I tested five 10' XLR cables I have in myself studio and use interchangeably, to see if there was any reason to avoid using the cheap ones...
I present this test for you to judge for yourself..

I'm surprised that one didn't null. Not surprised that it was barely noticeable, though. I'm trying to think what that means in practical terms and I'm coming up with nothing...

Yeah. It’s weird but what I’m learning to love about testing and really digging into using multiple things to do the same job. I’m getting a very useful understanding of scale and scope of differences… and an understanding of which diffferences truly matter or let’s say “have a practical effect” and which are simply, there but irrelevant.
Now that I know that cable does (or errr, doesn’t do that), I’m going to investigate further and try to figure it out… but also, see if it causes any differences in other stuff…
Really it could only matter in an instance when it was being used to pass half of a stereo recording? Otherwise polarity on its own isn’t really anything relevant.
It doesn’t “sound” like it’s missing (or possessing) any info the other cables don’t have.
      Ah yes, a mystery!
Thanks for watching! Thanks for joining in the fun of being confused by it!
