    To make the dissembly of the Buckmark much easier install a Striplin Custom Gunworks "Eliminator" recoil spring guide rod. Easy installation. Straighten a paper clip, insert in the small hole on the Eliminator guide rod to compress the spring. The entire slide slides off in one unit. Even the plastic bumper stays with the slide. Once you try the Eliminator rod you won't go back to OEM.

      @@mickmacstabletopreviews8466 I will do that. I was recently able to try it out and I can say it shoots wonderfully. No optics are needed up to 200yards I’ve noticed. It’s honestly more accurate then my Ruger 10-22 currently. It should have come with more then one Magazine, being that they are now $45 each + tax and shipping. The last two in my future will be the S&W 41 and Colt Woodsman. Probably a very distant future. Maby I should trade in my HK USP,s because I honestly don’t like shooting them any more. The TX .22 is also one I’m very interested in.

    Yes, they are very accurate. However, the video states 6'' groups at 25 yards. These guns routinely shoot groups under 2'' at 25 yards and with a red dot or scope with loads they prefer, often under 1'' groups at 25 yards. I just bought my 2nd Buckmark. Its a 4'' barrel Buckmark Field Target with the full length rail on top and I really wasn't at all impressed at all with the trigger. My 1st Buckmark had a very nice 3lb trigger, while this new 1 came with a 5 3/4 - 6lb trigger. It was inconsistent in weight and had a good amount of grit in it. I pulled the sear spring and replaced it with a TandemKross Gearbox sear spring. This reduced the trigger pull to 4lbs. After applying some Teflon grease to the sear, hammer, trigger bar and boss and dry firing with snap caps a couple hundred times I removed the grease and the trigger is now stable and grit free at 3lbs. Once I install the TandemKross trigger (next week) it should be down to around 2 1/2lbs which for this type of pistol is acceptable to me.

    I would have to disagree about newer designs being better, for .22 at least. And for context, I am a bit younger and own quite a few polymer framed duty pistols, so I'm really not biased. Most newer pistols chambered in .22 copy the design ethos of larger caliber duty pistols. While this undoubtedly makes them more compact, reliable, and rugged, I feel as though those aren't necessarily qualities that are needed in something chambered in .22 lr. Ballistically speaking, .22 was designed for target shooting and varmint/small game. The heavier and longer build of the Buckmark, as well as the rifle like action are what make the Buckmark so accurate and great for that. I honestly hope they never discontinue things like the Buckmark, or the Ruger 22 45.

      I'm older obviously, but I've begun to acquire polymer gun only in the past ten years or so. However, when I think about guns that I'd never sell, they are almost always all metal construction. What I would consider family heirloom pieces ---they are all steel. Just the way it is. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comments. Don't forget to like, share and subscribe. • @mickmacstabletopreviews8466
      @mickmacstabletopreviews8466  Před 2 lety

      Depends. If I don't have any plans to take it out again anytime soon, I'll go ahead and do a thorough cleaning. That's just me. I have a thing about storing my guns dirty, so I'm probably guilty of being a bit obsessive. Now I'll tell you that I buy a lot of used guns and they are almost always poorly cleaned, yet seem just fine once they are cleaned up. The problem with 22s is of course, how dirty the gun gets. Eventually, function will be affected. But, in my opinion, as long as the gun is oiled you can go for some time without a thorough breakdown cleaning of a Buck Mark.

    You got me interested in installing the Browning OEM Hunter SE rail on my Buckmark. My Buckmark started as a Camper model. Changed to a Bullseye 7¼” barrel.
    I received the Hunter rail but the original rear sights were too narrow. Found a wider Target rear sight that was recommended. The screws used on the original plastic base rear sights do not fit on the Hunter rail. The countersunk Allen head screws are too wide on top. They cannot fit the the bottom of the Hunter rail. What size screw should I use. Should there be two different lengths? A long screw for the rear, and, a shorter screw for the front? Allen head or flat tip? Or, possibly a Phillips head?

    • @mickmacstabletopreviews8466
      @mickmacstabletopreviews8466  Před 3 lety +1

      Interesting challenge. When I look at my 10 year old Buck Mark Hunter, the two Allen screws look the same, but I don't know enough about your situation. Regardless, I have a really small, but good ACE Hardware store in my area. They are my go-to store for fasteners. If you've got a similar hardware store with a good fastener selection you could probably find what you need to replace the screws with black or stainless steel Allen-head screws with the proper thread length and width heads. If you take the parts and screws in to them (not the gun itself) and tell them what you need, they should be able to give you a few different ones to try. These screws are really cheap, so just get an assortment with the proper threads and experiment. That's what I usually do. Thanks for watching and thanks for the question. Hope this helps. It's been an learning experience upgrading my Buckmark. Now if I can get as fast as some of the Steel Challenge shooters that complete in the local gun club. Some are less than seven seconds per stage. That's five steel plates in less than seven seconds. I've heard most people that go to the Steel Challenge Nationals are even faster.

      Thanks for watching and taking time to ask a question. As for CCI Stingers, I don't see why not. The general view of the Buck Mark is that it's accurate and very well made. However, most 22 ammo is notoriously dirty and susceptible to failure. That's why you'll often hear the qualifier that the gun be cleaned and properly oiled. Bulk ammo is usually worse. However CCI is considered by many to be at the top of the heap when it comes to higher quality ammo. CCI Mini Mags have received some of the highest praise by Buck Mark owners. Finally, hotter 22 loads like Stingers and Mini Mags seem to work better although some gun manufacturers ( like Phoenix) warn against them.
