Definitely my favorite pianist of all time. One thing that I love from Zimerman that separates him from the rest of the other pianists is his golden tempo. His notes are strong and his rubatos are expressive. The nuances are just perfect and so is his pedal work. I feel that he has a very deep understanding of the fundamentals of the pieces he plays, which is why he is able to bring out the maximum value of every aspect from his playing.
As always Krystian -- so beautiful. One of Chopin's masterpies. I receive it as philosophical, Chopin's and all of our journey through life -- on a gondola, if you will, It is a beautiful passage thought moods of darkness, light and transcendence bursting forth in wild cosmic joy and then evaporating into eternity leaving behind only the pure essence of being. Of course this is may not be what Chopin intended but he was after all, the "poet of the piano."
So so beautifully played- I can’t get enough of it- I saw him perform live in LA and he played Scherzo in B flat as an encore- it is one of my most precious memories
Remembering him then reminds me now why he was always one of my favorites. What exquisite playing of nuance, texture, dynamics and fluidity. Amazing always.
I listen to Chopin’s Ballades 1, 2, 3, and 4 on a daily basis. However, when I listen to his Barcarolle, I always feel that it’s somewhat lacking in the coda. While I acknowledge its beauty, melancholy, and poignancy, the coda seems to miss a dramatic climax that I often expect
