- This cinnamon roll recipe comes directly from my great-grandmother's cookbook that came with her 1930 model Home Comfort cast iron range. I've never made this recipe before, but you can be sure I'll make it again!
These look like my grandma's cinnamon rolls. We have lost her recipe, but this looks right. She was more generous with the butter and cinnamon inside the roll, and with the butter and sugar on the bottom, which she called candy when she turned them out. She baked hers in glass, so the sticky part on the bottom was completely caramelized. Thanks for posting!
I'm normally more generous with butter and cinnamon and brown sugar inside the rolls, but that's for a different recipe. I was trying to follow this one per the cookbook instructions. Cinnamon rolls are so good and that caramelized bottom is delicious! Thank you for watching!
What a blessing to have this !!!
I am very thankful, indeed! ❤️
Hey I love your videos. I'm going to start baking cinnamon rolls and bread. I haven't baked like this before. I'm knew to this kind of baking. I have been watching lots of videos and ran across yours. Thank you so much. And I am a new subscriber.
Hi Doris! I didn't grow up baking yeast breads, but I've learned it over the last 20 years or so Now I love making them! Sweet breads, rolls, rustic loaves, all kinds of yeast breads. So delicious! And thank you for subscribing! Welcome! I hope you find other content here that you enjoy!
I just love that mixing bowl! I'll have to keep my eyes out for one.
They are super hard to find these days. If you find one you should definitely snap it up!
I would love one too!
I found several on Amazon but they say decorative?
The decorative bowls are not food safe, most of them are like that.
A++++ job!! Beautiful!! You did an awesome job!!
Aww! Thank you so much!
They’re gorgeous!!
Thank you! And they taste even better! Best part is they last for a few days, and, in fact, I think they’re better the next day!
Great video, I enjoy being in your kitchen 👍 I will definitely try this one 💞
I hope you enjoy it! 😃
I am so excited. Cinnamon Rolls I just love love!!! Thank you for being so brave to try recipe!!! They look so good!!!
I hope you enjoy this recipe! We love them... just needs a bigger pan!
That was fun, thank you!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
They look so good! Yum!
These are delicious!
They can climb into my belly. Looks great
We love these so much!
😂 You are All of us making small oops that don’t matter. 😜😍 Thank you for sharing.
They did turn out just fine! And these cinnamon rolls were EVEN BETTER the next day. I don't know what's up with that, but I've never had a pastry like this be better the day after making them. This recipe is perfect!
The reason for scalding the milk in yeast bread recipes is to deactivate the whey protein in the milk, which interferes with the gluten and makes bread less light and fluffy. Of course, pasteurised milk has already been been heated and doesn't require another heating.
Huh. I didn’t know that! Thank you!
those look awesome!! they sure need more pan room...gotta try these soon!!
Haha you're not the only one who has commented about the pan room! These are delicious, even if they were crowded in the pan in this video!
This do look good!! I think you’re right about not putting the butter and brown sugar on the bottom. But what I would do is put cream cheese icing on them. That’s what I use on mine and they are awesome!! May God bless you and your channel.
Oh I love cream cheese icing! That’s definitely a delicious way to go! 😋 May God bless you as well! ❤️🙏
Possibly a 9x12 would work better. Delicious. My mouth is watering. Wow! Fantastic! Thanks for sharing ❤

I actually found a food safe dough bowl @Wayfair. There are some on Etsy. They are really expensive. Seeing someone roll out their dough on a tea towel is new. Makes perfect sense. Dental floss works well. 🎃
I’m at 34:33 😂😂😂😂 That’s ME. 😂😂
I’m sure they’re delicious!
😂
I wish I could talk to you when you're doing this live I would have been able to catch you but you see how squish they turned out and and they would have had a bit more breathing room and cooked away better but I'm sure it's all gonna go down the same way enjoy
They turned out delicious and if you watched to the end, you know I concluded that the pan was too small. When I've made these since, I've been sure to use a bigger pan! 😁
Would love the recipe!
The recipe should be in the video description. 😊
I would butter the tops before flipping them
Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!
And if you just melt the butter with the Brown sugar and add a bit of heavy cream Pour that in the bottom of your Pan you'll be so surprised how they turn out
I make cinnamon rolls a few different ways, but this was a specific recipe from my great-grandmother's wood stove cookbook. 😉
Where did you get your Bread Bowl? I love it. Thank you for sharing this old time recipe.
I'm glad you enjoyed the recipe. Thanks for watching! The wooden bread tray is actually a very traditional item that you'll find in many old eastern North Carolina kitchens. It was a gift from my mama. I talk about it in my video on Buttermilk Biscuits czcams.com/video/rAJHhUAEUMc/video.html
@@OldTimeKnowledge it's a beautiful bowl and keepsake from your mother.
@@mariecook7910 Yes ma’am! It sure is! ❤️ Thank you!
If you cover the pan with pecans on the bottom they’d be really delicious!
Oh, that does sound amazing. I should definitely do that next time I make these! Thank you for the suggestion! I’m not always a fan of nuts with cinnamon rolls but I do think pecans right there in that brown sugar would be perfect! 👌
Hi from Greece..is easy with some way to print the book and send it to Greece with post office? i will pay the printing and mailing costs..it would be an honor if you would allow me to have your grandmother's recipes too. I will also send you traditional Greek recipes. If not, thank you very much..with respect Chrysanthi
I'm afraid not, but you may find a cookbook like this at archive.org or Google Books. It's in the public domain so you can likely find a PDF of the whole thing online.
@@OldTimeKnowledge thank you for your information..
Lol woo whoops, girl if we dont make a mess cooking with flour then your not cooking as my momma says.
Haha ain't it the truth! 🤣
