    Hello Mrs Rice
    You are one of my favorite writers and I love you immensely.
    I'm from Poland, a country in eastern Europe which is extremely catholic- partly due to the fact that there was a Polish pope. I'm gay and I was growing up in a rural environment where the religious values were placed before everything else. It didn't matter that the vicar, who actually ruled the town, was a super greedy man whose only aim in life was gaining power and profit, he was also a gambler and active alcoholic

    I stopped being a catholic because I realized that it was making me a hateful person, and when I stopped being religious I started to have more empathy with my fellow human beings. I know for some people religion works, it makes them better people but it didn't worked for me, it only made me hate on minorities and judge others on their actions and beliefs. I'm a much better human now, I have more empathy.

    I am Christian but not in a "conventional" way I believe that religion is firstly about love, acceptance, about questioning our choices to become a better version of ourselves, for the sake of us and the others. For me love is love no matter what and love is also understanding that others have to make their own choices and that is not our business. What we can do is encourage the others in the things that makes them happy. That's why I "pratice" my religion alone, because I want it to be personnal, like a precious tresure that I'd keep with decence. I like churches but the small and old ones where you can be alone, enjoying the smells, the lights and serenity of the place, where you can pray like you'd make a confidence to a friend. I'm Christian in my heart but my beliefs are not as extreme as certain. I truly believe in the fact that if you do bad things, one day you'll be punished, and that judging your action isn't my place, because I am far from perfect myself. And you know what ? I am not even afraid to go to hell, because if I go there one day it would mean that I deserve it and I then will have to face the consequences of my actions. Anyway that my conception of my beliefs and your points are more than fair and valid !

    I so agree with you, Anne! As a Catholic myself it was a hard choice, but since I am gay I had to bale. I did find a catholic church that was everything I needed, it was an Episcopal Church! It was Catholic in every way, but welcomed LGBT people. It has both men and women priests and bishops, some are even LGBT . I needed this place to heal from the conflicts of living in a Church that hated me just for how I was born. Now I don't need anyone or church to tell me this. I love what Jesus stands for and the Buddha too! Everything you have said means so much to so many! Thank you!

      So, In other words you found a church that will pat you on the back and tell you your okay living in sin? More churches are going that route these days. They comfort the sinner at the expense of their soul. They make people feel comfortable just to get numbers. There is no more preaching about righteousness and the fear of God. Our nation is going down the drain because of it. My friend, repent while your heart still beats! I only warn you out of love for your soul, not bigotry or hatred. There is a Heaven to gain and a hell to shun! God bless you, my friend!

    • @org6760
      @org6760 Před 7 lety +1

      Johnathan Reynolds The thing is that you sin every single day, NO exception. Because it is impossible to not sin; if you would follow the hundrends of mandatories in thr Bible you couldn't live lile you're living... SO the question is, if you sin every day because you can't help it, who are you to tell others not to sin (when it comes to homosexuality, for example)? they can't help it either. They love the same sex. It's not just sexual attraction, it's love too. And they can't help it, just like you can't help sinning every single day with other sins... So what really matters is your intentions. To follow God and be kind and help others. If you do that I'm sure God will accept you in His kingdom, because he, as the representation of love that He is, understands everyone. He's perfect.

    • @johnathanreynolds8221
      @johnathanreynolds8221 Před 7 lety

      O RG , Of course! The problem I have is when churches CONDONE such things and not warn it as a biblical sin! And if a person struggles with homosexual feelings it is one thing! It shows you are fighting sexual urges! If you just cave in and go all fruit loops that is another thing altogether! You see what I mean??

    • @org6760
      @org6760 Před 7 lety +1

      Yes, I do see what you mean. And I also see that you see homosexuality as a "sexual thing" or something. But just so you know, homosexuality is like heterosexuality -it is love towards someone, too... There are many homosexual couples that have been together for decades and continue to do so. They love each other, and for me love is love... The Bible also says you shouldn't eat bacon or dye or cut your hair and stuff like that, but all of that is non sensical to me, so I don't follow it... Because if God exists, He is perfect and the representation of love, and He would only care about us being a good person, having good intentions, helping people etc. That's what really matters, not being against homosexuality bacon and stupid things like that.

    • @johnathanreynolds8221
      @johnathanreynolds8221 Před 7 lety

      O RG , Understand that the Bible has an old AND new testament. Christians primarily live by new testament teachings and practices! The law about bacon was an old testament law. After Jesus came and died for our sins he abolished the old laws! The only thing I follow under the old testament is the ten commandments! If the new testament didn't have any rules about homosexuals, I would say live and let live. It has some VERY specific teachings about homosexuality though! In Romans it is said homosexuality is an "abomination" to God! It doesn't say anything about stoning them because that would go against what Jesus said about human lives and the ten commandments rule of "Thou shalt not kill"! That is what separates Christianity from, say, Islam! People say the two are the exact same - but they aren't! 👍

  • @jbarrett1260
    @jbarrett1260 Před 13 lety +1

    True Christianity would NEVER say that Gay people are an abomination. Christianity does say that the only sexual expression of love is a life giving act that is open to life. If the sexual expression is not life giving(something less than a committment for life) or not open to life than it is an immoral act. The person however is never called an abomination. We always retain our human dignity and are infinitely loved by God.

    I also used to be a "Christian", though now I am a disciple of Jesus, big difference, The Bible is a mixture of the words of men and the words of God. Once you separate the two the word Religion becomes meaningless. Reading only the four gospels as "gospel" is what the instructions state.

    Anne, you're so right about the church picking on gays. They should be picking on every one else too. Take a look at 1 Cor 6 begining with verse 9. It reads:
    "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God."
    So it's not just homosexuality that is the problem but also adultery, drunkeness, and swindling....I hope you will agree.

    i think that there is a huge difference between faith and religion. i say this has a gay male. i am not downing any religion and whether you are a into catholic or morman or whatever that's your choice and i think its great that people go to church and put their trust in god. however i think the most important thing is to really believe in god. honestly i don't like to go to church because i feel like some churches really tell you one thing but then turn around and say another so i just kind of lone it and put my faith in GOD the one true power. recently i just finished a novel about a detective whos foster parents were murdered by a demon when he was a child. His guardian angel Carlos saved him and now the main character jack who has always been able to see angels and demons for how they truely are hunts them for a living and he gets into a gay relationship with carlos later on the book. now i'm sure i will recieve alot of negative critism for that but anne rice's words have really helped me to stay strong in my writing. what people dont realize is that she is just speaking how she feels and we do that has human beings everyday. just like how i write what i want to write

    really sad to see how many people think that clinging to their own morals is the right answer. A murderer thinks it's ok to kill people, that's his morals. Who are u to tell him he is wrong? That's exactly why it is only GOD and His holy standards that matter. And we cannot reach this standard, that's why God sent His Son to die for the sins of those who would believe.

    Yes, God loves all of His creatures, but He is HOLY and can't STAND any sin, so nobody can say their morals are right and that's it. Morals come from God. Abortion is a murder, for example. Watch the '180 movie' here on CZcams. All that matters is whether u are right with God, and u can only be right with Him by accepting Christ as your Lord and Saviour, not by doing 'good deeds' and being a 'decent person'. If God says it's sin, it IS SIN.

    "there's no persecution of gay people"
    BS. I can't get married partly because, as instructed by Pope Benedict himself, thousands of Catholics vote against gay marriage every chance they get. If that isn't religious persecution, what is? You can't condemn an act without condemning the people associated with it. It's as ridiculous as saying "Jewish people are okay, but we just find Jewish traditions immoral".

    @RevolutionaryWind Key word she says here is "...what I believe is wrong". Her views are independent from the truth of God. Basically calling Him a liar. That's contradictory. How can she believe at one time "God is good" and yet turn on Him and declare "no you're not good". True faith doesn't believe part of God. You might as well throw Christ out altogether, which is what she's done. P.S. I never asked your opinion on Christ.

    So, from what I gather from this video it's not Christianity that you have a problem with, it's the people who claim to be Christians. Is that right? I think you may know that Christian means 'like Christ' - and Christ showed nothing but love to people. So, while I disagree with you about some things, I can completely understand your outrage at some people who are really only in it for themselves. I do hope you'll stay close to God though. Christianity is not a religion - it's a relationship. :]

    Seems like there is a trend among christians who have "Qoute on Qoute" gay children...they end up becoming sympathetic to the gay lifestyle. This is the reason God told the Israelites to completely slay their enemies...so they would not be partakers in the sins of the rest of the world.
