the dough into the extruder.
4. Press extruder over hot oil and fry till pakkoda is golden brown.
5. Set aside to cool and pack in an airtight container.

Jalebi and jangiri are 2 different dishes.jalebi is a bit sour in taste sice the batter is fermented
Our jaangri is called gilebi in madurai side, though gilebi is the sour one and has a different look altogether.
