#DallasCowboysReport - Sport
Aikman and Irvin were a complementary package in terms of leadership. Big part of the great chemistry on that team.
Dak, Elliot And CD and more comparable to Curly, Larry and Moe than Aikman, Emmitt and Irvin....
I used to deliver James Washington's morning newspaper...back in the day!
Uncle Fish story time is always fabulous! Thanks Fish❤
Agreed... Aikman was the BOMB ⚡Dak is Not even Close💥
You were definitely at your best today 🐠 Fish. Excellent thinking and "PERFORMANCE"
What would a young Jimmy Johnson do with all the talent on this team? Great coaching can make good players great. Jimmy Johnson did that!
Jimmy Johnson didn't draft any Mazis or Schoons...
John Avery, Yatil Green, J.J. Johnson, Cecil Collins. Just to name a few.
@@timothyarnold1679Russell Maryland number 1 pick
FACT: Jimmy didn't draft anyone without Jerry.
It's more like...
Here's the only 32 teams that can win a Super Bowl...
Just gotta love these "Experts"!!!
92 Cowboys will never be replaced ! They don’t make em like that anymore with the respect and ambition to win !
Listening later in Washington State. Loved today's show. Nothing like 92 even if they win.
Because. I'm old enough to remember that as well that when Charles Haley came to the Dallas Cowboys .
Norv Turner came in 1991 and transformed at offense... Side note you look at those games at how much Emmitt caught the ball out of the backfield and the big play ability down the field they had off of play action.
wow fish... the comparison was absolutely wonderful - honestly enjoyed this very much - esp. with my coffee - ty
Aikman didnt choke in the big spots.
The only similarity between the 1992 Cowboys and the current team is the stars on their helmets.
92 cowboys had big game quarterback troy aikman who was phenomenal in playoff competition. that in a whole bunch of other things.
No he wasn't the run game and defense was phenomenal
@@fireindahole857 something like an 80% completion rate in first half of playoff games
@@timothyarnold1679 yeah 8 of 10 passing
@@fireindahole857 Prescott went 1 for 6, 7 yd and one interception In the first quarter against Green Bay. I will take 8 out of 10.
@@timothyarnold1679 so you would take the so called top 5 defense last year too goof
👑 KING MICHAEL WAS A HUMAN DYNAMOE.
The 92 team was willing to make in season adjustments and got Charles Haley. The Current Cowboys are unwilling to take risks and make in season trades to better the team. Last season we needed a LB when LVE got injured and we didn’t go get one. Same thing the year before with WR. How are we ever going to even get to the NFC Championship game if the GM isn’t willing to make in season adjustments?
I remember the early 90’s Cowboys. This was an excellent show today because it honestly shows no one knows what’s going to happen any given year. “Hope” is all we have these days. Go Cowboys!!
Not 92 for one reason...Jimmy Johnson
Numerous reasons…. Don’t forget the Triplets
Jimmy couldn't have done it without Jerry hiring him.
Awesome show today Uncle Fish :-)
The difference between this Cowboys team and the 1992 team (and any NFL team with an actual chance to win a SB) is LEADERSHIP and CULTURE!!!! Perhaps Jimmy gets more than his due credit for the Cowboys 90's success but there is NO doubt Jimmy was the leader and Jimmy set the culture of win at all cost, no BS, and my way or the highway. In addition they had the unquestionable leadership of Aikman, Emmitt and Irvin. There have not been many, if any, players with anywhere near the leadership qualities of the triplets since then. You watch the sidelines of a Cowboys game now when they are loosing and it looks like they are at a wake. Losing doesn't even seem to bother them. It's always the 'learn from it and move on' BS press conference from Dak and Mike and Jerry when they loose but unfortunately they always move on but they never learn from it. The current culture of this team is Jerry. Flash over substance. As long as people are talking about us we are happy. Paychecks and social media hits are more important than wins now. Not that 1990's players didn't want every $ they deserved but winning seem just as important if not more important to them. McCarthy might be a pretty good coach but he has ZERO +ve impact on the culture of this team. Since Jimmy left we've seen what the 'flash is more important than substance' culture of Jerry Jones has brought and until the culture of this team changes I don't care how good the roster gets they will not win another SB
Good morning fish 🐠 luv the old stories I've been a cowboys fan since the 70s remember a sack from Harvey Martin was called Martinized luv the show
GO COWBOYS!
So your saying we have a pretty good chance of making it to the playoffs and maybe just maybe the BIG SHOW😊😊
Norv Turner was paramount for Troy, which Troy sometimes mentions in his Game Broadcasts.
Know you don't have no triplets right now but when Tony Romo was leading the Dallas Cowboys and you had Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray they was what you could call the next triplets when they was leading the Dallas Cowboys with Jason Witten as the next Jay Novacek and Terrance Williams as being the second wide receiving as Alvin Harper back then when it was all on the Dallas Cowboys because they could have won a Super Bowl championship I don't see this group of Dallas Cowboys winning a Super Bowl championship because they don't have the attitude or the heart to try to win one like Tony Romo and Dez Bryant and Jason Witten did.
Fish, I respect you, but this is some Dallas Texas sports journalist jibba jabba that you are peddling. It was evident at the end of the 1991 season that the Cowboys would be real contenders (if not favorites) heading into 1992. I remember watching the Bills/Redskins Super Bowl and telling everyone at the party "Cowboys will be in this game next year., mark my words." They were just so hungry. They beat the Eagles and Redskins on the road late in 1991, and then beat the Bears in Chicago in the playoffs, physically beating Neal Anderson to the point that he lost his will to win (see his weak 4th qtr attempts near the goalline). Anybody who was paying attention knew that they were only going to get better. Fish, you know I'm right. You're the man. Love what you do, love the energy and consistency.
I. did because he helped a constructed the Dallas Cowboys to win the first Super Bowl championship for Jerry Jones
That team had Jeffcoat and Norton. This team does not.
We really need to stop referencing the past Cowboys with the present Cowboys.
I'm guessing that one of the two people that Fish was referring to being critical of Aikman in ‘95 was Skip Bayless’, but who was the Cowboy coach that was critical?
Glad you said Dak will never be Troy.... nothing said today can/will be ANY truer
Dak, Elliot And CD and more comparable to Curly, Larry and Moe than Aikman, Emmitt and Irvin....
I was born in January 1993 . What was this all like ? The super bowls lol
Here's another difference: after adjusting for inflation, Aikman made $3,340,000 in 1992 (unless I am mistaken).
I remember young Larry Brown... there were some games against the 49rs where Brown was all over Jerry Rice denying him catches... he later faltered, but early on, as a I believe 11th round draft pick, was awesome.
Fish
Your show has been outstanding over last week or so. Not that it wasn’t already good.
Comparing 92 w today has to start w QB. Aikman v Dak? Just not the same. I’ll never forget the yr SF beat Dallas in championship game. SF was just better that day. But Aikman was not to be beat w out his best. He was hit in the mud so many times in candlestick but would get back up and make a play.
Don’t forget the playoff game where Aikman threw 3 picks in the first 5 mins of the game against SF. I love Aikman, but he had a crappy start and cost us the game from jump.
That game was my favorite loss game of all time cause it displayed the raw heart of a champion that refused to quit ..Down 21-0 to keep storming back with injuries, turnovers a couple of horrendous calls vs a historic 49r team …They didn’t lose that day they just ran out of time
@@TO-dl2gg yep it actually was one of my favorites too. DC4L
@TO-dl2gg Had Deion been flagged for PI on the 'Playmaker' with roughly six minutes ago, I truly believe the 'Boys come back to win that game.
@@briancusack4386 I agree with you 💯 I believe they would’ve as well
Different era too!
The game in 92 was different .. and the RB was a valued commodity. 2024 not so much
I hope the front office doesn't wait too long to acquire a true RB1.
The light looks good.Put one on the other side also
Biggest difference is that Jerry & the Cowboys front office ain’t as hungry to win a SB as they were back then 🤦♂️💯
Actually their more like the Cowboys of the late 60s.
Wow hold you horses. Where is Bob Lilly Jethro Pugh, LeRoy Jordan, Chuck Howley, Rafael Wright. Harris. Waters, Hayes, Defensive backs. Drew Pearson. Roger Staubach.
What happened in ' 92 will never be duplicated because the team had Jimmy Johnson at the helm Jerry was out of the way and the players we're just built different than these guy's it's apples vs oranges this team has no guts, no balls, and no soul
Jerry was even more involved in team decisions in '92.
When Jerry bought the team in 89 and hired Jimmy to be the head coach he told him … “ Jimmy you take care of the football side of things and I’ll take care of the financial side and together we’ll make history “. Problem was that the media wasn’t much interested in the financial side only the football side so Jimmy was getting ALL the attention and Jerry being the attention whore that he is didn’t like it ! So exit Jimmy cause it “Wasn’t fun anymore .” ( I guess not dealing with Jerrah and his nonsense. ) 1 more by Switzer with essentially Jimmy’s team. And the last 29 years has been Jerry also now heavily involved in handling …the football end of things “. And we’ve seen the results !
I get it I was there it was very special and I was one of the biggest fans of Elway that was but aren't you forgetting farb Montana but no daks not Aikman
Dak, Elliot And CD - only CD Is in, with that comparation.
Elliott from 2016 & 2017 is compatible to Smith imho.... after those years no
Dak, Elliot And CD and more comparable to Curly, Larry and Moe than Aikman, Emmitt and Irvin....
@@bmorris8276 Dak, Elliot And CD and more comparable to Curly, Larry and Moe than Aikman, Emmitt and Irvin....
Not with Dak as qb 😊😮😅😢😂
PAPERBOY TOO😂😂😂
Put that Troy 8 hat in the store!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tio Pescado! Hit the like button on the way into the chat Cowboy Nation.
Know. I'm a lifelong Dallas Cowboy fan that is where. I can say the things about CeeDee Lamb that he is never going to be the type of wide receiver that Michael Irvin was that can lift a football team to a Super Bowl championship yes he have talent not the talent like Michael Irvin had .
No. Jerry and Jimmy prospered despite galactic stupidity and once-in-a generation good luck.
Exhibit A: At the end of the 1988 season Dallas and Green Bay were in the hunt for the first pick in the ‘89 draft. Green Bay simply had to lose as road ‘dogs to Arizona to land Troy Aikman. The Packers one, Aikman fell into the Cowboys’ lap.
Exhibit B:
After the Walker trade Jimmy and Jerry decided to shop Michael Irvin. Al Davis talked them out of trading “The Playmaker”.
Exhibit C:
The Cowboys were on the clock with the 17th pick. Jimmy was smoking the phones to grab James Francis by trading picks with the Bengals who had the 12th pick.
The Bengals kept the pick, Emmitt Smith fell to Dallas.
Summary: But for luck, the Raiders could have had #8 and Green Bay would have drafted Aikman and Smith.
Note: There was no salary cap.
Harper was 12th pick in draft
The cowboys ain't smart enough to beat the Chiefs in the next superbowl mm.
Or the 49ers.
It's always about the Super Bowl with the Cowboys. After the worst loss in the history of the team and one of the least inspiring offseasons that I can remember, we're making comparisons to the 92 Super Bowl champs?! If there's any year to temper expectations, this year is it. I'll be happy to win a couple of games we're supposed to lose. No delusions here.
LMAO, not even close 🤣
The main difference I see is .....these Cowboys don't have the fire the want or the need to win be respected,to hear Nate and Charles talk they use to always break bread together, spend time together, watch film together, stay late together, be Brothers, family, defend protect and want the very best for each other and expect the best from each other and go to WAR together every game day .Todays cowboys are all seperate individuals NOT a team but seperate players playing for themselves
I have a theory and that's all.
It seems to me that Jimmy Johnson is intervening with the Joneses. All this change of mind with Dak and more, the reconstruction and maybe even the draft, are being "recommended or influenced or suggested" by JJ, which would seem very good to me or at least realize that there is a plan behind what We're seeing.
I believe you are right look at how many players they let walk. Even Smith. Jimmy's theory if you aren't producing then bye
Anything that you did kind of mess up on it's about when Charles Haley came to the Dallas Cowboys because you said he came to the Dallas Cowboys in 1992 he came to the Dallas Cowboys in 1991 because he helped them win three Super Bowl championships that is how he got five Super Bowl rings two with the San Francisco 49ers and three with the Dallas Cowboys.
Hey, if they play in 2024 like they did in 1992 then folks will say Jerry is a genius.
92 began with Jimmy and Troy. Until we get another quality quarterback like Aikman, fuggetaboutit!
Just joined need some help
Know. I don't see this team trying to draft a defensive player like a Charles Haley yeah. I know that Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones is going to blow this football team up by the end of this year .
Fish when was Kevin Gogan there.
Prizebox Texas
we don’t have a shot unless trey turns into troy because dak can’t get it done around here
Morning FISHERS and cowboys nation
This is not 92 cowboys, with Troy and Emmitt, not even close
It's ludicrous to even make this comparison in all honesty. This team is a joke compared to those early ninetys boys.. from players to coaching
Never, but never, Dak or zeke Will be at the same level that Troy or emmith. The same with McCarthy AND More.
This comparation Is apples with stones
100% agree. Fish is now a door to door hope salesman
I think y’all missed the point
About as Sharp as a box of marbles
We've been "good" almost every year since 1996. Just not good enough.
More likely they are similar to the 84 or 98 cowboys
Dak supporters better hope it doesn't go similar to 84 when they tried to replace Danny White with Gary Hogeboom 😯
Not without a warrior mind set that zeke brings team instead of self my stats
Jones are so behind the times. The league has changed, so many teams have tried to do much more to improve. Mccarthy should have been held accountable for the brutal loss against GB. He was out coached and there is no excuse.
The modern NFL playoff contending teams have a blue print for success with all in at GM, Coaches, trades and FA. The Jones have fallen so far from this that they are a loss of a player or player injury away to absolute disaster. The Jones are not geniuses, especially in comparison to their peers.
Love this professor...but this is attempting to gin up a disgruntled fanbase into believing, hoping, for a potential miracle...only because the ownership is entrenched in a 1990's mentality not 21st century reality of $$.
Hope in the miraculous is now the Jones strategy for fans.
Know this football team does not have a Michael Irvin on it because CeeDee Lamb is nowhere near of the level that Michael Irvin was on the Dallas Cowboys back then.
Tavern safe 2 All
The only legit knock on Dak is that he hasn't consistently played well in big games/playoffs. I think a lot of that is on Dak but I also think a lot of it is the poor preparation this team seems to chronically have for big games. That again goes back to culture which has been lacking since Jimmy left.
With todays rules. Michael Irvin would be an average receiver at best with the amount of pushoffs he used almost every play!
I like cd a lot but even if you are talking about the player not the person, the comparison to Michael Irving is terrible! I love you and what you do fish but I've never seen cd in the middle of all his offense leading a huddle on the side lines! Michael was light years ahead of cd! And same with Troy if the players weren't doing thier job he and Michael would be on the sidelines lighting a fire under thier asses! The main reason it doesn't make sense to compare the old cowboys to the current ones is the nfl and the rule changes. You can't play defense today without it being a penalty! Idk how anyone can try to compare defensive players or units from the past to the current players or units! The 92 team had more heart and determination!
And anybody that STILL thinks Michael's last name is IRVING is a complete ignorant re-tard....
What have they done to improve from last year???? They signed one washed linebacker lol now because they drafted guess all those other teams drafted to except they made moves lol
Who is Pup?
Kevin Smith
u really want to make a comparison of Mccarthy and Johnson? this team is garbage.
Garbage? Come on man, 3 12 win seasons ain’t garbage. I know you’re gonna have a meltdown about playoff losses and do the whole “what’s it gotten us??” Thing, but being competitive every year ain’t garbage. Washington is garbage, panthers are garbage, bears are garbage.
Just Prescott.
Dak, Elliot And CD and more comparable to Curly, Larry and Moe than Aikman, Emmitt and Irvin....
Not with this team culture and front office. Nope.
Mike your full of it Jerry only does basement bargain coaches he never going to pay bill 20mil a year same reason why Payton was never coming here
There's nothing wrong with this coaching staff????? REALLY??? I don't challenge or disagree with Fish on much but I do on this!!! Say all you like about 12 wins 3 years in a row but if you look closely this team is sub .500 against winning teams. They are clearly unprepared almost every big game. They are sloppy, mistake prone and penalty prone. They are the worst team in the league at making in game adjustments when things aren't going well. This is (or at least was the past couple years) a mediocre football team with a very good roster. No body has done less with more than the Cowboys the past few years. If that doesn't scream poor coaching I don't know what does????
LOL WHOEVER BELIEVES THIS DALLAS COWBOYS TEAM CAN WIN A DAMN SUPERBOWL ARE CRAZY THERE TOO TIRED WHEN THE PLAYOFFS START . THEY ARE A JOKE
Cap
Dak= better
If aikman was on this team they would have won the last 3 super bowls in a row
Click bait. Come on Fish. You suppose to be better than this. 40 years and you putting this out. Really
Not with dak
Just stop with the delusional s*** with Dak Prescott at the helm this will never ever come close to the 92 Cowboys
Dak, Elliot And CD and more comparable to Curly, Larry and Moe than Aikman, Emmitt and Irvin....
