For some reason, this is the game that I always recommend if someone is not into video games. I believe that it is a great evolution from a puzzle tabletop. Extremely well made, well balanced and almost endless with all the content available.
Loved that game. You can literally lose yourself on one turn, trying to figure out what to push to where and in what order, then dismissing the whole thing because you missed something and it won't work, then try to come up with something else, and so on. So engaging once you get into it.
I think you could have saved that power at around the 11:40 -ish mark, by first firing the artillery at B2, which would have pushed the webbing Vek on C2 to D2, right behind the Psion, and then have the tank shoot the Psion into the webbing Vek killing the Psion. In any case, really appreciate and enjoying the gameplay and commentary, thank you very much for doing this!
Now I remember why I couldn't watch you play this game the first time around. My heart-rate can't take all this screaming at the screen I'm doing! XD Literally at round 2 I was already sweating because you could've kill the same 3 bugs with no building damage. XP
same goes for the turn after that where he could've gotten rid of the mites and saved the coal plant by moving the bug with the artillery to attack the mech, attack the artillery with the tank, and repair the mech.... but then again maybe he's really just warming up :P
Happy to see content for into the breach again, the change they made reducing cost for powering weapons brings more variety to runs, now you don’t always have to use cores on movement and armor
Dude, I just finished getting all of the achievements and squad gold medals for this game. Now you're telling me there's a massive update?! I'm actually relieved. I was already starting to miss this game. Lol
Hard is definitely the best starting point for those who beat XCOM on Legend/Impossible, especially with the Roguelike nature of Into the Breach, though the new content is much harder, especially with the old squads. For those interested in the new Unfair difficulty: it is somewhat close to a Legend Ironman playthrough but even more punishing because you need to know exactly how things work and the strength and weaknesses of the squad you are playing with (because Into the Breach is much closer to a puzzle game).
The best way to sum this up is to say "It's as much of a puzzle game as it is a strategy game'...cause those are the two main elements everything else is built around.
Tip for deployment: if you look at where veks with webs can move and attack, you can bait them into attacking a mech or building that isn't a big hindrance or you can move March's out of the way and keep webbers from attacking them entirely. Really helps that first turn so you can move your mechs where you want
@@Zerzayar No, and this is coming from someone who has been gaming over 30 years and has FTL as one of his favorite games in existence. FTL is an awesome game, one of my favorites across all genres, but it relies more on RNG than strategy, which is not to say that strategy is not important. In other words, a random encounter in FTL can make your playthrough a lot easier, where in Battle Brothers it can make one of your 12 guys better. And that one guy can be head shotted in the first turn on your next encounter rendering him useless.
13:30 You can move the artillery mech right bellow the punching mech(A4), punch the scorpion, shoot the artillery to right infront of the punch mech(A2) it would knock the two into each other getting rid of the mite. The tank mech can just repair and you'd have got it.
You definitely made a good decision to play on Hard, rather than Unfair. Whilst I have made it to the final fight a couple of times on my starting from scratch and doing everything on Unfair, the amount of times I died or had to go to another timeline has been rather high. It will make for far more smoother content, not having that happening most runs. In any case, I am really interested in watching you play, I have long enjoyed the way you approach your videos and streams, and especially even more so on games that are my jam.
Last mission, another solution that saves the city bubble is after punch mech kills the scion as you did, cannon mech shoots F3 to push off of city then artillery mech shoots E6 to push both baddies into safe zones.
Cool game! The map aspect reminds me a bit of C&C when you play as the green whoever and red Nod (obviously superior military force). Really enjoying the turn strategy and planning involved in this one though. Well played!
Major love for this game and Subset Games in general! Matthew and Justin and the rest of the Subset team are a prime example of the standards the gaming industry needs!
The thing about this game is that there's always a solution, the only question is do you have the patience to find it? That also makes it a special game to put on youtube, because we all see different things first, so there's always someone who will have seen the solution that gives you all objectives and no damage. Worst thing about this though is that now I won't have time to play all my other games, because I have to get back to this game.
I normally don't like pixel art games. But this one looked interesting. So thanks for showing that to me. It's also available for mobile devices for Netflix subscribers. So guess who is playing the game now 😄 And guess who sucks at it. Lost all my Mechs on the third mission. Guess it has a learning curve to it 😉 I am looking forward to watching you play it for advice 😀
The first mission at 12:00 he could have just done the reverse order in witch he did things and the vek wouldn't have been able to attack the building.
I thought of a complex way to get the mites off, can't be faulted for missing this though: Artillery to C5, shoot C2 to save the building - Puncher to B5, Cannon to A5, shoot Puncher into Artillery, Puncher hits Cannon, everone's at 1 health with no mites!
Request that you turn on colourblind mode in the settings menu. This would make it a lot easier for some of us to watch! Should still be distinct for someone with "normal" colourvision.
Love this game! Been playing it myself :) Are you planning to just jump straight into the new mech teams when you unlock them? Or you going to play through all the old teams too?
38:00 I’m new to this game but you could have moved artillery 1 tile north east and shot in between the scorpion and alpha wasp, hitting both and moving them over by 1

Stephens sausage roll
Obra Dinn & Disco Elysium & Kentucky Route Zero are all top picks for that purpose too

I was thinking the same thing.
this would work
Sounded like he was under the impression that the webbing prevented the Vek from moving. Whoops.

Didn't notice there was an update before your video. Now I can have fun again blasting Veks!
THANKS!!!!

11:50 If You shoot with the cannon mech las,t then the building is saved. The psyon get a second damage from the bump with the scorpion.
Yup. I was shouting at the screen, hoping he'd do those moves 😅
He was so close. I thought of his final plan early, but it took me a moment to spot the optimal solution.
I saw this update on steam. Glad you’re being my guinea pig once again, Chris! Love the content, as usual.

This is still probably the best strategy-rogue game there is.
I love this game, but as far as turn based strategies go Battle Brothers is better imho.
No, that's FTL. 😅

i recall being surprised at this game's depth, back in the day
I know it was because I mentioned this game in my last comment on the spiderman deep dive!. You are too awesome Odd! :D

Hey, so glad you picked up into the breach again!
Advanced edition??? I'm in! This has been sitting on my switch unplayed for a hot minute, this looks like a fantastic update.
Breach and Odd, the best combo!

Just bought the game on steam sale. Played it half a dozen time. Died all those times. Coming back here to take notes on strategy :)
Thanks odd for showing this Gem again, i played it on the pc years ago but i also did pick it up on the Switch and will take a spin there again
Found your channel on your first playthrough. Happy to see it again!

11:41 you should use artillery 1st to push the scorpion then use tank to push the flying vek.
I think I was seeing that solution to. The pushing veks into each other is much more effective than you'd think
More, never stop.
Soooo happy to see this return! How has it been four years???
Love this game! I hope you keep playing this!
music sounds very similar to fallout 4 and mass effect

Next up: One of video of a Slay the Spire climb? :)
Fun game. Thanks Odd
Alternative Solution of the puzzle [35:40] >>> {Tank F5, E6, shoot E7} + {Canon shoot F4} + {Melee C4}
Comment for the algorithm. I was searching this game because I heard it had an update, and I remembered being very close to buying it previously.
They took my favorite game… and made it insanely better.
Update just in time for me to replay it on Steam Deck.
Yes, you’re playing this!
This is awesome!!!!!
YES. Best game ever!!
Awesome Gameplay Video
VC dude, mer da rides a bagger [usually]. We went to whitby last week[ish] byways of Montreal. Anywho, that's that I guess, game looks groovy

4 years...... holy shit!
Damn, just watch this now, what a missed opportunity to call him Maverick, which also means dark horse.
Do you plan on playing Life Is Strange: True Colors?
can you replay a zone to go after the bonus adjective?
CZcams-algorithm help.
wow no way really?
bruhhhhhhhhhh
Oh my God this was the most painfully boring thing I've watched since the birth of Windows 95. Sheesh.
