破虜 Lake, or Hwacheon Lake, is an artificial lake located in the northernmost part of Korea, which was created when the Hwacheon Dam was built in May 1944. The area is 38.9 km2, which can hold 1 billion tons of water. Upstream, there is the Peace Dam.
Hwacheon Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Bukhangang River with a height of 81.5m, a length of 435m, and a total of 1.018 billion tons of storage, which was started by the Japanese in 1939 and completed in 1944. It is the largest dam for hydroelectric power generation in Korea, and Hwacheon Lake was built when the dam was completed.
This area is north of the 38th parallel and belonged to the Soviet military government immediately after the liberation of August 15, but was subjugated to the Republic of Korea after the Korean War.
At the time of the dam's construction, the name of the lake was Hwacheonho Lake, and the name Paroho Lake was a place where 24,000 Korean People's Army and Chinese People's Support Army were killed near Hwacheon Lake during the Battle of Yongmunsan Mountain in the Korean War and the bodies of the dead were 葬. On November 18, 1955, President Syngman Rhee named it "破虜 Lake," which means "a lake that defeated barbarians," and held a grand ceremony to unveil a large naming monument.

The excitement at the thought of seeing her proud daughter, a professor at a prestigious university in the U.S., is also flustered by the sight of Jinju (Shin Min-ah) who suddenly returned to her rural house and started a business. Jinju, who doesn't even know her mother's heart, visits her best friend Mi-jin (Hwang Bo-ra) who came to her and finds her mom's recipe, and when she sees a familiar dish, they recall memories of each other…

제가 군생활했던 곳이 바로 파로호 앞에 있어서 무거운 군장을 메고 행군하면서 정말 많이 지나갔던 곳인데 그때만 해도 파로호가 너무나 지겹고 꼴보기 싫었는데 이렇게 드론으로 다시 보니 너무나 반갑네요~ 예전 어릴적 모습과는 상당히 달라져 있네요~ 강원도 화천 겨울 날씨 정말 추울텐데 이 먼곳까지 가셔서 영상 촬영하시느라 고생 많으셨겠습니다. 덕분에 영상 잘 보고 갑니다. 늘 건강하시길 바라며 다음 영상도 기대하고 있겠습니다!~~~
