    I love your balance of digital goody AND a larger “grand prize.” That makes a lot more sense to me than some of the things I’ve seen floating around! Simplicity is our friend. 😅🧡 Thank you for sharing!

    Thank you for this video. You answered so many questions. Even questions I didn't know I had! I think the fact that your release is my birthday and also the date I was considering. I think it's so amazing to meet you! New sub!

    I just want to thank you personally Bethany, for your help in the process of formatting a novel. My wife and I would always reference your videos when we would get stuck on something or forgot something *laughing *. My wife and I published "The Stomp" on March the 6th. We are very excited and will be publishing many more. I plan on teaching other's like you on the steps and process of making a book. Once again, thank you for your time and hope the Lord continues to bless you in many ways. My wife thanks you too and is now a subscriber of yours too. Peace.

    Thanks for another great video. I personally like pre-order campaigns where everyone gets something and one person gets a bigger, more exciting gift.
    I appreciate your talking about balancing the expense vs. benefit, and not just doing something because someone else is. I know an indie author who has done a very successful pre-order marketing campaign, but I'm not sure how much profit she will end up making considering all the components to her pre-order giveaways, but perhaps if there's sell-through for the second book, everything will balance out.

    No such thing as too much coffee or expresso.
    Thanks for the tips. This gives me something to think about. My current novel is way to niche/new for a publisher or an agent to take a chance on, so I really appreciate your insight!!!

      I’m not super impressed with Goodreads giveaways sadly, since they started charging a ridiculous amount a couple years ago. Back when it was free it was amazing though!

    Loved your video, but I have a question: if you have the time to answer it, of course. I want to begin promoting my first book, giving away a free chapter, so I can create my mailing list. But my book isn't on any platforms yet (It's intentional) and everywhere I want to promote the book, I am being asked where it's being sold, but it's not being sold. I just have my website and want to promote it for a good 8 months, before I even consider doing a pre-campaign, just to create awareness and create a buzz, so I can build my mailing list. Any ideas on how I should go about doing this? Thank you in advance for whatever information you can share.

    Awesome video. Thanks, Bethany, for sharing this valuable info with us while demonstrating how to get the word out about your preorder book. I'm going to pass your link to the book on to my wife. It looks like it might be right in her reading wheelhouse. Now, onward to creating my preorder for Rabble: Book 2 of the Cosmic Conspiracy series. (see how I slipped that in?) I'm thinking my free gift for all entries might even be Babble, book 1 of the series. What do you think of that idea?

    Are reviews of arcs up on the page for pre order? Looks to me that’s there are no reviews on pre order pages. Isn’t that an issue.?

      (1) they are expected to review on Amazon/vendors when the book is released, (2) they are asked/encouraged to review on Goodreads right away, (3) they are also asked/encouraged to review on their personal social media and share with friends.

    Is the "Everyone wins" how you can steer clear of the technicality of an "illegal lottery"? I'm hoping to set up a preorder on my debut soon and am looking into it, but the requirement to purchase puts it in that lottery category. Though... if everyone wins, then it means you're taking out chance and should theoretically make it legal?

    • @BethanyAtazadeh
      @BethanyAtazadeh  Před 3 lety +1

      I'm not sure what you're referring to honestly, but preorder campaigns/preorder incentives are extremely common in both trad pub and indie pub. I'm sure there's a lot more info out there on it than what I have here, but I just use the same strategies as big publishing houses. I added in the extra giveaway on top just because I personally wanted to make it more special. :)

    I'm currently putting together my preorder campaign. I have some physical ideas, but I'm definitely interested in digital incentives. I know you give half your book to those who preorder, do they get that immediately after they give proof of purchase? Also what are some other digital gifts you've done or seen other authors do?

    • @BethanyAtazadeh
