    Those RadAlert 50's could be the best buy in Geiger Counters. Most counters only detect Beta and Gamma. The RadAlert also detects Alpha, and even has a separate screen-protected Alpha window. Not only that, but the counter uses one of the best GM tubes available - the LND712. Combine all that with the low cost of the RadAlert 50, and I'm hard-pressed to recommend anything else. There are of course other "Alpha too" Geigers out there, but the prices can be outrageous. compared to the RadAlert.

      Yep, there's at least one left on eBay. I'm not sure when the used market will dry up. They are a good value though. You can even hook them up to a computer with the right software to get a longitudinal reading and monitor changes over time.
