    If people don't want criticism they should just watch the Hasbro promo videos. Those are nothing but positivity and they'll not say one bad thing about their own product. There you go. But if you watch a reviewer who isn't on Hasbro's payroll... they're going to have an opinion! I'd much rather know about faults than about the good stuff... the good stuff I can get from any promotional material out there.

      If Anthony doesn't want our Criticisms he should stop reviewing a toy line he clearly dislikes. Make no mistake about it Anthony knows that if he stopped reviewing Marvel Legends his viewership would probably drop by 50%. Anyone who has been collecting Marvel Legends can see that these are the same molds as the ones they used prior. Why would you expect them to be different than what they are shown to be in the PROMOS?

    It's hilarious how Hasbro is jacking up all their prices substantially like people magically started making more money (and they're making the least they ever have.) And in return, we get less accessories and worse and worse QC. Jazwares came out of nowhere and started making Halo figures that look amazing compared to Hasbro, and even McFarlane looks great compared to them now, and their figures are mostly statues.
    Strongly considering canceling all my Spidey stuff.

      When I look at other lines, being a marvel legends guy, I'm always surprised at what other lines can do with a $20 price point which just shows you how low the bar is for Marvel Legends. Even figuarts manages to lower their price to $35 and still make amazing figures.

    • @Fuzzy_Barbarian
      @Fuzzy_Barbarian Před 2 lety +3

      I only recently started getting into S.H.Figuarts, and while they're not immune to QC problems, I feel like they just slid a bit under the radar, and the rest of the figure makes up for it.
      With Hasbro, most of their figures are nowhere near strong enough for me to overlook the QC issues, even at their low (but still not cheap, despite what some insist) price point. It's gotten to the point that the main thing I buy from them that isn't Transformers... is army builders. Because at least with those, the QC issues won't be as noticeable when I have like 6 Hydra troopers. It doesn't excuse it at all, but that's the main way I can enjoy Marvel Legends or Lightning Collection... by putting them next to much, much better figures.

      @@5150Figures without knowing how much of a legends figure's budget goes to the Marvel license, I don't think that's a fair comp. Figuarts doesn't have $35 marvel figures that I'm aware of.
      I absolutely agree that Legends have stopped being worth the price for probably 99% of the releases, but I don't think it's necessary to make potentially poor comparisons to validate that argument.

    • @5150Figures
      @5150Figures Před 2 lety +2

      True, but marvel legends, specifically the 20th anniv figures are creeping up on that $35 mark. And even the deluxe figures are pretty close. While figuarts has some $35 dragon ball figures. You don't need to have a figure of the same character from different lines to be able to compare them.

    Much respect to you, Anthony. You are one of the few (if not the only one) reviewers still uploading actual reviews instead of just praising any new release from Hasbro.
    I'd really like an X-Men line of figures without the cel shading and with headsculpts that actually look like the character designs from the cartoon.
    Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like Hasbro is a bigger company than NECA, no? Then they definitely should be doing a better job than them.
    I don't really see the point of this line. You can't even see the figures inside the boxes, NECA has their own VHS styled boxes but theirs have a window to see the figures.
    This line just feels so half-assed.

    Hasbro has gotten complacent with the Marvel Legends line. New pinless joints alone are not enough, they need a complete overhaul. • @PowerChordEPS
    @PowerChordEPS Před 2 lety +17

    Seeing as I have some of the core members of the 90s X-Men cartoon roster without cel shading, I'd prefer just reissues with better paint and no cel shading. It's pretty clear Hasbro hasn't nailed it like NECA has.
    As far as your critique, I love that there's at least one critic out there who has the balls to say what he thinks and remain objective. You've saved me from buying so many duds over the years, and yes there's times where I don't agree (I personally love the McFarlane Dark Knight Returns Batman after I modded him) but one driving force in my purchases, especially now with price hikes galore, is if you gave it a shining review or at least said it's worth the money. So many reviewers (Not naming names) have become shills who turn a blind eye to the negatives, if something stinks, speak up and hold the companies accountable, even/especially if you're buddy-buddy with the design team.
    Hasbro thinks they can put out minimum effort figures and think the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia will gloss over the flaws of these overpriced pieces. The packaging is dope, there's no question, but I don't want to spend almost $40 on a box with a halfassed figure. When your packaging is better than the actual product you're trying to sell, I'm sorry but that says a lot about where your priorities lie.
    I'm with you, I wanted these figures to be good, I was rooting for them to be decent replacements for overpriced reseller figures, but I just don't see the value here. Ditch the cel-shading, clearly it's not their strong suit, reissue the figures on retro cards or keep the VHS gimmick if they're gung ho on the windowless gimmick, I just want a decent 90s X-Men roster without any BS from Hasbro or spending entirely too much on trash.

    I love your reviews and channel. Your objectivity is necessary in this community and you’re absolutely right in your analysis. They’ve raised the prices but quality is the same. I’m thinking Hasbro thinks we’re more flexible to price increases than we actually are and I’m holding them accountable by not buying these and other figures that don’t deserve the price they’re sold at. McFarlane figures, with the issues they have, are still $20. And most of them are new sculpts, AND they’re 7” figures which means more plastic. Hasbro HAS to do better

    • @TheMattTrakker
      @TheMattTrakker Před 2 lety +1

      I would actually go as far as saying the quality is worse and that's not in relation to the price increasing. The QC is worse, paint seems to be applied less frequently and the accessories or quality of them is less on average than it was.
      Seeing how many of their newer releases Hasbro just put at 40% off, I'm hoping they're seeing people aren't as willing as they thought.

    This figure IMO is only tolerable at best.
    At least the water splotches are on the molded parts of the figure so I'd imagine if someone were to remove the "shading:, then it might not look too bad. They also seem to sculpt the jacket collar higher up, which is fine. The face also looks pretty good in general. With that said:
    *Didn't she wear a turtle neck in the animated series? The tunic shirt she has on is from the comics, but in the show, she had a turtle neck. So technically this can't be considered a definite version of the 90s Animated Jubilee.
    *Weird choice for the effect part. The same effect part for Scarlet Witch and Magneto won't work for a character that shoots sparkles from her hands. It doesn't work it looks off-putting.
    *Why does she have a verticle hinge? She doesn't use any weapons so what's the purpose of that joint? I guess if you want to pose her taking off her shades, sure but I doubt most people will pose her like that.
    *Wished we had another head with a different expression, not the same head with the same hair sculpt as the other Jubilee figure.
    I'm hoping MAFEX comes out with a better-looking Jubilee but I don't think that'll be anytime soon.

    I'd love a version of these figures without cell shading. Mostly because the cell shading on these figures isn't good. The colours don't work and, in Jubilee's case, the "shading" doesn't really make sense? Give me figures without it, and if I really wanted cell shading for whatever reason, I'll get someone to do it WELL. Or I can enjoy the figure as is in animation colours or whatever, if they're so deadset on keeping them cartoon-based.

    I love ppl who bash McFarlane at every turn, and yes... whilst there are QC issues with some McFarlane figures, at least we get uniquely sculpted figures and they're still $20 each.
    I feel like Hasbro is getting too confident with some of these figure releases. As it stands, I canceled my pre-orders for these cell shaded X-Men figures. For $27.99, I am not expecting Japan quality, but I do expect quality. Going forward it will be coming down to character uniqueness, like... has it been made before? For example, the 1970's Japanese TV Show Spider-Man figure that went up for pre-order. Or... they actually did something extra or cool to somewhat (emphasis on somewhat) justify the pricing. Like the upcoming Venom vs Knull 2pk. Yeah, they're using the movie Venom body for that release, but I do like that body (feet withstanding) and they're giving us new head sculpts and dragon wings... plus Knull, who appears to have been given effort head to toe.
    My thoughts on Hasbro QC would require 2 more paragraphs, so I'll leave it here.

    Even before seeing any review videos I said "pass" on this JUBILEE. I was lucky to get the CALIBAN BAF version and I'm sticking with her. These figures feed off people's nostalgia for the animated series and I respect that, but the $28 is mostly being paid towards the packaging and the impression that you're getting something really cool from HASBRO. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the GI JOE CLASSIFIED figures are a step above the Marvel Legends line IMO based off the QC.

    They really are conning the fans.
    Has to be noted that it isn't just Hasbro doing this either.
    Within one company, HASBRO, you have many different toy lines. Compare a relatively decent GI JOE figure to a MARVEL LEGENDS, and you'll see such a big difference in QC, in care, in what you get in the box....and both lines are from the same company.
    McFarlane has dropped the ball, too. Child like eccessories, which look as if they have been pillaged from a toy line for eight year olds, some odd joints, and various other issues that were not apparent 20 odd years ago when they were, for example, doing the Tortured Souls line, which overall were awesome, even with limited articulation.
    Even the Tech companies are giving their consumers less, and charging more, which shows a concerted decision to put less into the product, but having the cheek to raise prices.
    Are we seeing a pattern, yet?
    Just....SIGH!
    I'm quite happy to stick with my expectations, stay with my idea of what I expect to get for my money and wait till a figure actually impresses me (NECA for the win there, which should NOT be a surprise).
    If we stop letting ourselves being conned, and deprive them of OUR money, they'll have to step up their game and do decent figures, guys.
    They are extracting the urine.

    Thanks for the video AC - Please don't compromise your integrity by bowing to the sort that view products such as this worth their $$$. Your videos provide folks like me an irreplaceable service; where my $$$ goes. I cannot thank you enough. Recently received 2 "flame-on" Torchs. One ML, the other DST. The DST is 2 Torch's in one, as with an accessory the figure could be Johnny or the original. The DST comes with a flaming flight base. The DST comes with fireballs and throwing flames. The flame grill on the DST figure is engraved rather then cheaply scribbled with a sharpie. There is no comparison in the quality between both and should someone decide that the extra $5 for the DST is not worth it, I do not possess the abilities to convince you otherwise.
    Take AC's advice - he's not bashing Hasbro (we all love them, that's we we get so pissed at their indiscretions). But Hasbro needs to know that we are not compromising our $$$ for this crap. "Mustard-yellow" - yeah right! It looks like Jubilee just got out of a nightclub and someone puked on her coat. Drop mic.

    I wouldn’t be interested in them either way, but at least the cell shading (if done correctly) would give the fans something different, so count that as a “yes”. Blame it on the Pandemic, blame it on the economy, blame it on general malaise from the state of the world today, but Hasbro is going backwards. Look at the Love and Thunder figures compared to Ragnarok. If I had nothing other than the figures to go by, I’d bet the house that Love and Thunder came out in 2017 and Ragnarok came out in 2022. Hasbro built up a pool of goodwill from 2014 to 2019, but that pool is drying up faster than Lake Mead.
