  • Today I am going to show you my work on standard weathering procedures on IDF Merkava 2D from Takom 2133 in 1/35 scale. It's not a black magic or something difficult but better check out my video to make your own way easier and faster. You will see wash, chip and scratches, rust, polishing, dusting, stains, extra effects, details and stowage and final touches. All of these to make the model look very realistic and interesting. Enjoy!

Excellent work you continue to delivery a very high standard of finish, well done. Have you considered using a calligraphy pen knib for application of pin washes, it allows a much more accurate application of the washes? Just dip the pen knib in the wash and away you go, much more accurate than using a paint brush.

@@DazP2835 for chipping I used 3/0 or 5/0 paintbrush from AK or some local Polish brand Kozlowski. And about the pencil I really like 4B becasue it is really soft. But I also used mechanical hard pencil to make some really small scratches.

I feel that the debate in modeling circles around how realistic a model should be, versus how artistic it should be, will never be settled. I have a 1/35 T-34/85 I built in 1989, and it is boring and flat. I whole-heartedly believe that today’s techniques of colour modulation, chipping, oil-dot filters, etc. make for a far more appealing and interesting result.
