Dmitry Orlov was born in Leningrad, USSR, into an academic family, and emigrated to the US in the mid-1970s. He holds degrees in Computer Engineering and Linguistics, and has worked in a variety of fields, including high-energy physics, Internet commerce, network security and advertising. He is the author of several previous books, including Reinventing Collapse and The Five Stages of Collapse.
I am retired Swiss engineer. If I was younger I would not hesitate to migrate to Russia.
Russia is the place of the future.
Consider China too!
去共产中国?殖民西藏,新疆集中营,无数胡鑫宇式案件,背信消灭香港自治,妄图侵略台湾。如果有地狱,中国就是。中国和俄罗斯完全不同。
👍 I'm now telling my young, recently graduated friends here in Canada to look into moving to either Russia or China. It's clear where the future lies.
Faith Family Sovereignty ! If I was younger I’d be there to
Me too..
Bravo for President Putin, and the Russian people 🇷🇺👏
Much love from the USA..♥️

What a nonsense : in reality: (Russia lost 300 000 troops vs NATO: 0 troops lost)
Sweden+Finland joined NATO vs Moldova and Armenia left RUSSIA sphere of influence
Over 30% of Russian Black Sea fleet already sunk 😁😁👍
Also because of TRUMP - everyone is paying its own share in NATO now 👍
Amen to that ❤❤❤❤from Sweden ❤❤❤❤
bravo putin bravo kim junk un bravo natanyahu
Oh, boy! You just don’t know them. Main problem is that our (the US) government played into Russian hands. They should avoided war in any cost. They could used different approaches; for example integrating Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia into economic, but not military alliances. Normalize relations with Syria and Iran. Rid of Turkey from NATO. This could completely isolate Russia economically.
@anata5127 pure fantasy, already tried with Georgia and failed, Turkey is more important to the west and Erdoğan knows it so he plays them like a fiddle, as for Syria and Iran they know exactly what the US and the west are their main enemy and has been for 70 years, with the US and UK overthrowing an elected PM and for 40+ years stealing there oil while the evil Shar his savas police torturing and murdering hundreds of thousands, forget changing either 😂😂
Dmitry Orlov is a great guest.
Engaging, lucent and clear analysis.
Watching from Somalia.
Greetings from the UK excellent post 📫!
DItto, watching from France.

Right on point 👍 watching from Canada 🇨🇦
You have some very excellent guests. I really enjoy listening to Dmitry Orlov.
Indeed. And he gives space for his guests to develop.

as a westerner i feel shame about the way our leaders have operated. in their mind might makes right and the world has suffered.
Forget about the western 'leaders' WE ought to be ashamed of ourselves....

The collective west is an occupied territory by the private banking cartel (heavily zionist) and mega-corporations (mostly of a fascist kind). Look at the ongoing Genocide in the Palestine to understand who makes rules for the western governments. Supremacists are devoid of merci, honesty, and shame. Talmudic education is rather straightforward towards all "others."

"Russia doesnt really need that money. The West needs every cent they can get their hands on"... 😮
That was cold. I felt it.
In Canada we are 2.4 trillion in debt, never in our history have we been 1 trillion. Canada is become a shithole under Trudeau
Excellent comment from Dmitri. The West continues to be clueless and destroys itself.
I love Orlov. I mean he's so right to the point.
One of the best analysts out there on these topics.
I agree wholeheartedly.
Dmitry is your best interviewee
I always watch out for the next Dmitry Orlov. Russia and Putin is great. From ZA South Africa
Greetings from the Northern Cape/Kalahari
Dmitry is the BEST commentator, thank you both!!
Dmitry Orlov is simply excellent. No idea why he is not on more shows. Why can we not grow such talent in the West? All we get are clowns and academic criminals.
The name has something to do with it !! ha ha ha
I always love listening to Dmitry especially when you hear the US representatives sound like cartoon characters, he's a true scholar
Awesome
Brilliant conversation with Dmitry Orlov.👌👍
Dmitry cracks me up with his ultra dry humour.

Meanwhile, mass production of three-ton FAB-3000 aerial bombs with a planning and correction module began in Russia... In Russia they have already been called “French Kiss”.
👏👏👏
Orlov's a great analyst. Bravo.
My, my, Russia needs skilled workers in factory automation systems.
Damn, if I was just 20 years younger, I'd be gone from here and no longer a Western corporate wage slave after 40 years of the political business class destroying my livelihood.
I moved to Russia at 51 years old and have done well in starting businesses and overall having a much better quality of life that was possible in my native California even with the great difference in income, life is just better, with no debt, very few bills, very low cost of living, safe streets united friendly country, great free services such as medical care. The difference in access to culture is infinite because 96% of Americans have no access to culture, I arrived with 2 suitcases and $6000 in Jan 2000 and at the time, my basic cost of living in California was $23,000 a month 24 years ago, but live better here.
Much respect for Dimitry Orlov
It’s a joy to listen to Mr orlov and the success of Russia. There are many people that have change their opinion regarding Russia. I would if I was younger move there myself! Putin talk about values that I agree with, it’s heartbreaking to see the west destroying themselves. This war has opened our eyes for what USA is really like, their downfall has been long coming
Keep it coming! Dmitry Orlov is my all time fav commentator. Then comes Colonel MacGregor, Scott Ritter, Larrry Johnson and so on. But there is something in the way Dmitry presents his ideas that cuts it for me. I hope you will invite him more often in the future. I tried to search him on CZcams, but it appears that your channel is the only one on YT that gives him the platform .
D.O is my favourite because of his direct analysis of reality!
Also: ANDREI MARTYANOV

He has written some amazing books!
I've just discovered Dmitry Orlov, this is the second time I listen to him. He is very intelligent and insightful and has now become my favourite analyst of world issues, alongside Andrei Martyanov.
Very illuminating realistic update again.
Thanks Dima
He has no principals. His only issue is that the west didn't allow Russia into their club. That is what guides him. @@constantquestioning4010

Another extraordinary discourse by the
brilliant scholar and commentator,
Dmitri Orlov! His profound depth of
understanding of geopolitics,
geoeconomic, military affairs and
international relations, is quite
remarkable! He provides us with
astute insights and incredibly
accurate viewpoints , that few others

"So much Russia winning alone while the EU and Nato lose together"
Since 2014 Russia has liberated 2000 km of coastline 134,000 sq Km of territory and expanding daily and what was area that made up 42% of Ukraines 2014 GDP. Also 63 percent of Ukrainian reported coal mines are under Russian control as of July 2022.
This trend continues across other key sectors: Russia controls 27 percent of Ukraine's iron ore deposits, 50 percent of its manganese ore deposits, 100 percent of its strontium supplies, and roughly 20 percent of precious metal deposits.
According to SecDev estimates, the total worth of all Ukrainian mineral wealth now under Russian control is around $12 trillion.

“liberated” 2000 km of coastline, etc. the rest of your comment demonstrates the real reason for Putin’s invasion of Ukraine! NOT “defending the motherland”, NOT “defeating Nazis”, NOT “protecting Russians living in Ukraine”. The real reason is simple - a territory grab to secure even more natural resources than Russia already has! How can anyone support Russia’s invasion of a sovereign neighbouring State when this is the real reason?
WOW
The EU and Vicky Nuland have a lot of egg on their face…. Eventually the Eu will be the Russian federation’s biggest customer ..
Good news
Keep up the pretense Russian lover. NATO has at least 3 times the military power of Russia, and has not even started yet!!!!
Excellent questions and very insightful replies.
Thanks so much nima, love Dmitrys analysis, AWESOME CONVERSATION
Dmitry Orlov has always been a calm true analyst , bravo sir .
Mr. Orlov seems very knowledgeable on many aspects.
Love Mr. Orlov. I always look forward to any of his interviews. Very direct insight with the problems.
Insightful and interesting commentary
*Insightful and engaging interview as always with Mr. Dmitry Orlov*
Dimitri seems to stand well back, sees everything clearly, and tells it as it is. The result is stark, credible, and for us in the West, very disturbing. Even so, I am grateful that Russia remains the adult in the room. So, of course, is Dimitri Orlov and he has been so for many years. A brilliant interview, Nima. You're so good at listening.
he is a great thinker, sounds like you are pretty sharp yourself.
Splendid program and interview - both höst and guest are very knowledgeable and sharp

Thank you, Nima. Orlov is superbly perspicacious and insightful here.
Dmitri Orlov is a strategic thinker that does his homework. While I cannot agree with some of his US conclusions, his grasp on future realities is spot on(IMHO)
Dimitry is100% correct, very intelligent man. 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Dmitry never disappoint
Nothing short of a superb overview of current geopolitics, particualarly regarding Russia's disengagement from the West and the challenges, and huge opportuinities that this presents.

Wow and Bravo Nima for your guest
As a American who just saw Tucker go to a Russian grocery and buy what Tucker said would be $400 dollars of food in
the US. And walk out of a Russian grocery with that food for $105 dollars. As a worker I say damn that impresses me,
give me some of that type economy!
Russia and the United States have completely different prices and different economic structures. Our salaries in dollar terms are not comparable. I know that in the USA, with my salary of $1,500, I would be a beggar and would live under a bridge, my wife's salary is absolutely ridiculous - $270 in equivalent. However, in Russia we have a two-bedroom apartment, which was given to my mother by the state for free during the Soviet era. Of course there is a crossover. We built a summer cottage with a plot of 20 acres in the suburbs of St. Petersburg according to our own project. There are two vacations a year for two weeks, usually spent at sea in Egypt or Turkey, but recently we discovered Russian destinations that are amazing. In addition, we provided our two daughters with higher education at prestigious universities, and not on credit. I forgot to mention free medicine and education in Russia.
@@vladimirnikolskiy I envy you, Russians had a taste of vulture capitalism under Yeltsin.
@@vladimirnikolskiyI live in city center St Petersburg and love the quality of life. My basic income is about $1400 a month self employed but before covid shut down cruise ships arriving every day in the summer my tour operator company did well for 19 years and never took took more than $3500 a month and just let the profits be reinvested into the next season because the true cost of living is so low compared to my native USA.My monthly cost of living in California as $23,000 a month and still lived at a lower quality of life than here in Russia when gave everything away in 2000 and moved to St Petersburg the same day in Jan 2000 that Putin was sworn in. I brought only 2 suitcases and $6000 with me. You can't compare lives by dollars, and almost any money American spend are on credit cards with 20% interest. Russians generally have higher net wealth because most own their homes, have no university debt, no medical debt and have savings. The large middle and working class now in the US has a negative net worth and gets deeper in debt daily.
There are some priceless advantages to living here. my GF could walk through any neighborhood in this city of 7mil(5.5 registered here and 1.5 million registered elsewhere),,,alone, at 3am. No US city is as safe and as friendly as any Russian city. One trait of Russians of all ages, they are very cultured and grow up with access to culture no other country can offer. The city has 600 beautiful parks and more museums than any other city in the world. Access to drama, ballet, opera, symphonies, great museums etc is available to every one and they frequently are involved in the arts. There 54 classical music halls, 16 ballet and opera, 237 drama theaters, 56 comedy theaters, 273 world topping museums and a total of all museums in the city and suburbs is 483. The balance between nature and culture is very good here, everyone knows how to grow food, they often spent the summers at the family dacha with grandmother learning about nature gardening and food. Food quality is definitely better in Russia, cheaper and no GMO, or additives that have exploded obesity and health problems in the west, bad food is all that is available to most people in the US. The US is falling apart and no other country thinks that is a bad thing. The anger, division, corruption and hostility where there are at least 1000 factions and each one hates all 999 others, even the 67 genders hate each other. Here, it seems that everyone gets along and there 2only two genders with flexibility between them in preferences. It is hard to walk down the street without meeting someone new who is interesting, friendly and well mannered. Men and women like each other, imagine that....
More great insights from Mr. Orlov.
Thank you gentlemen, great interview!!!
Excellent program 👏
Dema, Mr. Orlov is one of the most informed and interesting person to listen to. Thank you both.
Great news! Thanks for doing these infirmative podcasts, i really enjoy your interviewing style!
I feel sorry for us here in the USA we do not have any person who could qualify to be a real leader to lead this great country. We need a great leader here like Putin.
But would the CIA allow such a leader to lead....or live. The last great president was JFK and he crossed CIA.
GREAT PROGRAM !!!
Thank you Nima and Dmitry. Your work is extremely important for us.
Great interview, very informative. Many thanks to the host and his guest.
What a wonderful thought-provoking program. Thanks Dmitry and Nima.
Thank you Nima and Dmitry. Always excellent analysis.
I enjoy listening to Mr. Orlov because he is even more cynical than I am. Quite an accomplishment. I think he underestimates the role of our special friends in MI6 though, who are given carte blanche to create havoc in Crimea and have destroyed 14 Russian ships. Not too bad for a country with a degraded Navy. Europe traded sovereignty for security paid for mostly by the U.S. Not a great idea long term, Europe. Many give the U.S. too much credit. Americans are not imperialist by nature. Europeans are. We are seeing just how bad the U.S. is at imperialism in all these losing wars, and the U.S. is degraded and run down. Stick with China, Russia. Forget the west.
Trump just announced that he's "100% behind NATO." 😂 Anybody who thinks getting rid of Biden will make one scrap of difference is kidding herself.
Exactly and with Jared Kushner as his vile son in law, we will not see a change in the support to Zionist genocidal Israel.
The way most people look at it is like this, we know exactly what we will get with more Biden. There’s a chance things will be better under Trump. So they will take a chance with Trump.
Biden is also very Cold War politically. Trump wants to have a good relationship with Russia. We should have a good relationship with Russia. They are not the Soviet Union.
@@barnabusdoyle4930 Come on. Think about this. Trump is the guy who first sent Javelins to Ukraine; he's also the guy who ranted and raved about the evils of Nord Stream. Now he supports NATO "100%". Is any of this likely to create "a good relationship with Russia"? Of course not. Trump is a tool of the Neocons and the permanent state, just like Biden, just like Nikki Halley and Genocide Jr. I wish it was different, I really and truly do, but, sadly, it isn't.
Trump must speak that way NOW. Trump is the only FREEDOM LOVING POLITICIAN IN THE US
Yes, as Dmitry Orlov has said, no big difference in outcome, whoever wins the election, for the big picture, there is a deepstate
Excellent discussion. Thank you
The Russians should continue strengthening their economy creating more opportunities for her people. That way the home grown talent can remain in the country and the talent that left can return to their homeland if they choose.
Yes, it is. Russia urgently needs to change the laws on granting residence permits and citizenship to professionals. At the moment, these laws are working for the arrival in Russia of only illiterate people from the republics of Central Asia, who are able to work only as janitors.

In 2019, the RAND Corporation, which is a major component of the U.S. military-industrial complex, published a report titled Extending Russia: Competing from Advantageous Ground, which offers a sort of updated game plan on how to destabilize and weaken Russia- "1. Provide lethal aid to Ukraine 2. Increase support to Syrian rebels 3. Promote regime change in Belarus 4. Exploit tensions in the South Caucasus [in particular Armenia and Azerbaijan] 5. Reduce Russian influence in Central Asia 6. Challenge Russian presence in Moldova As we know, all of these measures have been implemented to one degree or another. On the fifth point, the most important country in Central Asia is Kazakhstan, where an attempted coup, supported by the “usual suspects” from the West, was just thwarted (cf. below)"

I ask people that are surprised at my respect for Putin as a leader: "Imagine for a moment that you are Russian. How then would you say Putin is doing as a leader of Russia?"
wait! people around here have imagination?
Compared to the chaos of the collapse of the USSR, of course Putin seems like an improvement, but life improved for Russians because Russia opened up to the rest of the world, particularly Western countries, in terms of trade and outlook. Putin’s KGB/FSB background always left him with a chip on his shoulder about the disintegration of the Soviet Union and he has always held an ambition to restore it in some form.
@@drysia26 You seem to have forgotten that Yeltsin was president between the USSR and Putin, and Russia's fate did not improve during that time. You also seem to have picked up on a bit of Western propaganda regarding Putin's desire to restore the USSR, what he actually said was that if you do not miss the USSR you have no heart, but if you want to restore the USSR you have no brain. Putin has a brain, it seems to work well.
@@drysia26 Under Yeltsin, who said the revealing phrase while in the United States, "God save America," we Russians did not know how to survive in Russia, which was Hell. Under Putin, we finally felt that we were human.
@@drysia26 borrowing yr phrase, that chip is on your shoulder, not President Putin, given yr arrogance and abject lack of human psychology understanding. only brilliant, strong, far-sighted, incorruptible leaders who love their countries and their people will always strive to bring their countries forward. and there's never any chip on their shoulders. these are natural born leaders, not mere mortals like u. there are only 3 natural born leaders in modern history who bring their countries out of abject poverty and chaos - Deng Xiaoping, Lee Kuan Yew, Vladimir Putin. China, Singapore, Russia are very lucky to win the sovereignty lottery with these natural born leaders as their proudest sons.
