I’d cut that narrow bar separating the upper and lower openings and mount it in the upper section. Maybe 3D print a custom bezel if needed but it just looks made for that spot!

Definately install it inside the upper hole. It looked really cool in there.

Yes, and don't put it to far inside because then it could be difficult to touch it with your fingers.

@@Imholze It seemed to go rather flush though. 👍

Interesting! That would make a nice human/machine interface. Perfect fit for the upper hole! Go for it.

The "Cheap Yellow Display" is also well worth a look. It has very limited GPIO pins available but the price is so low they are practically disposable.
BTW - I have soldered directly on to one side of the esp32 module on mine to gain access to some gpio pins (0,4,16,17,5,22). Its display is around 3" which may fit your robot better?

I'd put the display in the upper opening after removing the thin cross bar. Then you could just add some replacement for the cross bar at the lower edge of the display. I was also wondering if the display might want to be tipped back somewhat to make it a little easier to read from above. This thing is going to be traveling on the floor so except for Imsai Dog, most of us would be looking down at it.

Tanks for the great video. I've been working on an open source SDR controller using a Nextion HMI display, however after seeing this video I'm going to look into swapping to the Elecrow since it's open source and ESP32.

This looks interesting for one of my gates. I need to build a keypad / call box interface that can ultimately generate a contact closure for the gate controller. Wonder how water and sun resistant it is?

Minor beef with Elecrow - I bought the Crowpi2 laptop, and they will not give out schematics - I have raised it several times, but they refuse.

I had this module - kind of unsafe if your battery has no protection circuit as this module has no proteaction at all - just charger.
Sold and bought simple LCD with SPI bus and connected to my ESP32 board.

The programming is easy but the gui interface isn’t so
