  • We did 2 day trips from Izmir, Turkey to both Ephesus and Pamukkale. We show what its like to visit Ephesus in 2021, and why you maybe should not visit Pamukkale, Turkey.
If you do visit Pamukkale, make sure to go very early in the morning to actually be able to enjoy it! Overtourism has led to these natural pools being overrun with tourists every day of the week, sun up to sun down.
We're Colton and Nikki, husband and wife, who didn't want to settle into the "default lifestyle" and decided to go on a great adventure. After saving for a year and a half, quitting our jobs, selling all of our stuff, and buying a one-way ticket, we're traveling the world to go beyond the norm. We'll explore amazing places, eat a TON of yummy food, and share it all in weekly videos. Follow along with us!

Turkey is such an amazing country, I'd love to go back someday. Sadly, I have never been to Pamukkale and it's been on my bucket list forever.

I'm not sure why your headline says NOT to visit Pamukkale. Because it's crowded? The only place I've seen an at all similar geological formation is at Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone (maybe there are other. I just don't know of them). Pamukkale is a must see but you don't need to spend a lot of time there.

Hi! I'm going to Turkey and debating between Pamukkale and Ephesus. I'd ideally like to do both but I think it's just going to be two much to jam into a day and a half (unless you think otherwise). I'm guessing from your video, you would recommend Ephesus over Pamukkale? I love shooting landscape photography so Pamukkale is calling me, but your video is making me double think that.

Both are great, our experience at Pamukkale was just different than expected so that's why we feel how we do about it. But, if you get there early enough in the morning before the crowds, I'm sure you can get some really amazing photos! Ephesus is much more of a history and cultural experience. It's up to you what you want to get out of your trip! Enjoy your time in Turkey, it's one of our favorite places!

@@nikkionherway I decided to go with Ephesus. Maybe if I ever come back, I can do Pamukkale. Ephesus looked like it offered more from both your vlog and some others I watched. Thanks for responding!

While visiting Pamukkale, you said you don't think you will come again, is it because you don't like it? or for other reasons?

We were sad that such a beautiful natural wonder was so overrun with tourists. We wouldn’t go again because we feel it is hard to enjoy it with so many people there. I’m sure it’s wonderful if you get there early enough in the morning, and it was still beautiful!

@@nikkionherway Now it's clarified. I agree with you, crowds and some people walking around in shoes damage those beautiful stones.
