Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio won the Oscar, while Disney's Pinocchio won Razzie. Swallow That Mickey! 🤣🤣🤣
Wallace and Gromit Aren't Alone Anymore, Finally After 17 Years Another Stop-Motion Animation Wins the Category. 🏆👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Dwayne Johnson and Guillermo Del Toro really gave animation the respect it deserves. And as much as I wanted
As much I liked Turning Red or Puss in Boots to win; I must say bravo to Guillermo Del Toro. His version of Pinocchio not only proves that we can be loved and accepted for who we are inside, but also a reminder that Animation is something for everyone; because it is CINEMA. I think it was a well deserved choice. Congrats to Del Toro and Netflix for proving the worth of Animation. Bravo!
Wow, I almost had a heart attack when Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt took the stage to present the Oscar for Best Animation, after all they made that Disney movie called Jungle Cruise, so I already thought Turning Red was going to win. 😱
Without animation, no cinema :)
Here’s hoping the Academy recognizes animation as the art form it rightfully is, rather than just kiddy stuff because it’s so much more. It is as Mr. Del Toro said, cinema.
At long last another stop motion animated film wins the Oscars.
Take that, Disney
Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio teaches that someone should not have to live up to impossible parental expectations or be like anyone else to be worthy of love. This stop-motion animated musical is firm in its themes of self-love and loving someone for who they are without boundaries or expectations of who they should be.
“Animation is cinema. Animation is not a genre.”
Guillermo Del Toro is the only Film maker who have won Oscar for Best Picture, Best Director and for Best animated feature.

They may complain that Puss in Boots did not win, but come on people, This Oscar mainly deserved it for Pinocchio by Guillermo Del Toro, and not only because it is Guillermo Del Toro or from Netflix, but because Del Toro gave him this movie with a lot of dedication and heart with the help of stop motion, and that had to wait a long time for it to finally be worth all that this Oscar deserved.
RIP Mark Gustafson (September 19, 1959 - February 1, 2024), aged 64
GDT's Pinocchio is a beautiful film that explores difficult subjects like death in such a warm and profound way. It was impossible for another film to take the award.
R.I.P Mark Gustafson he co directed a spectacular film.
Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio is a story about family at its core, and does a perfect job from start to finish of showing how important familial love is, no matter what sort of shape those loved ones may take.
Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio definitely deserved the win and I never get tired of Del Toro's speeches. I just wish that the film got more nominations outside of Animated Feature. I would have nominated the movie for Desplat's incredible score, the incredible production design, the incredible screenplay, and I would have given the movie a Best Picture nomination. I hope we have another animated film nominated in Best Picture again and I even want to see one win. One day, I hope the Oscars recognize that animation is cinema. It's not a kids genre, it's a medium for all ages and all forms of art.
One of the best winners of this category in recent memory, and it wasn't a Disney movie!
