    This afternoon I bought the Apollo Multi-Head Crimp Kit shown in the video. My main reason for choosing this kit over it's competitors was because I could quickly change the crimp dies thanks to the spring-loaded locking clamps (shown at 0:43) as opposed to using the wrench/bolts that the other tools used. However when I got home and opened the package I find that this crimp tool uses the exact same bolt-down dies that the others do. Contrary to what the video implies, looking back over this video I realize that while it gives very detailed information on how to use the spring-loaded change feature, the only other place in the video you see the spring releases are during the adjustment instructions at 1:57. Every other shot in the video shows tools using screws to lock the dies in place.
    I'm sure this was not done to intentionally mislead, but it IS misleading, and speaking as a new customer who was really excited to get home and use a new tool, not especially confidence-inspiring.

      It's always a good idea to look at tools in the store before buying them. :) They make more than one model of multi head crimp tool.

    Something here doesn't make sense. When you leave the Bar between the jaws and close the tool, the gap there is always the same as diameter of the Bar. Anybody can help and explain, thanks.

    seems to me like they should probably take these off the market. Ive seen soooooooo many reviews saying how these things ruin your property and they always end up leaking or corroding or just breaking all together. after everything ive heard the only way i would use these is for temporary use until i can do better.

    • @lv7603
      @lv7603 Před rokem +2

      @@superwhuffo1 there’s PEX A and Pex B and tools depend on the type of PEX. However I been installing PEX for several years and regardless of method it mostly comes down to the user mistake mostly the pipe not being cut square and the clamp being crimped too far.
      Inside and underground pex it all holds up.

    Looks like a lot of trouble working with different size piping and when these types of tools malfunction ...Better to have 2 or 3 tools set to size. Anyone heard of rats chewing through the PEX pipe. Asked around, workmate had a friend that came back from vacation to live in a motel while his house was dehumidified and remodeled.

    • @apolloretailonline
      @apolloretailonline  Před rokem

      You do not have to change the settings on the tool. It is precalibrated when it is manufactured. Adjust the settings only if the crimped ring does not fit the go/no-go gauge.

      The crimped ring only has to touch the go/no-go point on the gauge at one location. Please view our calibration video for more information - czcams.com/video/iLHl6BZwVF0/video.html

      If your tool has screws that hold the heads on the tool instead of the spring clips, just loosen the screws, remove the heads, place the size heads you want to use, and tighten the screws. If you need further help with your tool, please call customer service at 1-888-229-2874.

    I noticed it damaged the ring a little bit. Also, the ring removing tool nicked the fitting .

  • @carooterandplumbing5644

    How much pressure do you put into the rings or how many pounds of pressure?

    • @apolloretailonline
      @apolloretailonline  Před 7 lety

      The rings can handle the same pressure as Apollo PEX pipe - 160 psi @ 73º F, 100 psi @ 180º F.

      We offer a PEX Ring Removal Tool that will remove crimp rings after they've been fastened onto pipe. The part # is 69PTKD0009. You can find it at many retail hardware stores. If they don't have it in their store, they can probably order it for you.
