  • Nice start with a bosch hammer only needing a lead.
    Wouldn't be a normal day with something needing a new lead, and at 20 euro, it's not an expensive repair.
    The Trend router was only a simple mod to the housing, so it was a very quick and cheap fix at 10 euro.
    The bosch drill was only as expensive as the chuck that is fitted.
    This was only a basic metal chuck, so it only cost 30 euros to change and save the holesaw cutter.
    The makita grinder is a very cheap fix as the pasts cost very little. 25 covers this, but it would be more if the housing was damaged. which it normally is.
    And finally, the Wurth jigsaw is only a 20euro fix. changing brushes is a very basic fix and costs very little labour normally

    What always makes me feel great in the eyes of my family and people I do work for is the easy fix like a switch not working in position and you just need to scrape away the binding bit of cheap plastic, it makes you look like a wonder man when you fix these problems. I have to say I never would have thought watching someone fix and repair power tools, battery, and mains would be so engrossing. But mate, you are the tops in repairing these tools. Your channel is the Max and so engrossing. Good work through and through Dean, just great, absolutely wonderful watching your work Dean just brilliant.

    Fascinating how a plastic cake pan lid costs as much or more as a complex mechanical device. What a world.

    Love your videos Dean. I'd be very happy if you would consider doing comparison vids like the one with impact wrenches but about drills, grinders and other tools. I think we all learned a lot about tools watching your vids.
    Milwaukee is rarely viable for repair because of cost and no separate parts, their grinders have a bearing problems and overheating problems in general. Dewalt switches can be cleaned and work again instead of replacing. Battery powered saws and grinders are for "light" use etc.
    Tips like that in one video (or a few grinder, drill, saw, battery/corded) would be really helpful although it would be a lot of work for you...Thank you for all the vids so far...
    I'm thinking about buying a bigger corded right angle grinder and the Metabo 26 230 looks nice... :)

    Hey Dean,
    Not sure if this helps but if you need extra leverage for that hole method you used on the router (drilling two holes when the flat head insert has been filled/stripped), you could use the spanner for an angle grinder (two bit set that’s used to change the disks). Might be too big for this but if there’s smaller ones it could be easier/less finicky.
    Best of luck and cheers for the vid 👍
    Sam

    I have a similar makita grinder, its the xag04 but its basically same as that without the variable speed, it doesnt turn on at all and the battery indicator on the grinder itself doesnt turn on either, makes me think maybe l the board is cooked? Cause everything else including switch and stator seem fine, tested the battery connector and all looks Good too. No clue what could be wrong with it really

    If a customer brought in for repair 2 exactly the same Model Makitas or any other grinders or drills for that matter and one needed a controller and one needed a field would you suggest they purchase a field and controller then split them to fix both machines or would you just say not viable to repair?

    • @rudyfromsomewhere3066
      @rudyfromsomewhere3066 Před 7 měsíci +1

      For me price matters, for example makita,dewalt,bosch make some good stuff, but only makita in my country has good enough prices compared to other brands, so for me makita is best but if i lived in usa, I'd probably have another opinion and more options

    It always struck me as very odd that Würth decided to go to Bosch and have them make tools for them that are identical to Bosch but in a Black housing and branded Würth.
    Wouldnt you want to buy the real deal?
    I mean people have got to know its Bosch.

  • @jazko
    @jazko Před 7 měsíci +1

    Dean, have you ever considered advocating for right to repair (meaning the government body to force companies to sell parts individually not as an assembly, so makes more tools economical to repair, rather than throw away.)

    • @petrokemikal
      @petrokemikal Před 7 měsíci

      You cant force any company to make parts individually availible.. There not breaking any laws..

    • @jazko
      @jazko Před 7 měsíci

      @@petrokemikal I agree,, they are not. But it also doesn't make sense to sell "assemblies", when each and every part can be sold individually? It's like having a car, and you pop one tyre and need to get all 4 new tyres. How does that make sense ?
      But in the case of powertools, you pop one tyre and you have to throw away your car.

    • @petrokemikal
      @petrokemikal Před 7 měsíci

      It makes perfect sense... why sell you something for a couple of bucks, when they can either sell you an assembly or a newer model.. its our own fault anyways, we cried out that tools are too expensive, even though they could all be fixed... now we're crying because there cheap and falling apart and can't be fixed.. 😂

  • @leehaz1
    @leehaz1 Před 7 měsíci

    Most of the tools you fix are simple fixes. How many tools are thrown away when they would cost a couple quid to fix.

  • @petrokemikal
    @petrokemikal Před 7 měsíci

    What exactly is going on with trend..? I see there new cordless range is falling off a cliff, all there products are dirt cheap on Amazon, dirt cheap to the point of looks like there just trying to recoup the cost of the machines themselves.. I think its because there batteries are sky high prices + they didnt present enough tools at launch to convince anybody that picking up a couple of batteries would be a worthy investment.. Also nothing but bad reports of there routers, like that small barrel one, cant rember the name of it now.. But I was eyeing it up not so long ago, then I seen a few reviews and lots of complaints.. Trend used to be top stuff and quite expensive In ireland.. What are they playing at ? Change of hands at the helm maybe ?
