It's not even that I didn't like the little i have watched, I just wasn't getting sucked right in. But if I know that a show is exceptionally good once you get into it, I don't mind a having to get through a less than stellar start of the first couple episodes.

This was difficult to watch for me because of some of the decisions made by the characters. The resolution was anticlimactic. It made me think, "This was how he was killed?", once again a series of choices that do not make sense. This series could have been resolved in the first episode.

I knew from the moment she stopped Boxer that she fucked up. Also do you remember how many times Boxer brings her actions and impulses Into question? Also she never even cared about her brother In the end and the cherry on the cake gets her father killed by not returning to Manchester just so she could relive a lost youth or teen adolescence. This show is absolute shit and Anna reveal was way too easy for me because she is a fucking nympho and she is cold towards Marcus😒

What made me watch the series was especially the drenched Mediterranean scenery mixed with a beautiful soundtrack and flashbacks to the Ibiza of the 90's. Although the main character was a bit annoying to me, the side-characters (Marcus, Boxer) were way more intriguing. I was curious to watch more about their background in the story. Loved it!

I really loved the flashback scenes, they were logical, they made sense and it stayed true to the all the characters. All the Zoë scenes however were very messy, she makes the weirdest decisions ever. It was very hard to watch scenes with her in it. The ending was not worth it at all, the whole time you want to know how Zoë will react on finding her brothers murderer, all we see is her walking into the ocean and screaming. I would give the flashbacks a 75 but the rest like a 30

Zoe is the worst human being in the history of tv shows, even worse than skylar from breaking bad.
The show was going really well until the writers decided to get her to disregard everyones feelings and "find herself" which in turn messes up so many peoples lives. They basically made the show to make shy introverted women think they can go out and meet an awesome spanish dude (boxers character is great).
    *SPOILERS*
    - Leaves husband and daughter to stay in spain, barely investigates what happened to her brother.
    - Steals marcus's cocaine which causes him to have his leg broke
    - Sleeps with spanish guy she met a week ago.
    - Moves chains on underwater bodies which causes them to float to the surface then tells everyone "they came loose".
Absolutely no accountability for her actions whatsoever, basically a 30 - 50 year old woman's crazy fantasy in a series.
I wish they would've just made a film about her brother Axel because that wouldve been so much better.

  • @theCHILLIntrovert

Wasn't difficult to watch but the acting was questionable and the drama cheap and tawdry. It didn't help that I didn't love or loathe any of the characters, either. It was just meh to me. It was constructed almost too purposefully for me. "We need a hit show. Quick, what's the fastest way to get people here?" "Murder, sex, drugs in abundance!"
I'm sorry I'm not a horny edgy teen anymore but nudity and psuedo philosophical droning no longer catches me like that. Again, wasn't bad. Just meh imo, worthy of a shoulder shrug.

i feel like this is one of those shows you have to binge-watch because you really need to get into the mood and familiarize yourself with all the characters to be able to follow along and not get turned away from all the excessive nudity, drugs, and the slow pace. overall I think it's definitely a good show but I think it definitely only attracts certain crowds and you'd need to be in the right mindset to watch it and enjoy it.

I've watched this twice. The first time I liked Boxer so much I looked on line for evidence of a second season. Generally speaking if i really like a show i have no problem watching it multiple times. The second time in i was much less impressed and have decided I will look for Nuno Lopez elsewhere than a second season. Zoe turns out to be totally cracked like her bro, relationships are so toxic theres no respite and though the acting was good I've had plenty enough of 40 year old angst.

  • @colaboytje
    @colaboytje Před 4 lety +4

It isn't that good. Strange decisions by some characters. Some cringy dialogue. The music is just intrusive and pointless at times (scenes with characters just singing in their car, while nothing happens), Zoe leaving all by herself to Ibiza leaving her husband and daughter behind to play detective, while husband doesn't mind.
I like nudity, but come on, some of it was so silly and pointless.
Some great performances on the other hand. Some interesting plots.
It all feels rushed, too slow, too long.

I'm surprised that more people don't mention the bit about Zoe hitchhiking to Ibiza with a random dude, and her husband is like "Sure! We've spent over a decade on your mental health but this makes sense!" It's like this show is about grown adults with the mental capacity of 9-year-olds, and it's torture to watch because of all the idiotic choices that are made. I think the best episode was when Marcus had his breakdown, and that made Axel's story more interesting.

In general I just felt like the show did not feel authentic, the first thing that annoyed me was that boxer help Zoe and Marcus like I didn't get that at all, all in all I think the show would be a hit if the series took place 5 years after axel's death, I feel like that would be so much more authentic, because I find it super weird that they are all of a sudden all so or still attached to Axel, I get it he was their friend, lover, brother but I felt like they were doing too much like when kika told Marcus that Anna cheated with axel why after twenty years just out of the blue?? I just really wish everyone was younger and they was taking place 5 years after axel's disappearance I would have bought the emotions and the attachment

I like this show wayyy more than money heist because the characters don't seem as annoying over time and the relationships between all of the friends and family's are so weird it's just fun to watch idk

  • @Carpathianrelinquished

It was a series that had no tangible plot, it was poorly written and acted and was all over the place. It regressed with needless frequency and the characters nauseated with their best hammy over acting. As Shakespeare would have said “Much ado about nothing”

I didn't like it. Too many stupid decisions are made. At no point in the serie are people hold accountable for what they did. Even when murder is involved. It is so unrealistic.

What I mean is it’s all about mixing up of Anglophone murder mystery with soapy Latin (here I mean counties like Spain, Italy and Portugal) which makes it so good. Sometimes you have to travel between boundaries and travel restrictions

Ach... so bad. They complicated the plot too much bc honestly is not that deep to have all those flashbacks. It was so repetitive. Many unanswered questions at the end. No memorable lines. The characters were unlikable and they showed complicated themes like motherhood, grieve, famili dynamics, etc in an immature way.

Yes it moves way too slow and only really picks up coming in to the final episode for me which is rather cruel for a 10 hour feat. 😩
It looked great visually but definitely not what I expected and was a bit underwhelmed and didn’t really care about Zoe or Axel. I was most interested in marcus’s storyline. I’d say it was an okay watch, wouldn’t be mad if it wasn’t renewed.

A show consisting of a bunch of cringe tainted characters most of which are stuck in the past and conveniently/coincidently all going through a midlife crisis. Not to mention every source of conflict in the show is either directly or indirectly tied and can be traced back to Axles death.. Very one dimensional but somewhat entertaining still.

Personally, for me writing is number one and for that reason I should have know better. Money heist was ridiculous and so poorly scripted as to be unwatchable. As far as White Lines, All the characters are deplorable except Boxer. Hard to enjoy a show when at best you don’t give a shit about the characters, and more likely you want to see most of the characters get a bullet in the head.

I watched up to the 6th episode, feeling really booooooooored and was sure that I were going to thumb down it. It felt pretentious and sounded like dumb philosophizing up to that points and all the decisions made seem dumb to me. The main character feels more like a figurine, the one I couldn't relate that much with. We don't know too much about her, can't even remember her name now. Or Alex at the beginning and that's horrible for attracting viewers. He just sounded like annoying idiot who was presented as mysterious but just wasn't, I was like "What are you even trying to do there just standing??" Up to more than half of the episodes, damnit, felt like stupid dumb gimmick quotey scenes. However towards the end, I understood where the story was trying to go. You're very right, all the background stories are very good. And Alex ended up being a very interesting character. We know that charismatic guys who would just thrust beyond the limits and love extreme sensations. As much as I can't relate to the main character, I think even the psychology of her character has been considered thoughtfully, just like most the others, except Axel's girlfriend.
I ended up thumbing it up.
*Oh yeah, and the flash back scenes. Some times the same exact scene is being repeated twice in a row. I was wondering if that's editing issues or they just really like flash backs. Well, not cool, mate.

The show is called White Lines, but it's not because of the drugs. Zoe's therapist said that Zoe wants white lines marking out her life, like a barrier that symbolizes stability. Then she says that she thinks Zoe's going to break those white lines and even cross red lines. Zoe's issue was that she hadn't drawn those white lines herself. She had other people doing it for her all along. First her father and brother, then her therapist, and then her husband. She had to break those white lines, like her therapist said, to make new ones. Her own white lines. Her own sense of safety, stability and peace. She needed to give herself the closure she was looking for. And that's what happened in the end. The red lines she crossed on the way were collateral damage.
Now I think that the ultimate question that this series poses is; how far should one go to get closure? Maybe "closure" is overrated? She got it in the end, but she destroyed her whole life just to find out that closure is something you give yourself. Boxer told Zoe that he's someone who always says yes, and that Zoe always says no. After their relationship ended he finally learned when to say no, and she finally learned when to say yes. He quit his job, and she scattered the ashes of her family and moved on with her life, reborn.
I think this was a well written show, apart from all the vulgarity. And I think it tells the tale of many tortured souls out there who are desperately looking for answers that they may never get. Axel tried to fill the void in his life with drugs, sex, parties, friends, love, fame, success, money, "good times"... None of it was ever enough. When he finally realized that and wanted to start over it was too late. His father realized that he probably could have prevented all the shit that happened to his family if he had just pulled himself together and helped his son all those years ago. At least he realized that in time to save his daughter. That's why she let Anna go and finally moved on. Every character in this series was a cautionary tale, and after watching the whole show over again I must say I'm glad it didn't get a second season. I think it ended perfectly.
