Even God's chosen one is not immune to the scourge of sin. David's transgreessions may rival even the best that television and movie writers could come up with. He openly broke one of the rules set out by God for the way a king should relate to his people. In the meantime, he also got dragged in by at least one of the 7 deadly sins and broke a commandment or two... And that's just in one episode that we read in the Bible. This doesn't mean David was a bad person. But it does mean he had to deal with the consequences of his actions and how it affected his relationship with God.
