Ephart is one of those people who was never important and gets desperate to be. So he finds a niche in which he wields some power and goes bananas with the theatrics and judgment. A perfect example of how some people don't really evolve after high school.
Well if you make rules and announce them (I agree this was a particularly stupid rule!) you have to follow through with regulations. Otherwise no one takes it seriously. What's the point? So he's not doing anything out of the ordinary. Donna got away easy
@@WateryFire I understand that and agree you have to follow through. What I am saying is the no leniency rules is over the top, but most of all his theatrics when enforcing them are indicative of a power rush I think is unsuitable for a person in that position.
For someone who has a little history in this area, I'm more on Donna's side. It was a mistake. It's not like she went into a store and stole something. She had a chemical imbalance.

Last time on Beverly Hills, 90210. The group was getting ready for one of the most memorable nights of a high school student's life, THE SENIOR PROM. But at a pre prom party at his apartment, Hugh Hefner (Mel Silver) served champagne to the group, but since Donna didn't eat, she became intoxicated. But by the time her friends tried to bail her out, THEY TOTALLY BLEW IT and she got busted.
When my friend got drunk in Grade 8 at a pre-dance party, she showed up at the party, vomited in the bathroom at school, passed out, and was suspended a week. We start early in Canada - we can hold our liquor.
rewatching this storyline as an adult made me less sympathetic to it b/c i'm like, if this had happened to any other senior, none of them would've cared. of course, the show made sure that this happened to the 1 student who was likely to not get into trouble in the group, which was donna. tbh, donna needed to be held accountable for her actions. she knew the rules and still drank like crazy. she was drunk the moment she walked into that hotel for prom. she could barely stand up on the dance floor with the vice principal literally in the same room. the punishment may have seemed harsh, but all seniors were warned. the school board adding on the other restrictions was the only reason the group got all the other students involved w/the donna martin graduate protest.
The school couldn't let this one go? Donna was someone who never got in trouble. I graduated in 1989 and I don't remember any no drinking rule. In fact most of the senor class rented a party boat and there was alcohol served or they snuck it on the boat. She had 2 glasses of Champagne big deal. I am not condoning giving alcohol to minors but it was just a little Champagne it's not like they were doing shots or having minced drinks all night long.
I'm going to get some dirt on George, I think he and Felice had a fling ..... Donna Martin Graduate!! Donna Martin Graduate!! If only these were the only problems at schools today. I did love the show! I'm heading for the Peach Pit later, care to join me?
I know this was back in 1993 [the year of my real life high school graduation class!] and all, but THIS was total BS back in the day. Yes, Donna was definitely guilty as charge for underage alcohol drinking. But the drinking itself happen at the house of David's father, NOT on school grounds OR at the prom at all. And it was David's father that served the wine to Donna & all of her friends! It was never like Donna went to the liquor store OR wine brewery to paid for wine with cash, debit/credit card, & a fake ID.
*DONNA MARTIN...GRADUATES!?* : ....although back in the Day, I balked LOUDLY at the entire School rallying for Donna (AB-SO-LUTLY unbelievable), She seems to be a pawn for the Principal's (personal) vendetta (2:59).... He doesn't want a crackdown on breaking legalized age laws, but Donna's Dad feels 'George' (3:02) can sweep it under the rug.....looking back, It's a tricky situation to side with, when you grow UP...... When Gil entered with his message from Mrs. Teasley, I guess Brandon should eat his words and his words from the last episode when he said his remarks when Ephardt made his rules official
I never understood this whole thing. My parents would have gone along with the school and said if I was under age who cares where I was drinking. Then they would have said a punishment is a punishment and you knew the rules so no graduation ceremony for you. Just grab your paper certificate and you're grounded all summer. Then they would go after the parent who served minors alcohol. These people think just because they are rich and popular they can do what they want and just say it's OK. Plus dumb Donna should have learned from Kelly that starving herself is not cool.
I always thought it was weird they had this no getting drunk at prom rule but then allowed clubs to pass out quarters to call a cab when drunk or condoms to get it on….same lame
Donna's Dad was one of the best characters in the show ❤ smart, kind, supportive, decent. I wish i had such dad.
Yes he is a gem.

DONNA MARTIN GRADUATE! 👩🏼🎓🎓✌🏼
I've never been more sure I was gonna see a comment in my life 😂
Great Clip! Donna didn't deserve to be suspended! It's heartbreaking she went through that. In the long run I'm happy she got to graduate!
George ALREADY made his decision, this meeting was just a formality
He was also NOT sorry about suspending Donna
The debut of Dr. John Martin
Superintendent Ephardt was VERY MAD

Donna didn't commit a crime, unlike Steve
She had a few glasses of champagne on an empty stomach. The only thing she did that everyone else didn't was get drunk and get sick and get caught.
I gotta say, Donna's prom intoxication really was the cherry pit on top of a "fantastic" season
Dude did you even see the whole episode and story of how it all started!?
Donna should have dropped out of school to become a wino.
Mrs. Teasley knew about the rule and had to report it to the school board
she's horrible. she could have made an exception. and to think they invited her to weddings and stuff
@@mattsmith-er3qu why did she defer to Mrs. Sanders and allow steve to stay in when he broke and entered after hours?

Did she murder someone, what is happening?
she was caught drunk
She got caught drunk at prom after it was announced that anyone caught drunk at prom wouldn’t graduate.

I think Donna's parents were based on Tori's real life parents. The mom looks exactly like Candi Spelling.
The actress Katherine Cannon does resemble Candy in her style and hair in this era a lot
