- Here's my Christmas gift to all of you lovely subscribers! We have the nearly complete audience recording from Queen's first Montreal concert of 1981! With this recording now available, we can now compare it to "We Will Rock You," and "Rock Montreal." It is very interesting: Some of the songs and lines match up with one concert DVD (WWRY or Rock Montreal), and others don't. This raises the question of overdubs on the official releases, and possible patchwork from the second night (though we don't have the audience recording from that night). What we can be sure, is that overdubs done on WWRY, were removed for the Rock Montreal release (some songs match Rock Montreal, but they don't match WWRY, but they match this recording)! Though I am skeptical of this claim, I have read posts concerning that there was "autotune" work done for Rock Montreal. We can debate and comment on the videos about this!
Freddie's voice is in excellent shape on this recording, and he delivers some versions of songs, that are better than the second night (Somebody To Love, Under Pressure, and We Are The Champions being prime examples). Although this is counterbalanced by him flubbing the lyrics in Let Me Entertain You, and oversinging the HELL out of Killer Queen! The quality on this concert is pretty good overall (though the pitch is unstable during the first few minutes), and it's mostly complete (Dragon Attack, the Now I'm Here Reprise, and Love Of My Life are missing)!
ENJOY!!! - Hudba
Imagine if he hit the C5 on this version and they used the version from the other night for the official release, haha!
Better than Cologne :)
I can see that happening considering what they did with Somebody To Love
@@luixpaproductionsRight?! It’s an outrage!!
Imagine if he hit the C5 on the other night and they still chose this version
I always liked the way he sang the rock section on Rock Montreal, either it was overdubbed or the audio was taken from the other night's concert. But Montreal 1981 will always be one of my top live BR performances.
it was an overdub and recorded in the studio at 1982
The official version of BR is the first night all the way through. If you listen to it on rock Montreal the small voice crack he has during the rock section lines up with this.
0:43 exactly 10 years later we just had to do that Freddie but damn it's hard as hell 🙁💔
I love your channel. I also love to watch Freddie perform. He was the best frontman of all time. Ive been a Queen fan since the late 70s. Phenomenal.
That second verse is probably the best straight-Bb4 verse he's ever done, in terms of power, confidence, pitch, etc. Even Live Aid's has him wavering towards the end, and isn't as powerful.
And pronunciation as well. His pronunciation on "face" sounded really good. EU Game Tour versions of the pronunciation sounded weird. Sounded more like "pace"
I kinda like the wavering at the end at Live Aid, it adds a different feel to it
My God, I wish for Queen's 40th, they'd release both nights of the concert without any overdubs, or some new videos that they found that are up at the SIS show in England. Or a 70's concert! Come on Queen productions!!
Womp womp
Possibly my 2nd favorite Bohemian Rhapsody live concert. Hyde Park's Boh. Rhap is NO.1 xD!
But hyde park is amazing
It's such a minor crack, no need to overdub it :(
Does he crack on the "Can't do this to me baby", or am I missing something?
I think in the “spit in my eye” too
Considering the decision made to cut out somebody to love it is safe to say we are very lucky to have the first night’s version of Bohemian Rhapsody.
That's because they used the same audio! :P
Great upload! Interesting to watch. It's a shame Rock Monreal has so many unnecesary overdubs in it
wow, amazing! I'd say they sound exactly like the DVD, no fuck ups. Except for the Rock part at the end.
1:18 Piano Overdub?
@@markandrews7835 No it's not, it sounds exactly the same as the official version, someone even released the Official audience microphone sound from the official release, here's the link m.czcams.com/video/h4gQYPb4m3o/video.html, the rock section is not even that overdubbed.

This Is The Best Bohemian Rhapsody Live No C5 Versions Ever?
Yes
@Dark Elite he mean non C5
For me Hammersmith 1979 due to the Carry on attempt
@@paulsimonhernandez1948 But carry on Hammy rather weak
i agree with thiti pubanfit that this is best non c5 version ever and second best 80s version behind the cologne
00:00 ~ 01:43 : No overdubbing
Hard rock part : Overdubbing
00:00-01:43 no overdub but pitch correction
Is this overdubbed to the official release? The first part is completely identical and i'm quite confused, because DVD looks 100% in sync. Did they put both video and audio of first night to the official DVD release?
Yeah I think they did. It looks really in sync.
I they used bohemian rhapsody from 11/24.

I think that with the treatment of Wembley DVD under the Universal banner, Montreal will get the same (2 nights released). I dunno when, though. :(
in official released rock section is completely overdubbed LMAO
Greg, could you help -> Does Freddie sing here "can't to this TO me babe" just like on the ANATO (the "TO" note) ?
So this was on the official release?
Except rock part
@@user-vb1eg4py4m Rock part is from second night
@@user-vb1eg4py4m Rock part is from studio

Is this the concert they recorded or the other one?
Do you know of anyone who has synced this to the video?
the first part is over dubbed on the DVD for sure lol
Yeah they put first night over the second one but at the end it's still freddie's voice and it was done live so I personally don't care (sorry for my english)
@ziggy512 sorry to burst your bubble but it's overdubed on the official release
Ok I know this version is We Will Rock You's Boh. Rhap. :-)
