It's very elegant in that color combination. Having been owned by Betty White, and with just 18k miles on it, it's quite collectible. Betty was beloved by all.

@@davidallen5776 I don't think so at all. I remember when these came out and my parents and grandparents generation complained about them. They thought the price was way too high for such a "small car." Also, it was too technologically advanced for the times so it never really caught on. I do remember one man who my family knew that bought one (he had a lot of money) and I still remember my aunt saying "Ray is crazy and should have his head examined for paying all that money for that little car!"

1987, I had a '77 Cadillac Seville that I removed the Oldsmobile 350 engine and installed an Oldsmobile W-30 455 engine and Buick Magnum 500 wheels. It was as awesome car. I kept it for 10 years before selling it in '97.

I wonder how many miles are on it? That phone would not have been installed in '77. AT&T was still Bell System in '77, that phone would have been from after 1984.

    • @retroguy9494
      @retroguy9494 Před 3 lety +1

Very true! This phone very obviously uses the AMPS system which did not come out until I believe, 1984. While I believe the phone is the cars "original" as he said, the car did not come with it. She had to have it installed at least 7 years after she owned it. From what I've read, the car has only about 18,000 miles on it.

Ive got a under 40k mile 1976 seville really pretty rare dunbarton green
do what I did to my car right when I bought it
a smog pump and lines ectomy removal of all the polution
    crap.
that big void between the compressor and the alternator the open veiw of the oil fill tube not covered up by a smog pump
on my car im converting the AC to a modern version with bracket and sanden compressor in place were the smog pump was and removing the $600 to replace frigidare A6 compressor
but using R12 to keep it cold. have not got the conversion installed yet just getting the parts, the new system may require use of the 1974 nova classic AC conversion kit to be rid of the infamous failing ac heat programmer that says blower no blow lol
replacement parts for the aftermarket system 10 times less costly and avaiabilty is no problem.
hope its an icy cold seville soon.
cadillacs have always had ac problems the down side of the great old school cadillacs.the damned HVAC programmer no longer available
there is an inline fuse for the fuel injection computer in the center of steering wheel under dash
replace it with a fuse relay and save yourself a tow
its sometimes not the computer box, its interupted power via that fuse powering the compter thats bad it gets hot poor contact but doesnt blow so its never discovered.
$10 car starts everytime. that fuse was getting hot
replaced fuse blade style relay stays cool. good contact to 12volt
difficult to do job wires are very short but solved the problem
shops will instantly blame the computer box and run up a big bill, get rid of that inline fuse and replce the intank pump rid of the cat converter smog pump and enjoy driving the car

Thunderstorms 06... I also had a '76 Seville in Dunbarton Green, back in the 1980s. It had the white vinyl top and dark teal leather in perfect shape. I sold it and now regret that I did. It was such a unique car. It sounds like you figured quite a few fixes that Cadillac never did. I wish I knew you back then when I owned the car for the years I did. I enjoyed reading your post, thanks 😊

As if the air injection reactor pump reduced power - they actually help tailpipe emissions. So many internal engine changes accompanied low emissions vehicles and people think that removing equipment can improve horsepower output when it’s reduced compression, retarded valve timing and spark timing that kills power output. Bet yours is great with a 455!

@@Samuelfish2k wow, i forget how old i'm getting :) yeah, those early ones were cool though. interesting tidbit on the STS- the hubcaps were fully machined from 6061 aluminum... no surprises there... but the slugs we made them out of were 1" thick 'knock outs' from semi wheel forgings- yeah, the 5 ounce hubcap was cut from a 5 pound chunk of bent up aluminum...wheels were 100 times easier/cheaper to produce...we used the knockouts because they were basically free scrap- think we only had to pay alcoa whatever weight/cost we didnt return as chips for resmelting... folks dont realize a forged car wheel can come in at 120 pounds and go out as a 20 pound shelby piece...tons of machining, compared to the ounces trimmed off a chinese cast wheel :(

Hey thats pretty interesting information there. I actually used to work for an aluminum company here in California in the early 2000’s so I’m very familiar with 6061 & 6063 :)
Company used to buy from Alcoa, Kaiser, if I remember correctly the next big name was Indalex and also Sapa? It’s been over a decade but I really enjoyed working there.
