The warmth has been rough. We are just now about to see it here where I’m at otherwise we’ve been pretty spoiled this winter with snow and weather conditions. I guess we were due for some warm weather. Was 40 degrees today 😑
Before I went twin pipes I had 380 mains, 45 pilots running a 50/50 mix of 110 and 91 with timing on D. The switch from G to D and dropping from 420 mains and 55 pilots made a huge difference! It ran so much better and way more snappy. Plus got better fuel mileage. Now I have factory twins so I went back up to 440 mains and holy crap the snocross pipes with the tight stinger make the throttle response insane
@@DIPSTICKTV so far I just dropped weight to 54 grams and set the helix in the secondary to the 66-44 angle. Probably going to get it more dialed over the summer with a different helix and secondary spring but it works decent as is. I also have a mod ecu. Basically the stock timing curve falls off around 8800 rpm. So the mod flash extends the timing curve out basically. I'm targeting 91-9200 for the Polaris factory pipes. Definitely not a long pull setup but it's a riot to ride!

Snow here has been too good this season to be having sleds pulled apart in the garage lol. gives me an opportunity to get some sled content in the off season too I suppose.

50 pilot holy shit that’s huge! Same with the 420’s. We run 370 mains down to -0 and 35 pilot .7 paj and stock starter timing on E on My 19 axysR same on the 16 iqr we play around on, you guys are running them WAY too fat! and that’s all on straight pump 91, with a slightly cut head. Forest lake MN here.
I'm not positive what's in my sled yet, that's just what he's running in his. We're only about 100 ft higher in elevation. Ill be digging into my sled once the snow melts. Lots I want to do but we'll see what all we end up doing.
@@DIPSTICKTV if your not willing to dive into the carbs I wouldn’t add race gas then without knowing where it’s jetted, you won’t like the price tag of rebuilding a blow up 600R
@@brandonblesi6046 of course I’ll be going through the carbs if/when I swap it to 110. I’ve only owned the sled for about a month and haven’t had any reason to tear into anything yet. Just been focusing on getting used to it while all the good snow is here. Heck of a lot more than just the carbs will be dug into once the snow melts. And yeah, Cody rebuilt his 600 at the end of last fall and it wasn’t a pretty bill lol.

Hey great video as per usual! One thought though, I’m not sure why you and Cody keep saying you want to change your IQr’s “back” to run 110. They came from the factory to run on 92 minimum. I always ran 94 in mine if I could find it. You won’t gain any real power from simple putting 110 in your sled. It’s only made to handle high compression motors without detonating. Unless you modify your heads for high compression you’re just wasting your money on 110. Love the vids though! Thought I’d give some advice! Cheers man
See, that’s what I was under the impression I needed to make more power happen. That’s how my 440 was explained to me and had 170 for compression. Cody had looked into it and thought differently. The more I have looked into it, the more I realize you seem to be right. I need high compression heads, jetting, and timing changes to really see any power change and even then it only sounds like it would be 3-5hp change. I guess it’s something to think about more down the road since the heads appear to be in the $500 range lol. I also seen that I could modify my heads to be shaved 14:1 / 14.5:1 or something like that by a machine shop for $150-200. Again, more to think about on my end. Yeah honestly man, just go by the old saying, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Those sleds rip hard enough on pump gas, just focus on your jetting and clutches. Both your sleds sound pretty good to me. Fun fact: I think it was after 2007 model year, all Polaris IQrs came running on pump gas so it was more affordable for amateur race teams (like myself at the time). That’s kinda why they dropped the 440 high compression motors and went with the bulletproof 600 ves. Same power, easier on the wallet to race and practise.
The skidoo rev chassis may be ideal for the price point. You can find them for a little cheaper than the firecats as well, which would be a second option. Polaris was a couple years behind on the rider forward platfrom so you end up on a newer sled, costing more money. Can find some cheaper IQRs but they are usually cheap for a reason; they were beat.

It is getting closer and closer to the end, unfortunately. Just gotta eat it up while its here! The sled up for sale is news to me though. I know he's had it up a couple other times this winter and pulled it down so we'll see what he's got in mind for it this time.
They return the sleds back to stock as much as they can. Pretty sure that’s the sled I bought from the team. I put the 8.8 gallon tank, skis, and hand guards on. Should be able to tell if it’s mine by the chain case, i blew the chain case and had to replace it, I painted the “Polaris” black. It also has some bulk head cracks. One side had been fixed but the other side was still cracked when I sold it. It might not be my old sled though either, there was a few of them and of course they look the same so it’s hard to tell.
They take the mod motors out to reuse and also anything overly expensive that can be reused. Ill check that chaincase aspect out. I talked to Levi and got the whole story on the sled including it's history. Will talk about it in a future vid for sure.

Twin pipes are something I’m looking into doing. Did you have to mess with your clutching a lot or no?

Im saving up for a new sled what should I get? I don't have much money but im looking for a rider forward sled
