  • ♡ Hey Team, here are our 3 GAME CHANGERS which have been key for us as a 1 income family of 3, from the UK. We officially made the decision that I would not be returning to employment outside of our home in September 2023 and that effectively made us a 1 income family. Since then we have been learning, sometimes the hard way, how to make this work for us!
    This is a different topic for a HGDC video to my usual granny square mania though I have talked about my income as a self employed Crochet Designer before. Finances are a huge part of our life, even more so since we decided that I would be a full time stay at home mama and as we are putting so much time and effort into our finances I really appreciate having some one else to chat to about this. Let me know if you liked this video, and if you are a 1 income or wanna be a 1 income family.
    Thanks for watching. Happy making. See you in the next one ♡

      😂 had to leave that dance in. A little light hearted chuckle amongst all the upset is needed. Thank you for watching and commenting. I hope you enjoy the next vlog as that's on a similar topic 💖

    A great video and topic. I am always interested in how other people do basic things like their budget and finances. Great tips and so glad that you have come up with a plan. We are not a one income family, but I am still adament about saving and stretching our funds. A few things that I do to stretch things is to shop the grocery sales and stock up when things are on sale, buy secondhand, repair and reuse what we already have, cook from scratch, and I too am constantly evaluting our bills to see where we can find savings. Have a lovely day.

      Stocking up when you see a deal is a must! I try to only buy our most used products when they are on offer. And I'm constantly checking which supermarket has deals on Teddy's nappies etc. The further the pennies stretch the more yarn we can get right?! Joking. Kinda. Thank you for watching Rachel. I hope you like the next vlog, it's on a similar topic 💖

    Though a word of caution, I've heard a lot of people saying that they have randomly lost their vinted balance and haven't been able to get it back- just thought I'd mention in case there might be another way for you to keep it seperate but also safe from any possible vinted glitches

    I'm at a different stage, kids all in process of leaving so I'm pumping money into my pension. I was able to pay off mortgage when I was 43 and now I aim to retire at 57, just not willing to work myself into the grave. Right now there's amazing savings rates to take advantage off. Also if your man is a high rate tax payer, depending on his income if he is just over the threshold he can pay into avc's. My wage was about 1k into the higher rate so I took that 1k put in avc and it put me back to lower tax rate.

      Thank you for sharing! I would LOVE to be mortgage free by 43, woweee that is amazing. I suspect the tax and accounts available are different here in the UK but we have made some changes to make the most of pre tax income so far. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I hope you like my next vlog as it's on a similar topic, family finances plus some crochet! 💖

    It’s lovely to see you looking positive. Your ideas are just like the old fashioned tins that people used to have to tuck their money in each week when they had their wages paid in cash.

    • @HGDesignsCrochet
      @HGDesignsCrochet  Před 6 dny

      Hehe they are like the old fashion tins aren't they. That's what I would be doing if this was 50 years ago 😅💖

  • @PamelasCrochetKnitCorner1

    Many years and ago my husband and I made the same decision. I became a stay-at-home mom even though I was planning on going back to work. We had gone to look at daycare centers and it just didn't feel right. So we became a one income family and I stayed home for for 7 years. I joined Mommy and Me classes and met other parents with little ones. We did activities had outings and that was my socialization. It's not something we planned it just happened

      @HGDesignsCrochet  Před 6 dny

      Yep, it wasn't our plan but it's worked out this way. We do a few classes and they are great, I'm focusing on building friendships with other SAHM as well. At what point did you decide to go into employment again? If you have that is 💖

    Thank you for sharing your tips with us Heather. Although my situation is quite different, I am dealing with my own financial burdens right now and I am trying to find different ways to start organising it all. Especially as I want any side incomes to be seperate from my personal one. I was actually talking to someone this evening about banks that have saving pots and I am looking at either Lloyds or Monzo. I have also looked at my own flaws when it comes to spending that I need to work on too. It is a lot of work so I will be taking your tips to heart!

      I deffo vote Monzo as a way to keep things separate. You can have a personal Monzo and a business Monzo which is a bonus. We are about to set up a joint account in Monzo as well. Keep making these changes, they really pay off. Thank you for watching and always being here 💖
