"The number one reason why you shouldn't buy an air fryer is because it's getting you the same crispy textural experience as frying food without being as massively unhealthy as deep frying."

I was a pro chef for 30 years, never use my conventional oven these days ... fry food for a couple of days every 4-5 years, but the artery guilt hits... My airfryer is me most used appliance, mine has 3 trays and multifunction, easy to cook a meal for 2, it has a rotisseri too £130 gbp i'm on my second power air fryer xl.. I hammer them for baking roasting.. you name it I make it! Basically what I'm saying is you either don't know how to use an air fryer or you were just clickbaiting...

It seemed to be most people that are using these air fryers are just cooking pre-made frozen food.
Having a convection oven and a convection toaster already and someone that normally doesn't cook frozen food it didnt make much sense to me.

I don't own one and actually never used one, but why are you comparing air frying to deep frying? The good old trusty oven is the real comparison here.

I would personally never buy a basket style airfryer but a toaster oven style one with a good air fryer function like the ninja foodie is indispensable in my kitchen. it's been a work horse for everything from sandwiches to roast chicken. it reminds me a lot of working with Merrychefs in professional kitchens though I miss the steaming function of a proper merrychef.
I think calling them air fryers is part of the problem. they are high power convection ovens and if you stop trying to think of them as a replacement for deep frying and think of them as "the best counter top convection oven" then they are much more valuable.

  • @johnhagen31

Rubbish. An air fryer is an extra device, not a replacement. They use less electricity than a regular oven and are easy to use and keep clean. They use oil vapour which is not just the same as a dry fan oven. The food tasted different from a regular oven. They all come with guidelines for cooking. Nobody sane who buys a new device would not bother with a bit of testing. This video sucks.

      Hi John.
Hmmm, it appears you haven't watched the video till the end. The video at the end mentions three cost-effective air fryers with all the benefits you have mentioned above. We just highlighted a few shortcomings of the air fryer in the beginning...
We are sorry that you didn't find this video helpful.
