      Hey Cas. Loving your videos and am really looking forward to the Get Organized series. When I click on the link it gives me a privacy warning. Is anyone else having this issue or is it because I'm in Australia. I tried it from Dawn's site as well, with the same result. Any suggestions would be helpful. Keep up the fun videos. You're even funnier on 2x speed. :)

    May I suggest that you have a display box made for Miss Polly? You can put her on the wall somewhere, and she will have a home. She's memorabilia. Have a certificate made for her telling of her honored retirement, faithful daycare service, and so on.

    We tend to fix up our homes to sell yet we've lived in them for years as they are. We should do our upgrades as though we're selling & enjoy it. My friend & her husband have done many upgrades to sell then always change their mind. I think it's bc they get to reap those rewards.

    I have had the same eureka moment looking for a new house online. We live in a house we built almost 40 years ago, and although I would like to move closer to my daughter to be able to help her more with babysitting and such, when I look at some of the houses, I realize they are not realistic for my season of life. Some are too elegant for my very casual lifestyle. Some would just make my workload bigger. You are wise to have discovered this at your young age. You will find the perfect place if you are patient. Thanks for your bright cheeriness this morning!

    I agree with you Cass. A larger home with a larger lot means = more to clean, more to weed, more to mow, more to heat and more to cool. $$$$$$ It's probably why people who live like that have maids and gardeners. I ain't got that kind of money to waste. xD

    I like this new quick tip series. The love your home series sounds interesting too. I like your office. Do you have a video on how you set it up? Definitely go with as small a house as you can stand. Big houses take too much time to clean plus consider the cost of replacing the roof, etc, on a larger house. I thought that puppet was creepy until she sneezed. That was funny!

    0:12 Hi Cassandra, My name is Merrawyn - living and working on the Gold Coast and I will be 74 in late June😱😱😱. Where has my life gone!!! I need to do things smarter and easier now that I am in the “over the hill” mob. Feeling terrified to be honest. I have completed your 30 day boot camp and getting closer to liking my spaces around the place. Amazon , Silly Sollys (similar to Dollar Tree), TKMax & Bunnings (similar to Home Depot) have been my go-to for getting things organised. I need to do things smarter & easier to manage house keeping and cleaning. I so love some of the gadgets being used on the CZcams vlogs & I daily watch folk like Clutterbug, Minimal Mum Dawn & her sister Diana & Ashley from Til Vacuum Do Us Part to name just a tiny few. Thank you for your inspiration and encouragement & also teaching us how to let go of things that clutter our lives. Love and blessings Ⓜ️❤️🤗 Merrawyn

    I feel this about the big house thing. We bought one 3 years ago that marked all the boxes - 5 bedroom + office & exercise room. 1/2 acre with pool. No HOA… it definitely is a mixed blessing. Glad to have the space, but so much to do. And we live in the desert so there is less to do here than in more humid environments. Basically we are slowly getting rid of stuff and enjoying the wide open space which is also awesome.

    Hey, great tips, I literally could not agree more with you on all 3 systems. It's sanity saving and so simple yet life altering and not something my mother taught me but something I learned from you! And something else......I live on just under 1 acre of Land in an almost 4000 sqft house....I am a stay at home mom to my 3 kids, we have a dog and 2 bunnies and my elderly mother also lives here.....you made the smartest decision in the world to consider "the work" of caring for a large space. I just know that when i move...after living in a massive and old house in the woods...my main priority will be figuring what will maintenence will be involved and how many plumbing/electrical/structural/flooding/draftiness/hvac issues are going to be a part of my daily life on top of people places things dishes and laundry! Too much for one woman only because I just don't even wanna deal with it all!!!

    I loved the house searching story. It's good to know what we are really capable of and willing to do. You are a busy lady, you need a home that takes care of itself. I used to dream of a huge house (the house i grew up in was tiny). I said to mum 'when i grow up, i want a house with 20 rooms!' She said, 'and a mess in every one of them!' Fast forward, my home has 10 rooms and is mostly tidy. What she said stayed with me. I have been decluttering now for years, and the less stuff the less mess.

    I like the idea of 'fall in love with your house'. I find it odd that as a society we seem bent on constantly looking for the 'new house' instead of buying just one house, paying it off, and loving it until you need to go into long term care. People have often said to me, ''don't you want a bigger house for the kids?'' my response is always the same, kids are only with us for 20 years, what do we do with the other 45+ years? So we stay put and share 1 bathroom lol.

    • @TTaddicted
      @TTaddicted Před 2 lety +4

      We have one bathroom too!! Four kids. I totally am with you on this!! I feel like very few people have this line of thinking and I personally feel it's a better way to live. A bigger house will make you happy for a short time, then you are just left wanting more. So might as well be content where you are.

      Looking for the new, bigger home is a rich person’s problem. Many can’t even afford their first home. I agree, be happy where you are. We lived next door to the University where my husband worked for over 20 years. It was always my dream to move out of the neighbourhood when my husband retired. In this house the rooms are a little larger but it’s an average 4 bedroom house yet we are within 5 minute walk of homes valued way $1,000,000. Nice to look at, walk past, imagine cleaning and managing them. And go home to a simpler life. I am still decluttering on a regular basis, like peeling an onion, layer by layer as I determine what we can live without.

    I am soo HAPPY for you and your family that you feel able to look for a new home! If I may put in my 2 cents, don't feel committed to finishing all your projects to making the home perfect for selling. As long as the house is in decent shape, and no structural defects, chances are you will find a buyer soon enough. Don't invest too much into fixing superficial stuff up, your buyers will likely change it up for their own anyways. We are a military family and have to sell/buy every 2 to 3 years 😱. I have learned not to invest too much on the selling end, you will want to save that cash for personalizing your new home. ❤️❤️ Good luck!!

We just started doing those little things to prepare the house for sale and I've been looking at everything we own thinking "Do I want to pack this, pay for it to be moved, unpack it and find a spot for it?" Plenty of stuff being donated and lots of little projects getting done! :) I agree with another comment here. Miss Polly needs a place on display where you see her and smile. I saw your smile when you got her out, so why banish her into a cabinet of things that have no home? She deserves a home. :)

  • @mysticfox1563
    @mysticfox1563 Před 3 lety +3

    Here’s my take on you moving. First, I want you to have what you want. That said as CZcamsrs become more and more successful they also become less and less relatable. Capsule wardrobe content comes to mind. So many of them don’t have jobs outside of CZcams. No kidding you can have 5 things in your closet if you don’t go out to work where there is a dress code. If you end up in a much larger space I’d just like to see you continue making content that is for people in 700-1500 sq foot homes. I know you’ve done videos in other people’s houses before so if/when covid relaxes that would be ideal.

    Much of what you have in your kitchen and office command centers belongs in Evernote. I follow Einstein's advice to not clutter your brain with what you can look up. My

  • @carakellmeyer5037
    @carakellmeyer5037 Před 3 lety +1

    While I have watched most of my friend group move from the neighborhood, their home-selling fix-ups had me inspired to do my own fix-ups. I spent all last year fixing big, fixing small, and painting. We have done a lot of living in 10 years with 5 children in this house. Yes, I want a bigger house with a yard. But I am trying to teach myself and my children to want what you have. Sometimes better organization, a new floor and painted walls can go a long way in happier space living. One of my favorite projects was painting my storage room/ laundry room floor. Besides brightening the basement space, it is cleaner underfoot. So when laundry soap spills, I can actually clean it up instead of scrubbing unfinished concrete.
    About inter-locking brick pavers.... That is what vinegar is for...spray on vinegar to keep it weed free. You dont have to hand weed. There are short cuts to weeding. Although I appreciate someone actually realizing the work necessary for a beautiful property, I dislike your passing on something because of flower beds and brick pavers upkeep.
    There. That's all I want to say. If I type any more, I will need my own blog post.

    So this will probably sound creepy, but I LOVE your house. Like I didn’t mind your videos when you were in NJ, but I was super excited when you got home because your house is SUPER pretty to me!! I can’t imagine what work needs to be done on it because it looks ready to sell right away! ☺️

    I need you! I’ve decluttered some but oh boy, I need to beautify my home. I found my favorite childhood doll on eBay, yes I bought her. I can sooo see you teaching little ones. You’re amazing!

  • @AHumbleHomemakersJourney

    I agree with the suggestion of displaying miss poly....it means alot to me that you used it to teach children and I can tell you loved it

    I'd love to move too - I wound down my childminding business with the longer term plan of moving house in mind, did a big declutter, had it valued, and then couldn't fine anything we liked enough to leap. It also feels like the list of jobs we need to finish will never end - but I keep telling myself "good things come to those who wait". Having spare money and not excessive amounts of house is a great idea.

  • @cheryl-lynnmehring8606

    Command Center & Landing Zone-love this idea!!! We all need these spaces but don't always designate a home for things within the home! 💘
    P.S. I just found you, great videos! I saw your comment on Holderness Family videos.

    Oh Cas! Story of my life! Why have I been waiting to finish painting or putting trim back up after insulating windows? I know why! My husband is horrible at painting but even more horrible at waiting for someone else to do it so he goes in a slops it all over everything. If I paint I do it right. I might not be the fastest, but the taping is on point and there's nothing on the ceiling, floor, or furniture. I've found if I don't start he won't either in both respects. But now, all the kids are in school full time except for Fridays so I'm slowly knocking out my to-do list.

    Great ideas. I would give Miss Poly a home and display her and id story card so you can see her and she gets to share her story you light up when you snuggled her. You said you ran a daycare before maybe your can teach kids at some point about organizing and decluttering with her like have kids or teen series.

    LOVE your videos.....Miss Pauly was cute!😀

    Fun fact: In Germany, you usually buy ONE house in your life and it's the one you're having forever. This whole "first house thing" sounds kind of strange to German ears, because you are going to pay your entire life for the house you've got, so you need to know pretty safely, that this is "your forever house". Maybe that helps you to love the things about your actual house more you used to fall in love with at the time you bought it. Just keep improving the corners you don't like that much and as you mentioned: Will you be willing to take care of an even bigger house, especially by the time the kids are moving out? --- Thank you for all the information and motivation you are spreading!

    My husband and I were thinking of moving too but we have decided to love the home we’re in now. There isn’t as much space as we want, especially since we have a toddler but I also wonder how much more time the maintenance for a bigger house would require. Thanks for sharing your story

    Loved this, thanks! I will be moving my family from a tiny, very outgrown, cluttered apartment, where nothing has a home because we have no storage space...to a beautiful 2 story home! I'm so ready for this fresh start! I've already decluttered a ton and can't wait for everything that's left, to have a specific place, in our new house. My kids share a room here, they will each have their own room in the house. I currently run my small business from the dining room and in the house I will have a little office space. I'm very excited for this new chapter!!!! Bring on aaalll of the home content!🙌🏻💞🏡

    Cant wait for the new series! I would love to see a classroom organization video if you have access to a local teacher. When I put my room together last, I remembered your advise about teenagers being butterflies. It's a struggle because I'm the total opposite but I get fewer questions about where stuff is.

      If in doubt, labelled bins 😂 No excuses from anyone coz they can see where everything belongs and put it away after use. Classroom storage varies by age/activities - cube shelves with big word&picture labels are good for early years (toy/play-based), or drawers for older kids' worksheets with their names on :)

    Thank you Cas, today I was so overwhelmed with stuff. I'm slowly picking away at it. I'm a Bee and very sentimental, it's so hard to get rid of stuff. I finally feel hope to get rid of stuff though. I'm also studying out greed from a book called Enemies of the Heart, which helps me to release some of these items.

    You were thinking wise thought regarding owning multiple acres of land!!! We inherited the slightly less than 50 acre family farm my Dear Husband grew up on just over 3 years ago. Owning more than a half acre suburban yard is easily a full-time occupation, and any more than a few acres can often be as demanding as a baby with colic screaming for immediate attention, occasionally 24/7 for periods of time. Owning multiple acres of the good earth is indead a blessing and a labor of love, but a lot of labor none the less. BTW: "Leasurely Country Living" is a faux concept created by real estate agents!!!
    I love that You still have Miss Polly!!! 💗 I still have Hoofy, an odd looking stuffed horse that sits upright on his little tailess Hoofie butt. Hoofy has almost no hair left, one if his felt ears is mostly MIA, his button eyes have been sewn back on a few times, and his head partially sew back on once. I got Hoofie for my birthday/Easter when I was three years old, and I am 62 now, so Hoofy has earned his battle scars. Hoofy has been loved on a LOT, and even fell out of a car window at 50 MPH on a mountain road in Venezuela, ... but that's another story. I will never give up my Hoofy❣ Tell Polly Hoofy said "Hi". 😂

Just letting you know that I’m a 75 yr old widow. We never outgrow the need of keeping it all together no matter how old we are and especially if we live alone. Thank you for the common sense of it all. Your audience really is broad and not just for young families. 🥰
